“ We had a cabana right on the beach, maybe 50 feet from the water. The beach, water, and view were breathtaking. The ocean breeze was great to keep us from being too hot. It's perfect, if you value the raw beauty of nature, over amenities. ”

We had a cabana right on the beach, maybe 50 feet from the water. The beach, water, and view were breathtaking. The ocean breeze was great to keep us from being too hot. It's perfect, if you value the raw beauty of nature, over amenities. The staff was super nice & the food & cocktails were really good, even by my spoiled NYC standards. The Hemingway is very European Boho chic, everyone was Italian. They even have 2 adorable friendly cats that hang around. It felt very tranquil and private, but you could go out at night to other bars/restaurants for some lively interaction. After a few days, I was really missing a hot shower. The shower water is cool, which is ok most of the time, but not great. Plus, no AC, which can get a bit warm at night in May. The ocean breeze was absolutely necessary. I wouldn't trade a hot shower and AC for my amazing view and the sounds of the ocean though.

Nice rooms, good location, friendly staff, not too crowded A bit pricey - the most expensive place we stayed on our trip, although not the nicest room we stayed in. Food at the restaurant was also pricey.

The location along the sea and the nice beach My husband and I stayed 4 nights at Hemingway Romantic Eco Resort and it is the worst hotel we have ever stayed because: - the staff is not helpful and not friendly at all. The Italian girls at checkin and at the restaurant are very arrogant and do not have any skills to work in a hotel. - breakfast is very light: plate of fruits OR bread and jam. - the waiter for the breakfast is overwhelmed and does not take care of any clients...He pours coffee to everyone without asking what we drink and if you ask him tea, he rools his eyes and get pissed. - there are not enough tables in the restaurant room so you have to queue in the morning to get your breakfast. - I had to clean my breakfast table by myself and set my own placemat because the waiter was too busy and made me wait more than 20 minutes to take care of me and take my order. - the 1st morning, the waiter told me "I did not go to the grocery this morning, so there will only be a basic breakfast" and he served us couple slices of small bread and jam: for the price you pay in this hotel, it is unforgettable... - when leaving, my husband had to pull by himself our suitcase on the sand from our cabane along the beach to the road and nobody from the staff came to help...we even passed by the owner Paola who saw us struggling with our luggage and did not offer someone to help - one evening, the restaurant closed 15 minutes before its opening without notice just because 1 waiter was sick. We had made a reservation for dinner. Nobody gave us notice of the closing of the restaurant... - Beds are not comfortable - Value for money is terrible: very expensive hotel for the bad quality of service and food: you only pay for the nice location and the charming cabanes. - prices of the drinks at the bar are too high. - this Italian service is very poor compared to the great Mexican services in Mexico. Please avoid staying at Hemingway Romantic Eco Resort: you will be disappointed.

The location of the Hemingway is perfect for a stay in Tulum. We loved our room (The Estrella), the rustic style, the views and terrace were amazing. Very happy with the cleanliness and also the sun loungers. The food was also great. The breakfast in the morning was perfect - lovely coffee, toast, cake and either fruit or a croissant. I would definitely stay here again. I've read reviews on here where people talk about a lack of 'vibe' I didn't really think this would be an issue for us, but it is actually. The reason there is a lack of vibe is because the staff are in general, quite unfriendly. The only genuinely lovely and helpful staff were the two young girls that work there. Everyone was else helped with any problems or issues, but with no smile whatsoever. I felt guilty for asking for a drink or a glass with ice or a bit of info, like I was being an inconvenience. If you can ignore this though (I can) then it's a great place to stay. All they need to do is smile!

Although we arrived before 15hrs we were allowed to check-in; the gardeners and cleaning staff were very friendly. The bed was comfortable. The staff are not very friendly, when my husband asked if they had "salsa" (hot sauce) for our "quesadillas" the waiter replied, 'no, this is an Italian restaurant'. How rude! We were told we would get clean towels on the 3rd day of our stay butwe did not; our room did. Not have a fan. The hotel description must state that most two-people rooms are on the new part of the hotel which is on the others side of the road, hence further from the beach. In the restaurant there are almost no vegetarian options for lunch and dinner. All in all, too pricey.

The location is perfect. And we can have a solo small "house" in the jungle. Food is good, and I really like the breakfast and lunch. I don't know if there is a fan. Although the March is not too hot, but I still feel hot when we use the mosquito net in the evening.

We loved the quiet natural park with private cabanas and the ambiance of the small and rustic breakfast area, nicely prepared fresh food, wonderful staff, and the beach was beautiful and pleasantly occupied with just a few people. We were bothered by an odor outside our bungalow in the jungle; also the sound of a generator, but we think other bungalows may not have been intruded by this. Also a neighboring band played very loud and late Rap or hip hop music, destroying, at times, the serenity we prefer. Why not get them to consider offering soothing local Folk or soft Mexican Cantina music?

Nice hotel by the beach, very good food at the restaurant (don't know about breakfast as it was too full to host all guests!!, But lunch and dinner were great). The yoga classes are very good and the lady running it is very professional and nice. First of all the bungalow we booked was not as it appeared on Booking.com. We thought we would have view to the beach (as it appeared very clear on the pictures of the category we choose), but we were assigned a bungalow on the other side of the street aprox 70 meters from the beach and the reception!!! The italian lady at the reception blamed Booking.com for posting the wrong pictures....... We expected her to react on the misunderstanding, but after blaming Booking.com she just said that she would write an e-mail to the owner - and then she never got back to us and we didn't complain again as it was clearly that she didn't have the authority to compensate in any way. On our second day we wished to have breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The restaurant was full when we arrived. It consists of tables suited for 4-6 people, all of them occupied by 2 persons only. The lady at the breakfast was really stressed and kept avoiding us and the other guests at the entrance. She would just pass and look the other way instead of letting us know that she had seen us and would attend us whenever possible. When we finally got her attention she wouldn't seat us with other guests and we weren't allowed to have our breakfast in the lounge area at terrace!!! It's not a large place - there are 5 tables inside and 2 outside, so I guess it happens often that the guests can't have breakfast at the hotel. Anyway, we went across the street and found the restaurant Restaurare (vegan cuisine) where we had the BEST pancakes, granola and juices ever! Great staff who even prepared a bananacake for us on our last day to bring on the trip to the airport! We had our breakfast there the rest of the holiday. The facilities at Hemingway are nice, but the customer service is terrible! It's a shame because the place is beautiful. We wouldn't stay there again.

Beach-front location. Excellent, though expensive, restaurant. Excellent, varied breakfast with choices. Watching pelicans and terns bomb into the water just feet from the sand, frigate birds, rock pools. Friendly staff. Few people on beach. No fan, no electricity until 2pm.

Ambience, restaurant on beach, lovely artistic touches, cabanas Payments had to be in cash, converting a quoted dollar rate on booking.com to pesos using a poor exchange rate even though pesos local currency; as we are not Americans this involved multiple exchange rate charges in taking out money from atm then paying it presumably using a peso to dollar exchange rate for booking.com and then a dollar to peso one on payment - all to save them a small cc charge. The deposit had been paid using paypal email payments, this did not feel very secure and was never officially confirmed.

I loved the setting and appreciated being off teh beach in my little cabana as it was quiet and cooler during the day. The staff are great and I highly recommend attending Melina's yoga class and splurge and have a massage by - it was fantastic. I found the whole area super expensive. Eating out is mucho pesos so look aroung for cheap places, eat in Tulum or shop for food.

Adorable caban. Didn't realize cabana was on the otherside of the road vs. On the beach side. However it was really peaceful on that side and I really ended up liking it once they moved me from the cabin next to the road. It was very noisy.

Location right on the beach, it is a nice size resort not to over crowded. Rooms are like cabanas, colourful, and very clean. The staff are friendly and easy going bi-lingual which is very helpful. Wifi access in common areas, delicious Italian meal options and complimentary breakfast is also what makes the stay more appealing! I love the design of the place, they have the best hammocks and beach beds!

South east of Tulum, on the beach, close to the Maya ruins, this 'eco-friendly' cluster of cabins is definitely 'special' - but we enjoyed the difference from the normal Yucatan mega hotel. It is literally a stone's throw from the white sand beach and turquoise Atlantic. Not a real criticism, but the limited 'eco electricity' meant that even the ceiling fan stopped at midnight (no aircon - and it was hot and humid, even in end-September).

This is a fantastic hotel, perfect getaway from manic city life. The beach is beautiful, the cabins and the whole setting is so picturesque. The food at the restaurant was incredible, by far the best meal of my whole stay in Mexico and to rival some of the best restaurants in New York for a fraction of the price. This place is heaven.
