First of all, if you decide to choose Hostal Haina as your accommodation in Cancun - you will not be disappointed. It is close to the ADO bus station and most importantly very clean. Your bed, even in the dorm, will be made every day. Breakfast is served btween 7 am - 11 am and consist of orange juice, toast, croissant, butter, jam and coffee or tea. The kitchen area is located on the 1st floor. It is a common area with a little patio at the back where you can leave your laundry to dry. The entire hostel has good Wi-Fi connection and a common computer to use if you want - it costs a dollar per hour. There is a little lounge with a sofa and some board games. Reception is open 24h and the hostel gate is always closed - offering security through the entire day and night.
Check out the little garden area at the back and try delicious mangoes from the tree in the garden. They are sweet and delicious - a nice addition to your breakfast.
There is drinking water available too, free of charge which is an added benefit.
Bathrooms are cleaned on a daily basis as are the bedrooms.
The hostel staff is helpful, friendly, happy to talk to you and offer advice. I had chats with Fernando - a lovely man - almost every night.
If you are looking for a party place - well this isn't one - you need to find another one in Cancun. You will get a good night’s sleep here.
Nearby areas are Park Palpas - you need to go there in the evening. There are market stalls - with good prices, Mercado 28 is more expensive - so do your souvenir shopping here as there are not many tourists. Most importantly nobody will accost you.
Food is varied and cheap - tacos, empanadas, quesadillas, mole poblano, papas y salchichas will cost you between 15-40 pesos depending how much you eat. On average expect to pay 25 pesos for a filling meal.
When you arrive to the ADO bus station you have two options of getting to the hostel - the longer one via Av.
