The owners of the hotel are an old couple. They are very hospitable and passionate to give us many useful information. The hotel makes you a feeling of at home. And it's close to the ruins and beach. Nice!
We got lost in town when looking for the hotel & became frustrated. Once we found the hotel, got checked in & saw our room, we were extremely pleased. The hotel is within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants & bars. The owners are extremely charming & accomodating.
We didn't have hot water in the morning.
The bathroom wall doesn't go up all the way to the ceiling; so, the odor in the bathroom = the odor in the room.
extremely unfriendly staff
The rooms and the whole hotel are nicely furnished and the owners are very welcoming and helpful. It has a unique touch and everything one needs to relax and get into holiday mood. Location is good as a little outside the busy main street and thus quiet.
The street where the hotel is located looks a little dodgy and lonely at first. The bathroom is built into the room with a nice little palapa roof, however walls are not completely shut…thus privacy in the bathroom is limited...
Staff was knowledgeable: gave excellent recommendations for restaurants and shops. Had good recommendations for places to see. Breakfast was great with a local theme.
Shower water didn't get too hot, but that was typical in every place we stayed.
Small family hotel with very helpful and pleasant owners. Spacious and clean rooms with little balconies equipped with hammocks. In the yard with few tables you can take your morning coffee, chat with owners and other guests and surf the internet. Near the central street of Tulum.
We would appreciate Wi-Fi in rooms.
Lovely courtyard and setting.
The owners are amazing. It's a hidden treasure in a quiet spot just off the main strip of Tulum pueblo. Clean, comfy, quiet, nice retreat..
Nothing. It was perfect.
Owners are extremely helpful. Rooms are great.
Wi fi was not working.
Very nice place
Area of city is a little run down
big and very clean rooms. The host are so friendly and helpful. Good location.
Location good that it was on a side st. away from town noise. Big bed, extremely comfortable mattress. Very secure. Big room.
All rooms we saw(3) smelled musty. Shower was small and water saturated floor of bathroom thus reason for mop left in bathroom. In our opinion rooms were overpriced. Wifi not that good in room.
The beds were very comfortable. The room was quiet and was clean. The room's accessories were chosen with good taste, although often not functional.
Long-winded negative reviews are irritating, but so is the overall attitude of this uppity hotel, so bear with me. Lo Nuestro professes to offer an alternative to the impersonal excess of the "Riviera Maya", in which tours and resorts allow you access to some kind of fabricated paradise. The owner promised to show me "the way Mexico really is." Well, I hope the rest of Mexico isn't like this hotel. As soon as I arrived he asked me to pay up, before I saw the room or even put down my bag, and he gave us a hard time about wanting to see our accommodations first. He said, "Nobody has ever asked to see the room first! What are you going to do if you don't like it?" Then he overcharged me. He eventually honored the price listed on this website, but it took some work. This initial experience made me and my companions feel unwelcome, and ruined any sense of homeyness. Because I didn't feel welcomed, other superficial problems seemed bigger, especially since the owner was so insistent that "this is the best hotel you'll ever find." Here's a list of functional issues with "one of the most beautiful rooms in the world," as he put it: • The toilet and shower are inside a weird "palapa cubicle" with the sink outside. You can hear all of the funky noises your companion(s) make when they rush to the toilet in the middle of the night. •The doorknob fell off when I was in the bathroom and I got stuck before I wrangled it back on and escaped. I almost climbed on the toilet and over the wall of the palapa cubicle... •There are 2 outlets, neither near the bed, and no lamps. •The hammock in your private patio looks great, but it is literally inside one of the plants out there. •There's nowhere to hang your wet beach stuff. •The sink leaked, which explains why there was a weird mop next to the toilet.
