The photos in the advertising were taken a long time ago, and it is quite shabby now.
I did not like the room we were first assigned, and was shown 3 other rooms, all much worse than the one we started in. I know that there are better rooms in this place but they were rented. Due to the Holidays we stayed, as most of the rooms in Cancun were unavailable. If it had been a different time of year, we would have stayed one night and looked around for a better room.
This is an ok place to stay. I would have been happier if the price wasn’t so high due to the “Season” it was not a “Good Value” for its price. I was also disappointed that all of the amenities that are listed on the website are not in every room. Some rooms have TV, some have refrigerators, and some have microwaves. I think this is deceitful and should be fixed. One big problem that we had, but it was fixed by the time we left: according to the reservation agreement we had up until 24 hours to cancel the reservation, and they were only to charge one night then, with the rest of the bill paid in full when we arrived. They charged the whole amount two weeks before our arrival and it was not remedied until 2 days after we arrived. If we had chosen to move, or not taken the room, it would have been a bigger problem. This is a management issue, and the manager was not sympathetic.
This is more a hostel than a hotel and if you go with that in mind, you will be ok. The rooms are very basic, there are no frills. The area is quiet and safe, and the staff at the desk speaks English. Most of the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Juan and Blanca were the desk clerks that we had the most contact with and we found them to be very charming and helpful. The housekeeper Martha does a very good job cleaning the room and is very talented at making decorative towel animals like on cruise ships and it really was a great surprise!
There is a small store on the grounds that sells drinks and snacks. At night they fire up a grill and serve some very good Tacos.
I chose a king sized bed as usually this type of room is bigger and it was a good choice. The room was good sized and the mattress of good quality. The bathroom did not have a door, so that was inconvenient. But it had all new fixtures, a rain head shower and very good water pressure and plenty of hot water. It was a “shower room” type of bathroom that can be messy.
The A/C in our room was modern, quiet and efficient.
Wifi as advertised was only available in the lobby, but it is secured and very fast. They have coffee made in the lobby in the morning, one pot for the whole hotel, so it is often empty.
If you need a Taxi they arrive minutes after a call from the front desk. Tour busses will pick you up right out front if you ask. To take a public bus however, it is nearly a mile walk out to the boulevard. It is a pleasant walk as this area is largely residential and near the lagoon. There is a wonderful modern grocery store that has everything you could need about two miles away.
There is a laundry next door to the hotel. They do a good job and the price is reasonable, it is always busy so don’t expect same-day-service.
So in short, if you don’t mind the deceitful advertising, and questionable business practices it is an ok place in a quiet neighborhood with friendly...
