This hotel is built around the former governor's mansion built in the late 1600's. El Fuerte was the center of the revolution of the early 1800's when the people of Mexico took back their country from a dictator. The hotel has antiques galore, and a courtyard like you've never seen. This sprawling property has gardens everywhere. It is right off the main square and two blocks from the river and main fort. Unbelievable hotel and location. Price was great!

We went there as the base for our trip to Copper Canyon on the train. The hotel we stayed at was in the historic section which has a number of former mansions converted into hotels. We found it an easy place to get around and make the connections both for the train ride and getting to Los Mochis for the airport. The local museum is small but interesting and a performance of local traditional dancing while we there. The walk by the river was interesting and the plaza by the City Hall was great place to hang out and people watch. Food was good and close.

Very pleasant place to start rail trip through the Copper Canyon. Good food in restaurants and street vendors. Wonderful central plaza and historic buildings. Museum was small but interesting. Great promenade along the river. Getting around is easy walking or taking cabs. Many hotels in former large homes. Quite enjoyable in its own right.

very cute town, I wasnt expecting much and I was nicely surprised, people is very helpful and open to speak to you. easy to walk around, I feel safe all the time.
my host recomend some fish dish called: callos de lobina, at a Bar Capri, and they were amazing!! the best food i have on my whole trip
This historic hacienda has been added on and turned into lovely place to stay. The decor is colorful, quirky, and truly charming. There are lots of antiques, and wall and cabinets filled with fascinating things. The multiple courtyards give it lots of light and make it a cozy place to stay. It’s two blocks from the plaza and next door to the museum. The front is unremarkable but through the iron gate is a great experience for modestly a priced hotel. Love my afternoon and evening in El Fuerte!
Road was all dug up out front. Omar the owner was great. We said the construction situation was unacceptable, as we needed secure parking and couldn't enter the property. He gave us cash back to cover the amount he was receiving. We ended up driving to Los Mochis and found a hotel to stay in there. The midges, no- see-ums were terrible in El Fuerte. Never had so many bites. Not on the top of my list of Pueblos Magicos. I have visited 36 out of 134 of them.

Omar knows everything. I ask a lot of questions, and he answered every one. He even gave me a ride to the El Chepe train station when the taxi didn't come. He is nothing short of amazing! I will definitely be back - not sure when, but there are hot springs not too far away that I must visit, and the town of El Fuerte is really awesome.
Very nice location, about a 5 minute walk to the main square. The local bus to Los mochis stops around the corner (from there you can take a taxi to the airport). The room was very big. Nice shower. The hotel itself was beautiful. We didn't use the pool but it looked clean and was quit big. Would stay here again!
Beautiful discovery arriving at this hotel! The room was very pretty, cozy, well decorated and clean. one of the nicest room we’ve had during our trip. The owners were very sweet and friendly. They offered to drive us to the train station, for a small fee, allowing us to avoid more expensive taxi.
The staff of the hotel always aims to please. They really do go above and beyond. The hotel is a converted estate/family residence of a prominent family in El Fuerte from years gone by and retains much of that aura. Easy walking distance from the town center and the El Fuerte museum.
Just about everything. The hotel oozes history with hidden courtyards and crammed full of curiosities. Don't forget the town museum and also the Malecon along side the river. Nobody mentions that.
This is an amazing place. The hotel itself is simply stunning. The owner/manager went far above and beyond to help me and spoke excellent English. Such a lovely lady. Thank you Raquel. 😊
Lovely hacienda hotel, 1 block away from the main square. The hotel staff was very professional and helpful. The room was huge and comfortable. The photos of the place are reliable.
very polite person checking us in caught an error in price and fixed it for us. The hotel is across from the plaza; museum, restaurants, river close by, very old hotel but charming
Staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is beautiful and perfectly located. If I return to El Fuerte I will stay here again, and I will tell my friends about it and recommend it.
