Friendliness, cleanliness, being on the beach- Eco consciousness. Tours, activities on offer- really quality experiences - can't wait to go back
That bikes aren't for rent from property it's way cheaper for travelers than cabs
We had a great stay here, you feel like you are in paradise the beach is amazing. The rooms are also gorgeous with excellent views.
straight on the beach, the restaurant and bar area are a slice of paradise. It keeps you in contact with nature, it has character and a special atmoshpere
nothing in particular. I liked the fact of it being basic, with low electricity, and not all the comforts of a luxury place but maybe some people wouldn't be up for it.
Organized, very friendly and efficient staff Beautiful location directly at the beach Great food The Spa - best message ever, with the sound of the ocean in the background You can rent bikes
The mosquitos ;)
The beach in comparison. The high price for the low quality of "eco". the mosquitoes!
Beach Little cabanas Hipster style Very friendly staff Good breakfast
Loved the overall setting. It felt like you were going on an adventure every time you left your cabana. The staff was very accommodating and it was great seeing them out during the full moon party having a good time too.
There was no AC in our first unit so we had to upgrade. Sheets felt very starched and uncomfortable. Even though we were paying quite a bit per night, our unit still did not cover breakfast. Overall felt like a lot of money to be paying for a small level of comfort. I also wished they had bikes available on hand since the hotel is located a bit off the strip.
accomodation. beach - much nicer further up. no nice finishing touches i.e soap bowls for the bathroom etc
Its charming and tasteful. The cabanas/rooms in front of the sea are also the rustic style, however nice and comfortable. Different from what we read on the reviews. Great view. From the restaurant and bar. Good restaurant, bar and beach club. It does not have plugs in the from, so you have to charge your phone in the beach club or the reception. But it was fine buy us. No big complains about that. No AC, but the fans managed well at night. And it was a really hot period. So, you'll be ok. The crew in the restaurant where very friendly, the ones in the reception, not so much. Everyone speaks english. Most of the guest are cool, good looking hipsters/advertising/etc fairly young people. It can be good or a bit annoying, depends on what you feel confy around. NOT for backpackers, look for cheaper and more real cabanas in the north of the beach.
Everything in the hotel is expensive and they charge you extra for anything: Late checkout, plug adaptors, etc. The bar and restaurant are expensive. It overpriced in general. They take advantage of their good taste: it look pretty so we can charge. Also, they give you less in name of 'eco', but is really just a way of making more money. IMPORTANT: They have a Dj on the Beach/bar/restaurant (they are all together) from 12 pm to 6pm who only plays electronic music. If you like, fine. For me it was truly annoying wanting to chill on a paradisiac beach and having a paranoic club song playing along all the time. It kind of ruined for me. And I'm young and enjoy going to clubs, at night though. Not the most beautiful part of the beach. Don't get me wrong, it remains very beautiful, but we saw other ever better looking spots of beach in Tulum. Also, this place has stones when you go in to the sea, so is not only sand, sea and calm waters, you have to watch your step.
the new beach front rooms were amazing. Expensive but lovely.
Get rid of the feral cats, which roamed around the restaurant whilst you were eating.
The cabanas, the fact that it always calm and not crowded, the beauty of the place, the beach and the facilities. Everything was amazing !
the staff the vibe the scenery the food the beach
the mosquito nets the cracks in the walls that let in lizards
Loved the sea breeze, but unfortunately because of the design of the huts it didn't extend into the room. Thank goodness we had a room on the beach, as I would hate to think how warm and stuffy the garden view rooms were.
No cross ventilation in rooms. There was no windows in the bathroom so no breeze going through, an the bathroom smelt when we walked in. The rooms were hot and we had to keep the fan on all night - not eco friendly. Didn't like being bitten by mosquitos when you had to use your computer in the lounge off reception. Didn't like lots of plastic and bottles on the beach. Didn't like the low light in the rooms - made it impossible to read.
The location of this complex was good comparatively however its position on headland meant it was prone to strong winds. I thought the restaurant/bar area was excellent. A pleasant place to sit and unwind at the end of a busy or not so busy day. The full moon parties were a great way to meet people.
I had a "ocean front cabana" which was staggeringly overpriced at US$200 per night. The cabana was wasn't really ocean front at all. It was one back from the true ocean front cabanas although I could directly see the sea from my room. The room was tiny and very basic almost to the point of being run down. Don't expect to find rental bikes here, they don't supply them. In summary, there are much better places to stay along Tulum beach at much better prices. Look around.
We loved the huge beach and the restaurant & lounge areas. Papaya Playa is a great spot to enjoy the beach with a cocktail in hand.
Our ocean view cabana was a bit cramped and was really warm at night. The cool breeze from the ocean didn't seem to make it into the cabana and made it tough to sleep even with the fan on. Also the beach bottom was a bit rocky when swimming.
Loved the fact that it's on the beach and you hear the waves while you are sleeping.
The bungalow's are too small. You can't even fit your suitcase.
The property and views were gorgeous and beautifully kept. The staff was hospitable, kind and helpful. it was SO relaxing. We loved that we could camp out on a bed on the beach and have great food and drink service all day. Brilliant!
We had a few issues with bugs, but we realize we were in the jungle. The food at dinner could be stepped up a little-it arrived cold one night and the service was a bit slow.
Location and paradisiacal beach, lush vegetation, very relaxing massages at the spa, the restaurant and the bar are creative and nice, wi-fi connection at public areas is excellent and free.
The photos on the site are not honest, the cabanas are very minimalist, almost rudimentary and small, bad chairs and all water available for bathing and personal hygiene is salty. Dusty pathways in the gardens. Higher prices and the hotel strictly comply with the times of entry and departure at 3:00 pm 11:00 am, even though you've traveled for 10 hours and the cabanas are available.
the beach was beautiful the food was good
the staff was a little pretentious the hotel was too far from alternative food options there was no air circulation in the cabana the cabana was so damp everything stayed wet
This hotel has one of the largest territories in the whole Tulum and the large private beach
The picture of the room and the one we have got were different to the extent, that there were no sockets, no wi-fi, no electricity at nights, no view. We complained and managed to get another room, which had sockets. For the price of over USD dollars that I believe is unfair.
location was great close to pueblo if needed. beach is beautiful. beach chairs are awesome and needed. Very convenient restaurant. nice ambiance. wish we wouldve been there on a weekend to get the full experience.
we were located in the last room (37) and one night we smelled what seemed like a sewer smell
The staff was very friendly and helpful, location is great, spa had all kinds of massage and everything was very clean.
The room without the air conditioning we've booked was very tiny, warm and ceiling was short. We were able to upgrade our room, so we recommend you to get a room with ac.
The beach, the jungle, the beautiful design of the hotel.
Sleeping in a beach front cabin was great while the weather was fine. however the wind in Tulum can get crazy and made it nearly impossible to sleep at night. After 3 nights of no sleep, we asked the staff to change our room however they couldn't find a replacement for us. we had to cancel our 2 last nights and move somewhere else. Also, the restaurant is relatively expensive, the food is not particularly good and the service is extra slow.
The staff was extremely, extremely slow. 2h to get a continental breakfast that was not more than a few toasts, coffee, and juice. Totally under-staffed and a non-care attitude.
We loved our stay at Papaya Playa! Our little ocean view hut was amazing and the staff and everyone there was so friendly and helpful. We can't wait to come back and have told all of our friends they MUST go!
I have no complaints about our stay!
