Situated on the beach, with spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, and a short walk from the famous 5th avenue promenade, this Playa del Carmen Hotel offers enjoyable amenities.
Score from 143 reviews Very good
Right on the beach and 5th avenue, good breakfast.
Bathroom not good conditions, no tv.
Friendly staff (was not their mistake)
- No telephone in the room - No hot water (you must go to lobby - again no telephone in the room - and say to switch on hot water). I guess this is to save costs so they leave the water heater off until someone complains - No TV but a small 14 inch pc monitor (has been a long time seeing such a small screen) - Water flood 2nd day (water came up to bedroom and many cloths all wet) - 3rd day no water for 8 hours - Manager seems not interested in complains (there were many complains about the missing water) - the pictures on Booking.com are possible from a certain angle BUT do not reflect the real room quality. The beach is dirty and with stones. The rooms are poor and overpriced. The worst experience and I can only hope that nobody else will book there so the management will think twice to improve the quality.
Close to everything. Beach, restaurants, shops. They arranged perfect whale shark adventure. I'm a veteran traveler and I love going to Playa. This was a small relaxing inn. Perfect
The bathroom window was missing joulleses so light from hall shown in room and noise from inside going out and outside could be heard. Room was at end so it wasn't too bad. I taped paper up to block light.
Gracious staff, beautiful garden, price for the location
Too many steps to 3rd floor!
the location, nice, clean and large rooms, very nice food in theresturant
there is difernce between ocwan view rooms and front view rooms!!!!
The location was awesome!
There's nothing I didn't like
It's on the beach. In that way, it's a great location.
There was very loud bad music played live by a band nearby until very late that night (Saturday). In that way, it was a bad location.
The location is perfect.
The breakfast could be more variety.
Fish tacos w/ a Carona beer for lunch here on the beach was really nice…It is very touristic, but the shopping and restaurants are incredible in Playa del Carmen!
Overall, I was highly disappointed…with the misleading comments of others on your site and as well, the hotel photos.-It appeared to be a truly beautiful, rustic posada online, but in truth, was a somewhat run-down, over-priced, typical hotel. I checked around, once there and my room already paid for(w/ no chance of escape), and there were places much cheaper that had breakfast included, w/ tv-wifi, far cleaner and on the real beach! By the way, this part of Playa del Carmen has almost no beach….just a rocky shore. I couldn't even open the lock on my door as I was leaving….I came in w/ an open mind, all be it, hopes high, looking for a future honeymoon place with my fiancé, but learned my lesson. I won't rely only on the online reviews, but visit firsthand and talk w/ the people.(I am an American teacher who speaks Spanish fluently.) I know this is a needed source for many foreigners far away, but not for me.
Location and price
Staff was pleasant and helpful and the location was great. The beach is steps away and the restaurant bar serves tasty cold drinks. The grounds were well manicured. Am I complaining, nope. It was cheap and the wifi worked well. I wouldn't stay here for any long period of time, but a night is doable.
But the rooms are horrendous at best. The beds are essentially a piece of foam that should have been burned a decade ago. The bathroom is where souls go to die. The refrigerator smells like mold. Nothing appeared to have been maintained in the rooms.
Our air conditioner broke down while we stepped out of the room for a couple of hours. We returned to a flooded room. We were given some towels to clean up but were told the maintenance people had already finished for the day and it wouldn't be fixed until the next day. We were given a small air con unit for the night, but it was not very effective. We requested a room change the next day and were told that we would be placed in a garden view room, but would not be refunded the difference in room rate (around 50 usd). Eventually they discovered they had an ocean view room we could change to, but it didnt have a tv (not really an issue for us) so we changed rooms. Wifi reception is quite bad regardless of where your room is.
Great location, just in front of the beach.
No parking and public parkings are far and expensive.
i enjoy the beach front and it is located downtown of the shopping center.
hotel is situated directly on the beach with free deckchairs and umbrella, free beach towels, wifi on the beach. Room was very big, clean, we had to wait 10 minutes for hot water. Staff is great, friendly and helpful. Few steps to 5th Avenue.
rocks on the beach, price
the view the location the friendly employes
Wonderful hotel. Simple but met all needs. Very picturesque. Loved the meals on the beach. Staff (Roberto) and others were very helpful. The garlic red snapper was to die for! I would go back again just to have this dish. We had a massage in the open air spa with the wind blowing...Paradise at it's finest!
We didn't get to stay long enough! 8>(
The location in proximity to the beach. The staff was friendly.
The room was small, smelled bad, toilet didn't work well, and, frankly we did not feel safe or secure at the Inn. I will not be returning to that facility again in the future.
Location on beach within walking distance to everything
Their restaurant, the horrible hard chairs outside on the patio, the beds
We loved the location. The entire staff was outstanding!!! Roberto, our primary waiter, could not have been more helpful. The food, drinks and service were grand. Our set up on the beach was as good as any we have enjoyed in the past.
We did not like the lack of hot water. That was a constant. The walls and floors are not too thick, so sound did travel. The place could be helped with a bit of a face lift.
Double bed was too small for 2 prs
Good water pressure in bathroom shower
Poorly maintained property. Was not as advertised . Run down . No bar and resturant as advertised
Close to street with Shops and lots of Restaurants. Right at the Beach. You get for what you pay.
Loved the location, the hotel atmosphere was very cute and the restaurant was very good.
Beds were very hard, and it was rainy, so kind of a bummer not to have a tv or music option in the room
