We selected this hotel because we had a positive experience in Melia Bali. We read some negative reviews but decided to judge ourselves. We re glad that we did that because the hotel was excellent in every way. This was the last part of our honeymoon where we needed to relax after a very busy sightseeing schedule in Italy and Spain. We stayed in a room in the main building overlooking at the Ocean and it had a balcony with beach chairs. The room always felt comfortable. Maybe the doors need to be sound proof. Some noise from the foyer could be heard but it was quite after 9pm so nothing major.

Excellent views, amazing food, nice staff lower level, great service at the bar at the pool, convenient location A clear disparity between the confirmed reservation through booking com. And the actual on-site, the hotel refused to recognize the conditions and prices for booking made through booking com. Staff at the reception desk below a critical level. Be very careful when buying anything through them.

Staff was really helpful. Bed was very comfortable Room was in desperate need of renovation: Leak, broken fridge, broken drawers, poor functioning shower. Not what you would expect of a 5 star hotel

The rooms are very nice, clean, comfortable and well appointed. Lovely pool with a bar. The atmosphere pool-side ranges from quiet and relaxed to "let's party" screaming depending mainly on the level of intoxication of the guests. The hotel staff are very pleasant and helpful. I found the laundry service to be irreproachable. Breakfast offers an extensive variety of wares and styles. Evening meals are similar in the range of choices, and reasonably priced, although I'd recommend dining out in the evenings as the hotel seems hard put to compete with the quality of locally available seafoods. They were having some troubles with the hot water one day, but I believe it was a rare event and quickly remedied. Other than that, the service is very good and the rooms are lovely, comfortable and clean. A word of caution, however, for those who are early to bed or jet lagged. The evening entertainment, accompanied singers, in the hotel atrium is quite loud and carries throughout the premises each eveining until 10:30 P.M. The music was "easy listening" style rock standards from the us and uk. Quite well performed, in my opinion; however, these old favorites were readily audible in my 3rd-floor room despite its location at the opposite side of the hotel and with the door closed. So, light early sleepers be advised : ear plugs are a must.

Hotel is riddled with timeshare sales people. We asked a simple question about breakfast options indicating we had just enough time for it without missing flight. She didn't care and attempted a timeshare pitch with their usual starting questions. She had the nerve to act annoyed when we cut her off saying we're in a rush. Restaurants follow inconvenient schedule except for the buffet restaurant. Some of the doors in and out of hotel to the beach close at ~11pm so no enjoying the beach unless you plan on sleeping outside. This is the typical all-inclusive-treat-tourist-as- herd hotel. Would never stay there again if I was paid to.

Nice and quiet room, good service (for Mexico), relaxing atmosphere, fine in-room dining. Spa is passable, pool area could be noisy due to the discos and wedding celebrations, no working cash machines at hotel.

The hotel's interior of hanging vines was unique and use of greenery everywhere made the htoel feel exotic and tropical. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable...good recommendations regarding restaurants and activities. The pool and beach settings were great...lots of deck chairs etc. not too crowded. The internet situation at the hotel is sub-par. This day in age, there is no reason why w-fi access should not be standard and hi speed in a luxury chain hotel. To get internet access, you have to get a card with a username and password from their food market. To make matters worse, the signal strength was limited to a few hotspot areas. Your best bet was to use one of the 4 computers in the food market which reminded me of internet cafe.

The room was very cousy, clean and everything was new. They all have a great balcony were we could chill out before dinner. The restaurants are great and the service is very nice. I had a problem with my mini-bar and they have promptly repaired it. The pool and beach area are great and there is a seafood restaurant by the pool (La Perla) which had awesome food. The happy our bar is also great and they will prepare you some esquisit drinks. The array of itens not included in the all inclusive package was somewhat bigger than we wxpected. I would definitively have preferred to have paid more from start to have acess to more refined dishes (as lobsters and so on) instead of having to carry my wallet around witthin the hotel, as they would not allow younto charge it to your room once you are in the all inclusive package... Doing a reservation in the hotel restaurants is a cumbersome process and it is always busy. The concierge that was in charge of the reservation was abhardvto find person. Also the hotel should increase the headcount off the staff in some key areas (as the pool bar for instance) specially in ocasions like the new years week when the hotel was vey busy and it wasbtaking ages for a drink. Finally, there was nothing prepared for the new years night.

It had a beautiful atrium and central lobby. The pool was large and even had a swim-up bar which was always packed because it was all-inclusive. However, the bar service was terrible unless you flashed some cash. The beach is excellent with plenty of lounge chairs but it could use more huts or umbrellas because those were always reserved. In fact, if you don't put a towel on one of the chairs by 10am you will not get a desirable location. My fiance and I really don't like all-inclusive resorts so we opted-out it for this trip. This was a mistake because everyone else was all- inclusive so we were treated as such with slow service, watered-down drinks and cheap beer options. I mean, what kind of Mexican hotel doesn't offer Victoria or Bohemia? We had to complain to the manager just to get a Negro Modelo. Also, every time we ate at one of the hotel restaurants, the staff expected us to eat from the buffet but we like to order a la carte which was not preferred by them because the tip percentage was so much lower. For instance, the buffet costs $35/person and for some meals we only wanted some drinks with chips and guacamole which was only $35 total. We did notice that the service really improved when you tipped in cash.

The architecture was impressive. They even change the auroma of the hotel during the day.staff was very helpful all the time. The water color at the hotel was the best on the beach compared to the beach further north. All of the hotels want you to become a member of a vacation group, which we did. This is a good group of hotels all over the world. As always, you get what you pay for. Do your research before you buy. We are happy with ours because it fits what we want and need. Only complaint was the airconditioner was musty and did not dry the air well. It was cool in the room though.

We really enjoyed our stay, there. The room was comfortable and clean, a lot of space, balcony,..very nice beach ...breakfast menu has been changed a little bit everyday and food was really good ... hotel staff is really nice Internet connection did not work well ... very low wifi signal in our room and also cable connection was just poor...we used only 2-3 hours from prepayed 24h card If you like to go sleep early ... noisy live music every night might be a problem.

Gran Melia Cancun offers most of what other hotels of the same level offer to their guest. In this case, what distinguished Melia Cancun from othet hotels (including other of the same group) was the excellent service by two of the hostess, namely Aide and Lorena.
