The owner is very friendly and helpful, he told us everything we needed to know about what to do around there and has even a couple of mountain bikes available for guest that want to go for a ride. Breakfast was good, we had it at the table in front of the beach and was very nice. We had problems at the airport getting our car and we arrived at Mayambe almost at 3am instead of midnight but he woke up immediately to greet us and give us the keys.
unfortunately the place needs to be more cared about, wasn't very clean at all, including blankets and sheets of our bed. Some dark curtains would not be a bad idea for people that want to have a decent sleep after a long travel to get there. Wi-fi was not strong at all in the room, we had to go in the lobby to have it working properly, but this is kind of a minor issue.
Everything was really perfect. The owner Ernesto is outstanding and helps and arranges everything according to your needs! We are already looking forward to come here again as soon as possible and could recommend this location for 100%!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The manager absolutely will make your holiday! He is so friendly and welcoming, he makes you feel instantly at home! He goes above and beyond to ensure that you are comfortable in everyway and makes sure that you are treated with the upmost individual care and attention. The location is second to none, a private beach with white sand and palm trees. We woke up and watched the sun rising over the sea every morning with no sound other than the gentle lapping of the tiny waves- idealic and very peaceful. The location means that it is very quiet and secluded although there are regular buses into the town still and the ferries to Isla Mujeres within walking distance. There are also a couple of bikes that can be used for free. The wifi is super fast which was fantastic! Breakfast is provided which is very personal and lovingly prepared every morning. There are no other meals available although there is a very basic kitchen and a very affordable restaurant just meters away. The Hotel zone is quite a long way away so this is perfect really for someone wanting to get away from the typical Cancun holiday experience and have some peace and quiet away from the crowds or those on a budget but still wanting to explore this beautiful place.
The room was very basic but large and comfortable. Many of the sun loungers are broken and everything has a slight look of dilapidation about it but this is a budget option- if a 5* hotel experience is what you are after then this is available in the hotel zone for double or triple the price! This is a rustic, home from home, budget option and for this it great! Would highly recommend!
It was very relaxing and the host went out of his way to make me feel at home. It is not a "village" but a villa. A private home on the beach with 4 rental units.
Atmosphere of this guesthouse with private beach is relaxing, pleasant and easy-going. The place owner, badass with a romantic twist, is always willing to help. Grocery store few blocks away and the area holds a couple of good seafood restaurants within walking distance. Easy to get to the city in every hour with minibus or taxi.
Kitchen equipment was limited.
The views are stunning and it's a truly relaxing chilled out experience staying here.
It's incredibly remote and difficult to find. The kitchen facilities are lacking. You really do need a car
comfortable bed and pillows, very friendly host who is also non-intrusive which is such a good mix, excellent morning breakfast on the beach (loved this part!), TV in the room, free parking, marvellous views from the location
kitchenette was in the adjoining building which gets locked at night - we didn't realise this, we thought the kitchenette was part of the room... the supplied fridge in the room is not good enough to cool.
Very nice and friendly owner, delicious breakfest at the time You wish, clean and comfotable room with big bed, bathroom and fridge, access to the kitchen, bbq and private beach. We have really enjoyed our holidays at Mayambe and can recommend it to everyone!
About 10 minutes by car to the city centre (but You can catch the taxi everywhere on the street and it is not expencive)
We stayed at Mayambe for 5 days and absolutely loved out experience! Ernesto and Maria went out of their way our entire stay to help us get around and see everything we wanted to see! We got in late so we opted for the romantic dinner on the beach and it was worth every penny! The location is in Puerto Juarez (close to downtown Cancun) so we took the IDO bus (you can buy tickets at the stand outside of the airport) to central bus station then grabbed a taxi. If you tell them you are near Sea Adventure or the Flamingo restaurant they usually know how to get there. Mayambe is down a dirt road so at night it can be confusing, but it took us no time to figure our way around during the day. There is a taxi can that runs right outside the house that you can flag down. We would usually jump on for 7 pesos and ride until we saw the blue line bus and then would transfer to get to the hotel zone. All in all our experience was absolutely amazing. We did have wifi on our side of the house and amazing air conditioning. The best part was Maria's breakfast and coffee on the patio in the morning watching the sun come up. We can't wait to go back!!!!
Location was a bit far from hotel zone but that was also a plus...we had our own beach and privacy.. If you're not afraid to ask for help the location is perfect. Just bring snacks with you :)
I could not have picked a better place to stay on my trip to Cancun. Mayambe is a simple, relaxing place to base your trip from. Great location! I rented a car for the week from Concord Car Rental and was so happy with the location of my hotel. Very quiet, amazing private beach to watch to sunrise from or relax for the day. The view of Isla Mujeres at night is fantastically beautiful. Great places to eat or have a drink all on the beach in quite Puerto Juarez, you can walk to Flamingo's or drive/taxi/collectivo/bike to many other fantastic restaurants. Very safe, I never felt uncomfortable at any time. The people of Cancun are fantastic, most speak a little english and many are fluent but it was very easy to get by speaking limited spanish. Ernesto (owner) and his sister Maria Jose are great people, very nice, accommodating and helpful. My room was perfect for me. Nice comfy bed with an air conditioner to sleep well. Refrigerator to keep a few cervesas in or food. The pool is small but perfect for swimming around in after a day of adventure and is very clean. Breakfast! Maria Jose and Ernesto spoiled me with the best mango's I have ever had every morning for breakfast. Very good coffee and pastries with fruit and juice. Ernesto has every toy you can think of to play in the water with and also UNDERWATER CAMERAS to rent!!! I came to Cancun to dive but didn't have an underwater camera, Ernesto did! It takes great photos, like a gopro but better with a screen to view on the back. The new massuse is also great. I took a massage my last morning before traveling home and it was very relaxing. Overall for me it was the perfect place to stay and I made some great memories and friends at Mayabe!
Ernesto is not only running this place but very hospitable. He will do everything what you need as a guest. We booked the place for two night but we extended our stay. This is the place you should go if you want to avoid the touristic hotel zone.
we suggest you to ask for a room with wifi if you need wifi, otherwise you need to go to the other house to use it.
-Its right at the beach -amazing view for relaxation -amazing hospitality -good for couples who wants to be far from the city and noisy environment -great view and comfort -For those who seek quiet and peace, this is the place. owner is extremely nice, he will go all out and doing his best to make you feel comfortable. -No wifi or tv. great for relaxation. but need to drive as its pretty far in. amazing place!
-Nice view on the Ocean! -Owner was very friendly! He solved all of our complaints!
-some rooms need to be renovated. But as I said the owner is very friendly and he's doing his best. -WLAN is only in some areas available not in the whole bulidung.
If you look for a place to relax this is where you have to go. It is directly at a privat beach with a beautiful view to Isla Mujeres. The owner takes care of all your wishes and could not be nicer
Absolutely not acceptable. Very far from any services in that area! No connection with the city. No food store around. Upon our arrival in that place we faced with closed door and selling sign above it!
- owner was great, friendly and helpful in any way - location was perfect - almost like deserted beach, no one else around - sunny and peaceful - great restaurant only couple of steps away
- room was little too small for two but cozy and ideally for sun worshipers - due to humidity, there was mold and no cleaning at all during seven nights of stay - quite expensive but experience worth
Excellent overall - would highly recommend it !!! Very comfortable room with everything you’ll need... Clean and spacious bathroom… Terrace with access to a lovely private beach… Quiet and location remote from Cancun’s center and party zone (spring breakers, party-goers and night life fans probably won’t like it and should rather look for something else…)
We stayed at Mayambe for 5 days because it is steps away from the beach and an amazing and tranquil alternative to the Hotel Zone of Cancun. Mayabme is a short bus ride to the city center, ADO bus terminal, and ferry to Isla Mujeres. Mayabme is also within walking distance of the Mayan ruins of El Meco, a fantastic sea food restaurant (Flamingos) and has a very accommodating and knowledgeable host. The reef diving/snorkeling is also a short boat ride away to some unforgettable waters. Perfecto!
There was nothing to dislike.
Absolutely awesome stay! Ernesto is the owner and he was beyond accommodating, incredibly generous and would stop at nothing to fulfill our needs. For the money, you can't beat Mayambe. We will definitely be back!
Peaceful location View from bedroom Very helpful owner
