Score from 610 reviews Very good
- Very friendly stuff - Good mexican breakfast (varying from day to day) - Small but beautiful "private" beach with free sunlounger for guests - Before and after checking in/out we could leave our baggage there and still had the possibility to use a toilet and shower downstairs - Due to overbooking we were upgraded to a nice beachside suite :) -> Our nicest stay in the Riviera Maya!
- Low wifi in rooms, but good in lobby - salty shower water (both didnt really bother us)
I loved this place so much i never wanted to leave would come back in a heartbeat. Great location
The front desk hotel staff was amazing. She went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. She was extremely helpful with any questions we had regarding resturaunts and day excursions. There was a project being done on the deck above our room and she gave us a bottle of wine to compensate even though we hadn't been bothered by it in the least. It was only a couple hours and we had been beachside the whole time. Outstanding customer service.
Quite honestly nothing. The other reviews that have any negatives must be from Mexico first time visitors. If your looking for a posh experience then look for a hotel of $300+ a night. But, if you want a great beachside value, great service and cultural experience than this rustic but very clean and well serviced hotel is the best one. I did plenty of homework and glad I did!
The staff at Posada is absolutely the best. Tania, Mauricio and the entire kitchen and shop staff were always available and so helpful. The rooms are exquisite as is the lobby and dining room. Very well appointed and such a wonderful colors of Mexico throughout the property.
The only draw back was the beach front is very small. But it is easy to walk to nearby beaches if you want to sit on the beach all day.
Great place to relax. We've stayed here a couple times and will be back. It's on a semi private beach that has many great restaurants and shops right next door. You could spend your whole trip in this 300 yard stretch of beach road. The staff is great and very helpful. The included breakfast is wonderful and WiFi is fast. We can't wait for our next stay at the Posada del Sol!
I proposed to my wife here and have nothing bad to say about the Posada. That being said, this place is not for everyone. The rooms are kinda quirky. We always stay in the Luna room, which is a roof top deck that has awsome an 360° view. But there is a "bunk bed" stair case to get up to the bedroom and deck. And as with most places we've stayed in Tulum the mattress is not great. We go to Tulum to lay on the beach, not the bed. If you are going to Tulum for the first time this is a great place to stay as long as you are a hearty soul and in no way "high maintenance". Contact them via email to chose a room that is right for you.
Location and staff very very nice. Also the beach room was great, but open toilet can be a tricky one if you are a new couple... Everything except the mosquitos; there were so many of those crazy little creatures when we stayed there (October and rainy weather).
Mosquitos plus ocean gets very loud in stormy nights, if staying next to beach.
The most attractive is the view from the room on the sea. Nice place.
Simply said: a beautiful place! From the tasteful decor of the whole property, to the attentive staff that was helpful prior to our arrival through the whole stay, to the location that has a convenience store, few restaurants few steps away and is even walking distance to the Tulum ruins, swimmable clean beach with lounge chairs.... We were absolutely happy with our choice to find this place and will come back for sure. For anyone staying at Posada I would recommend to stay at the sea side to be able to enjoy the spectacular views, breeze and sound of crashing waves (and an amazing sunrise should you wake up early enough).
Eco lodge, interesting design, nice breakfast with some variety
Extremely friendly staff. Great location with a nice private beach. Very good continental breakfast as well as excellent restaurants within walking distance.
Had to switch rooms because the garden room was too hot, no a/c.
the location is perfect the smile of the personel the ananas juice at the breakfast if you ask for extra bread, to finish your eggs/jam they will give you the water pot for your feet before entering in your room.. -perfect-
the price could be more reasonable
- everything but the water in the shower
- the water in the shower, tasted like filtered sea water and left you feeling not super clean
Private beach (for the most part), good restaurants nearby, beautiful area. Breakfast was decent, but a little light. Staff very nice and accommodating. Free fast wifi, but no place to charge anything (luckily I carry portable batteries for that reason).
Nice rooms, just a bit expensive for hat you get. No hot water.
The architecture of the hotel was beautiful, the local stunning. I would definitely recommend to others.
The fact that the water was off on the morning we left and the incessant pounding from the construction site right next door.
Nice and quiet place. Spacious bedroom, good breakfast, changing everyday. Access to a very small but nice beach
Room is very spartiat (bathroom/toilet open to the bedroom, no closets to tap the main windows), no air conditioning (ecological place). Our bedroom was not located in the main part so we had to cross the road to access entrance/breakfast place/beach
Private beach, friendly staff, close to food, helped us orgainse day trips, internet in rooms
No power outlets in rooms, non beachfront rooms get really hot
On the beach
no air conditioning
The room was very spacious and clean, the balcony with hammock and chairs was great!
We are backpackers and were looking for a nice treat after a long and exhausting trip. We booked this hotel, but had better service in a lot of the hostels we've stayed before. Also, the breakfast was included, but it was really little. Most people won't have enough. This is a sad, because the hotel is too pricy to have to go the bakery across the street after breakfast, because you are still hungry. Most people who go to Tulum don't know this, but in many many hostels you get the same/better service for only 1 tenth of the price.
We were in the moon -Luna - suite .- An amazing very spacious two storey bathroom and bedroom with a private sun balcony all overlooking the ocean. So much space, sun and sea. Very helpful staff, gorgeous simple breakfasts. we loved it - it was hard to leave.
Be aware that in the small print that not all the bill was paid for in advance. You pay the balance on arrival!
Location was right on the beach, and the room was really well crafted with beautiful earthy materials. Lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance, but the hotel was still very private and quiet.
Hot water did not work and no air conditioning, but you are on the beach, so I did not mind at all. For environmentally-friendly travelers, this was a great place.
The location is perfect. The private beach cove is beautiful--white, soft sand and limestone outcroppings that you can sunbathe on. The staff was, for the most part, very helpful.
Be aware of the parking situation--there is one spot that allows someone else to park behind you, blocking you in. The front desk should ask for the car key of those cars to facilitate the blocked car getting out, but they currently do not, leaving you without access to your car.
We loved the private cove of beach the property is on!
Staff was all fairly unfriendly.
Fabulous staff helped with several special needs. Craftsmanship of the hotel is extraordinary. In laid beams and glassworks panels build into the stucco walls. River stone in the floors. Beautiful glazing on bathroom walls and floors. Gorgeous
Beach could be a little bigger
Amazing views from ocean front room, great decor, and the staff was superb. Unlike other reviewers, I felt that the breakfast was nice, coffee, fresh juice, fruit, and yogurt. Beach was small but easily able to find a place to grab some sun.
The shower was always cold and the bed was pretty uncomfortable. For the price, felt that those aspects should have been better.
Charming little hotel. Great location
The only complain is that the Mattress was too hard. Please replace.
