If you have a car it's perfect, however, without a car it's 10
min walk from the main road and 3 min ride with collectivo to the beach.
During our one month trip in Mexico, this was the best place to stay for
peace, quiet and nature (jungle). It felt like you were away from
civilization, in a completely organic and very mystical place.
OY has 3 cabañas with private bathrooms, a great air conditioning and super fast Wi-fi (it was the best of all hotels we had in Mexico), and every cabaña has a patio protected by net, where you can chill at night without being attacked by mosquitos.
The energy was very peaceful, you can feel it right when you first arrive to OY. It was a very particular experience. The host, Leon, was amazing. He is a great spiritual teacher with unique experience living a very simple and inspiring life. There is a lot to learn from him. He offered free yoga and meditation classes and payed attention to personal needs. We attended one of his Merkaba workshops and learned a lot about Vipassana and other type of meditations. He's also a chef and he can cook you something! He was very welcoming and was willing to show us around and give us great suggestions and advices. We felt like at home and we brough back to Canada the best memories.
We would have much rather stayed here and visited other cities like Tulum from Akumal. It has great location to explore around, because it's 10 min walk from the main road where you can take a collectivo (shuttle bus) to Akumal centre, Playa del Carmen, Tulum or amusement parks like Xplor (we highly recommend it), cenotes and ruins.
For those who want to escape the civilization, but yet to be close to everything (like the beach and the city), who loves nature, spiritual development and growth, who are not afraid of little friends like spiders and lizards, this is the place.
We would highly recommend to stay at OY for a unique, inspiring and spiritual experience !
Best Regards to Leon ! :)
