Overall our 5 night stay was excellent with a very comfortable suite and first class service.
I did not like having to book all our evening meals on arrival and overall we believed the restaurant food could have been better.
Amazing place and setup, all bars and restaurants were first class and the staff are great. The lads in the swim up bar are a great laugh and great asset to this hotel. Tip them in the morning and you will never be short of a drink. The food was also great, never had a poor meal. Some things I did not like was down to taste but the quality and presentation was exceptional. Me and my new wife loved it.
First room we had was a suite with swim up balcony which sounds great but because of the time of year, the section of the hotel we stayed in never got any sun. From sun rise to sunset so we had to upgrade and pay extra. They should know by the seasons if the rooms where you pay extra for the swim up balcony will get any sun. This did annoy me a little and the staff on the front desk were not very good when I informed them! In fact one of them told me he could not control the sun!!!!! Really! But you do know where it rises and sets and you should not be charging me for this added extra when it is redundant!! Rant over. Apart from this minor thing it was great. Ask for a room that will be in the sun.
Hotel has exceeded our expectations Great staff - Suzanna + Monica Great restaurants Mayan Pyramids Fifth Avenue All adults pool
This resort was truly wonderful, and we will defiantly be going back. The staff and facility was all great.

Room decor was very nice. Pool area and service were excellent - we could always find chairs and cabanas. Very friendly staff.
HORRIBLE moldy/musty smell in the room. Housekeeping did a thorough cleaning the next day, which improved the smell. But, if the maids missed a day or we turned the air conditioning down, the smell quickly returned. We had to keep the AC fan on high and leave the patio doors open a crack at all times to keep the smell down. The staff rarely replenished the mini-bar. We had to request refills nearly every day. The food included in the all-inclusive was mediocre. The beef at every restaurant was tough, chewy and bland. Our confirmation said all food was included. However, the only high-quality restaurant there, Passions, was not included. It cost an extra $90 per person per dinner. Very misleading. La Perla is supposed to be adults-only, but it shares space and many restaurants with a family resort. Every restaurant requires reservations. The only walk-up (buffet) restaurant allowed families/kids. It was very loud due to many noisy kids and marble decor. We've been to a few 5-star resorts in Mexico. Overall, this one was the worst value at $650 per night, especially for low-mid season.
I didn't like the fact that you pay to stay at a adult only hotel and the family hotel is next door. There were separate restaurants but kids in the halls and on beach, just not relaxing. I would bring my family there but would not go back for a relaxing or romantic time.
The service level was great. The all-inclusive restaurants delivered!
The Royal Service package is a bit overrated.
- Service was outstanding - Room was very clean and bed was comfortable - Delicious food - Quality drinks
- The beach was not ideal for swimming - lots of rocks and seaweed all over the sand. - No shuttle service to 5th Ave - Spa services are very expensive once tips and taxes are included
As soon as we walked into the resort we were impressed by the atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and they would do absolutely anything for you. We loved our room. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean and spacious. Since we celebrated an anniversary and a birthday on the trip, there was something special in our room every day, from rose petals to balloons to wine, champagne & cake. The swim up bar is awesome. The bartenders will make anything for you. Make sure to ask for the top shelf liquor since it is included. The beach was much nicer than we expected. There is a roped off area that is sandy and the water was really pretty. Reye, the beach waiter will set you up with the umbrella and keeps the drinks coming. The food at all of the restaurants was very fresh, unique and delicious. We can't say enough about how much we were impressed by the resort. We would definitely go back!!!
We read the reviews warning us of the pressure to join the Melia Club Rewards. We were asked during our greeting at the resort to consider looking at the rewards program and we were asked 2 more times to listen to their proposal. We didn't want to spend one minute of our precious vacation listening to a sales pitch. They understood, but they should drop this entire line of marketing!
I thought the food was fantastic and the drink selection was great! The entertainment was really nice.
I did not like the beach. The water was to murky because of all the seaweed and rocks. I know it's tough to control what Mother Nature does, just wish the beach was nicer.
Everything was excellent. We had Royal service which I can recommend as well.
The beach had some nasty under water rocs which you could not see so to go out in the water without bathing shoes could be dangerous.
We liked everyfing... The food was very good! Service was exellent!
Spa procedures are very expencive
The resort was so relaxing and was absolutely amazing visually with a modern zen style decor. Where ever we went we felt relaxed, no lines, no waiting, fawning all over us with drinks, and making sure we were happy at all times. Cant say enough about this place. we were in royal service section.
if you go into Playa to shop on 5th avenue, take off your wrist band...they know where you stay which is creepy and a safety issue i think. they will act like they know you from the resort and try to work that angle to sell you their goods.
Nice resort. Great room! Great pool.
The beach left something to be desired. Bar service at the beach and pool were inadequate. They need more bars in these areas.
Absolutely fantastic - the best "all inclusive" that we have been too. The resort was full but it certainly did not seem like it at all. Great food, fantastic service and amazing atmosphere. The staff were really helpful. The Royal Service and the swim-up rooms are really worth it...
Great location away from Cancun. Excellent food, top shelf drinks. Very attentive and not annoying staff. Wifi fast and omnipresent. Spend some more money and get royal service room. It's worth it! We were reluctant to go back home
The door lock broke 2 times in a raw. Though fixed in 5 minutes
The room I booked had a really bad damp smell. They then gave us a different room which had 2 double beds instead of a king bed. They charged my credit card twice and its now been nearly 3 weeks and still no refund!
-modern comfortable clean rooms -great food of different varieties -top quality alcohol drinks -professional staff in the restaurants -cozy palapas -the place overall very nice and well maintained
-service of our butler and Royal Service not worth it due to human factor -check in at the hotel time-consuming even though there were no other guests at the reception, staff not helpful - we asked for the coffee cups for 3 days - Royal Service Facility entry with suitcases only by golfcarts - we booked the price through booking.com in EUR however when we paid the invoice when checking out hotel used different exchange rate and we ended up paying out almost 10% more - due booking the stay over booking.com we were not eligible for complimentary coupons (spa, restaurant, wine discounts) - in hotel travel agency representative always busy, we had to wait for her price estimates 3-4 hours couple of times -ROCKS in the water/difficult to get into water
