Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico  

This is the most beautiful hotel I have stayed in, in over 30 years. Also the staff seemed to actually enjoy working their and were very proud of the hotel. It is breathtakingly beautiful, visually and also with the daily birdsong. The cost of staying was appropriate to a ordinary hotel in any capital city. The rooms facing the Cathedral Square have sunlight in the morning. It ws a super experience to stay there.

great hotel, right at zocalo, my window was looking directly at national palace. great surrounding near good restaurants too. perfect stay, really enjoyed every bit of it~

Great Location, right on the Zocalo and 200 m' away from the metro station, huge and stylish rooms, great breakfast. don't miss the roof top restaurant with a great center view and great food.

The location is great, the rooms are very nice, the staff is helpful and the breakfast was very good. When visit Mexico City again we'll stay there again. Beautiful and elegant interior. Breakfast was wonderful, and was included with our stay. The room was huge, and very clean. A throw- back to the 1900's both in style and service. We appreciated the quality/price ratio. The first impact is stunning, the lobby is incredibly beautiful, and you don't expect such an environment when you come from the street. The staff is kind and efficient, also very supportive. We enjoy staying there very much. This was the best hotel in our trip around the world.

Beautiful facility. Super location. Great breakfast. the staff was lean. Expenses were cut back (for example Great piano player in bar but no peanuts etc with drinks). The building is so spectacular that I would stay again dispite the small lack of amenitites.

Stunning building, beautiful atrium, great location and comfortable room. The maitre d' for breakfast was a particular highlight! Good, free Wi-Fi throughout hotel.

Roof terrace restaurant a little garish compared to nearby alternatives. Room furnishings a little tired.

The hotel is well located close to the subways and the shops in the city center. The room was quiet, big and clean...very confortable !

The location of this hotel is perfect, we had a room looking onto the square, plenty of restaurants close by and the shopping is great, take an emply suitcase.

Location. No one can imagine this hotel occupies one of the corner of Zocalo palace. The building itself is the historic architecture. So the signboard of this hotel never can be found outside, that I recommend you to reserve a pickup service of 46usd ,while the regular taxi fare is 150peso=15usd, also since there seems to be an hotel with the similar name of somewhat "Grand" located around the Zocalo. Anyway, I assure this hotel deserves the luxury but fair cost.

Breakfast includes an aged fruits plates and a plate of eggs at your choice. I don't reccommed you to order "Scramble" due to its figure on the plate.

Beautiful art nouveau architecture in the main public area. Great location in the old town.

The only really good thing about the hotel is the building and the location, otherwise, the hotel is apparently being allowed to fade away and become a budget destination. A real pity. The public areas are dirty (there are often lots of management / reception staff hanging around by reception doing nothing, when the cost of those people would be better spent employing more or better cleaners to shift the thick dust all around that area (just about any flat surface (try the top of the public telephones in the lobby) has not been cleaned for weeks or more. The restaurant on the roof has a stunning location and view of the city's main square, but the place itself has been allowed to become extremely ordinary, and the food is nothing to write home about. Same with breakfast. Decent management could make this place amazing again, I'm sure.
