Score from 624 reviews Wonderful
There are plenty of Playa del Carmen hotels but few offer you a home away from home option right on the Caribbean beach and steps from world class shopping.
Score from 134 reviews Very good

Score from 105 reviews Excellent
The rooms were clean rooms, comfortable, affordable. The staff were friendly.
It was a little noisy with construction going on but it was tolerable.
Good location and definitely a good hotel for youngsters who want to crash during the day and party during the night in the clubs at Playa.
Smelly rooms which were not very clean. The shower door was broken and wouldn't open fully, forcing us to get in between the washtable and the door to get into the shower. Lucky us, skinny Europeans. No American would ever be able to do that. The vault was broken too. They are (re)constructing an additional part of the hotel. Works start at 10a in theory. 8A in practice. There goes your sleep. Wifi seemed to be in (re)construction too.
- 5-7 minutes walk to beach, 5th Ave, Walmart, good El Fogon local restaurant.
- There are 4 floors, but doesn't have any elevators. - They are inovating the hotel, so it's very noisy from 10am to 5pm, maybe it will continue in next 3-6 months. If you go out all day, it's okay. - They have kitchen but the kitchenette takes time to cook, and have few tools in the kitchen.
The breakfast and the room
Intermittent wifi connection Staff flexibility - couldn't take coffee cup to room. Kitchen guy didn't want to serve me breakfast until I brought the cup! Lol! Staff need customer services attitude
Location and the swimming pool
1. Not being informed that noisy works are undertaken in the hotel. 2. Cleaning starting very early and was particularly noisy. 3. Bad internet connection
-A little further away from the crowd but its all walking distance. -very nice customer service -Room is very big and spacious with kitchen.
-No escalator or lift for a 3 storey building -hotel is not as big and grand shown on the pictures - construction was going on all day. very noisy -wifi connection is very bad.
Location and room size.
The TV had unsolved problems during the week we were there. Several repairs are being made. The breakfast room was really little. They only receive in Pesos with a bad exchange rate. The flow of water vary with use of toilets.
Decent location for the price.
Construction woke us early every morning. There was not mention of this when we booked and no offer of a discount or anything else for the inconvenience. The construction also apparently damaged a cable so there were no TV channels. Very frustrating experience.
The breakfast was excellent and the service for breakfast was excellent Housekeeping service is very very good
I was put on the top floor three floors above the lobby it was a very long walk on tile steps I am a senior citizen I went there to celebrate my 70th birthday and the walk was exhausting each day
They had full staffing and cleaning was done reasonably. When shower was working, full hot water was possible. Problems were eventually fixed... but after 2 days. I never complained but the cleaning people figured out the problem. If location is important, this was an easy location to find and start.
Had a modern LCD television w/ snowy picture! Was put in an upper room that was new. Fixtures were old. Plumbing was not ready thus no water pressure and no hot water. Leaking shower was never repaired. I never mentioned it to the management tho as i was not staying long.
the place was clean and quite.
Every time, i called for towels, i was told they didn't have any.
I stayed here several times. Some of the rooms are quite nice for the money (others were older, damper and generally below par - if you don't like your room and the hotel is not packed, ask for a change)
Breakfast - even though it was included, it was so bad (I'm not complaining about it being basic, mind you, but it about being terrible) that after a couple of days I decided to skipp it and had breakfast elsewhere.
The hotel so bad with poor service
The arrogant/unhelpful attitude (lack of customer service) specifically of two of their front-line staff in their restaurant & reception.
Nice weather. Not far away from the bus station.
Cucarachas (3) Hard Bed Not equiped to cook Air conditioner and fridge noisy Two beds together Switch lights out of reach from the bed. Shower always spills water Hot water broken Old furniture Small swimming pool 4 Places only to lay down. Rationed breakfast. Always the same. Not efficient when asking them to do some work. Not well isolated. Could hear the neighbour snoring Being woken up every morning. Didn't change the sheets in all week. Window in the brathroom would not close. The nets int he windows had spaces around the frame so useless. No parking. Its in the street.
being on the 4th floor with no elevator
break fast was o.k
the room and bads
Staff very friendly
There is no parking place available as promised! This was the only reason we choose this hotel, it caused us a hassle and additional 500 Pesos to pay the parking place 1 km away. We booked (and payed)a 3 beds room, we received a 2 beds, and after two days we have been transferred, to an even smaller room due to "technical problems". Be prepared to frequent running out of water. No english, so if you have some problem it is practically imposible to solve.
Big room, well appointed, clean, and comfortable. Location, value.
Breakfast set up needs to be simplified and improved. It is a bit convoluted, and not user friendly. I had dive training at 8AM, breakfast would open at 7:30 AM giving me only about 10 min. to woof down coffee and eggs. I would show up at 7:20, ask the front desk for a voucher and be turned away with them telling me not until 7:30. So I have to wait and at 7:30 others show up, I have to wait in line for my voucher and don't have time to even get coffee. This needs to be changed, why not just give me the voucher and I can wait until 7:30 when the cafe opens?
The location was excellent - close to the beach, shopping, municipal palace and bus stations. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. Our housekeeper was excellent. The beds were very comfortable.
We were very disappointed with the excessive noise from the other guests. While we were there for a month a large group of young students from Denmark were there studying with the Sprachcafe. They did not have any direct supervision and as a result the noise was unbearable at times and the staff seemed to be unable to control the partying. We spoke with the teachers/organizers and they told us that they talked to the students but it did not help as that evening was once again very loud along with the rest of our stay. Earplugs were necessary almost every night. The design of the building does not lend itself well to loud noises but having staff that will enforce the posted rules would have helped a lot. Only two desk clerks had any command of the english language which caused concerns at night time.
Breakfast was included
The location is off the main drag (5th) yet still close to the beach. The rooms are kept very clean and the stove and refrigerator were very welcome.
The beds are awful and hard as a rock. I was there 10 nights and had a back and neck ache the entire time due to the bed. Also, the included breakfast could use a bit more variety.
AIRCONDITION DID NOT WORK. SO IT GOT PRETTY HOT. SIMPLE BREAKFAST.
Most of the staff were wonderful and helpful
The evening we arrived the clerk demanded cash of at least 1/2 the stay since the credit card machine was down - this was not appropriate - Also only 1 chair in the room and when we asked for a second we were not accommodating
