This is the most beautiful hotel I have stayed in, in over 30 years. Also the staff seemed to actually enjoy working their and were very proud of the hotel. It is breathtakingly beautiful, visually and also with the daily birdsong. The cost of staying was appropriate to a ordinary hotel in any capital city. The rooms facing the Cathedral Square have sunlight in the morning. It ws a super experience to stay there. there is nothing about this hotel I did not like.

Our first impression of this hotel was of awe.. due entirely to the magnificence of the inside of the building. This was followed by our enjoying warm and friendly staff, we had arrived off a very early flight and thought we would have to wait some time but we had our room immediately and it was lovely and spacious. Our knowledge of the city was minimal but the wonderful man (porter or doorman), spoke english and was extremely helpful .. we found all the sites we wanted to visit.

This is a beautiful hotel in the most central location in Mexico City possible. The building is beautiful. I booked an economy Queen Room and it was great, way bigger than I expected for the price we paid. There was a power cut when we arrived and we were given torches and brought to our room. The emergency lights were also working. The staff were very apologetic about it. It came back a couple of hours later. Unfortunately I think this is part of the problem in such a huge city and not the hotel's fault as we also experienced a power cut in the airport when we arrived.

I appreciated the quality/price ratio. The first impact is stunning, the lobby is incredibly beautiful, and you don't expect such an environment when you come from the street. The staff is kind and efficient, also for supporting in managing trips inside or outside the city We had a Camera Queen De Luxe tha was actually beautiful, with view on the Zocalo, but since it was the first floor it was quite noisy due to the continuous traffic in the square

Beautiful art nouveau architecture in the main public area. Great location in the old town. The only really good thing about the hotel is the building and the location, otherwise, the hotel is apparently being allowed to fade away and become a budget destination. A real pity. The public areas are dirty (there are often lots of management / reception staff hanging around by reception doing nothing, when the cost of those people would be better spent employing more or better cleaners to shift the thick dust all around that area (just about any flat surface (try the top of the public telephones in the lobby) has not been cleaned for weeks or more. The restaurant on the roof has a stunning location and view of the city's main square, but the place itself has been allowed to become extremely ordinary, and the food is nothing to write home about. Same with breakfast. Decent management could make this place amazing again, I'm sure.

Great building, great location, great service. Check-out time is too early. Given the fact that it is a luxury hotel, they may want to consider extending check-out time until 2 PM, or later upon the customer's request.

It is a beautiful hotel, large rooms, and excellent price for what you get. My room looked out on the city main square (Zocalo) which is full of activity. You're right in the historical centre. Rooms looking out on the Zocalo are a bit noisy. But instead of the view you can get quiet ones without.

I liked the Art noveau stained glass design of the roof light.I Liked the stile of the hotel very much. I loved the grand-ness of the central hall. The reception people and service was excellent. The roof-top terrace charges were too high. I paid 60 pesos for one bread roll. How can you justify that? You never answered my question when I did my e-booking, whether you had a shuttle-bus to the airport or not. As it was, you did not have one.

This is a super cool hotel - I got the room on special for $50 otherwise i'd never stay there - its the equivalent of the ritz and it was for 15 september which is mexican independence day. It overlooks the main square so its perfect. Old 5 star hotel - but it is superb No complaints. The place is fantastic.

The hotel staff were warm and friendly beyond expectations. I really got the impression that our comfort and well being was most important to them. I'm not talking about being "fussed" over...it was more a very dignified and sincere warmth that was most appealing to us. We will definitely be repeat guests!
