Super large pool. Largest we have ever seen. Pool area at Spring break not crowed at all. However, on the off periods it could feel a bit lonely I am sure…. Also loved the size and layout of the unit.. It was 2 bed and 3 full bath. Had large full size and stocked kitchen and furniture was clean and in great shape? Nothing felt cheap or rental quality.. It had a utility room with Washer Dryer that was very large. Almost another bedroom size. It was great for throwing the dive gear and other stuff we didn’t want cluttering the main living areas.. The complex is a condo complex and not a traditional hotel.. We understood that going in and liked that but others may be looking for more services… The overall grounds of Mareazul and the master community of Grand Coral is super nice… Mareazul is just one development in a larger master planned development which had I think 4 other very nice developments plus a golf course. I think 2 were timeshares and others were upscale hotels…Once you leave the Mareazul complex, since this is a master planned area there were a lot of green space and a main jogging trail going around development all very safe and clean…. However, once you leave the master planned development you are in a traditional Mexican neighborhood. Some commented it was the Ghetto, I disagree however. It wasn’t the nicest looking area but it wasn’t the slum of TJ either.. It is a little bit far from town to walk to main activities.. You could do it but it is a bit far. However, taxi or rental car super quick. It might be a mile from complex to center of PDC activities.. During our stay the pool bar was open. It was fine for being at basically a condo complex.. Some reviews said it was never opened but it seemed to be open from 11 to 6 PM while we were there. We never ate there but saw food from others that looks decent.. There is also a Beach Club on the beach. It isn’t part of Mareazul but rather usable by anyone staying at any facility in the Grandcoral..
Store was expensive and really had nothing useful.. I might be concerned it could be too quite if we went there on an off period. Beach was full of seaweed during our stay. That could be seasonal however… They probably should invest in a tractor to haul away each day… Taxis are not as readily available as with other places. We found ourselves driving our car to the development next to Mareazul to catch taxis early in AM.. However, I think during later times 9AM to dark you could probably hail a taxi pretty easily… We just didn’t have luxury of chancing that since we had ferry’s to catch… Getting 2 sets of keys was a bit of a complex issue. Took a day to get it done plus they gave me a bit of attitude for asking for second set of keys.. Check in time is 3PM no excuses. I found that a little concerning. We got there at 1PM and he didn’t even know who I was yet and he told me we cannot check in until 3PM… Could there be a possibility the unit was clean and ready long before that.. Yes but he didn’t even check… He just said come back at 3PM…All in all however the staff was pleasant…
Everything was perfect! Extremely attentive to our needs and requests! The staff was on top of everything! Maid service excellent! Maintenance excellent! New manager... Carlos? is awesome! Very friendly was extremely accommodating and very professional! Staff was lovely! Rooms are great! Just need wi-Fi :-)
I live in Mexico! Internet and wifi is cheap! Owners/hotel should have this feature in every room! It is a must! It is 2015! Everyone offers it! It is not always convenient to walk to wifi zones or at night ? Just to send or receive a text /email from work or a loved one and while on vacation! These are high priced units and should have individual Wi-Fi!
The grounds and property were clean, condo accommodations were clean'ish. The staff was nice and pleasant. This would be a great location to have a large party or bring lots of people with you. When we went, there was literally only 10-20 other people on property during the day.
You'll need to plan to bring food with you, or travel offsite for meals. During our stay, there was no food available after 6pm. This isn't a "hotel", with room service or even a full blown restaurant. Nothing is walking distance. Food at a normal dining hour requires a 15min drive through the ghetto, and a Mexican Police checkpoint. Also, the Wifi they provide is only in two locations on property, which unfortunately were no where near our condo. Our power went out for about 8hrs the second day there, so we could even shower (apparently water pressure is dependent on power in Mexico.) The beds were hard as rocks. There were nats/spiders in and around the condo. But for Mexico on the water, I guess this is what you have to deal with.
Rooms were noce
No bar no restaurants.no hot tubs. ran out of hot water all the time.far walk to the beach and not enough chairs on the beach
Amazing condo grounds. Exactly like you see in the pictures. outdoor hot tub on the balcony was amazing. The apartment overlooks the pool/garden and beach, was just stunning. Daily maid service was great! Overall an unbelievable place for the price.
Wifi is lacking, but around the pool area and the check in area it's fine. You're on vacation, it's not necessary. Washer and dryer needed some instruction manual-- was definitely not intuitive. Pillows were a bit lumpy.
Simply gorgeous apartments Peaceful and clean and super large
No Wifi, far away from the city
No regrets (apart from not staying long enough)
The residence was amazing and the infrastucture too.
There was mold on the ceiling. The customer orientation is not the highest.
Property was amazing- pool and the Garden were beautiful. The people (all of them) were polite and helpful.
House keeping was over worked and could not keep up... Twice in 1 week our room wasn't made up after 6:00 pm. Twice I needed to go and request towels (bathroom) and twice we never got clean beach towels.
ants in the room dry damp and wet sheets and all of her clothes smelled musty because the room air conditioning didn't work properly the TV didn't work properly the pools were so cold you could even use them the restaurants didn't even carry quacamole for four solid days. the worst vacation ever we try to talk to the staff with no resolution even the manager made us pay for the day we didn't even stay we checked out and went to another property horrible horrible experience
Great resort. Beautiful pool area and a great beach. Gym is good. The appartments are very modern and spaceious. Well equipped kitchen with coffeemaschine and toaster. This is not a hotel. Condo rental. Friendly staff at the reception. We go there again.
Only 3-4 umbrellas at the beach. No WiFi in the room. A bit remote. You need a car to get to buy groceries. The shop on site is useless. No fresh food such as milk, fruits or bread. Need to bring some basics for your first day.
The condo was huge, great air conditioning, beautifully done. Balcony large with a jet tub, dining table and hammock. Very nice linens and cookware. More of a hotel feel than an occupied vacation rental so don't expect the little things you might such as books and salt and pepper. Very quiet although if the place was busier you would notice your neighbors as in any concrete building there is nothing to absorb noise. Pools were large and gorgeous and usually empty. No music or ' activities' which we prefer. Beach was great for swimming and clean. Grounds were awesome & well kept. Staff responsive to our needs once they saw us a few times.
It was a long walk to the beach as we were placed back a ways and I think we should have been closer as the place was empty but not enough staff at check in so we went easy on the guy. Should not have. 10 days in a location we weren't thrill about. It was off season yet we were given the 2nd floor after requesting a higher one ( only 4 floors). We could see a sliver of ocean but not hear it. A family was above us and we heard the chairs scraping the floor a lot - as we were trying to go to bed. Next to no tv unless you paid for English channels. You need a car to stay here. They only had 3 umbrellas on beach but several chaise lounges. Lack of any shade was an issue.
super private pool at the condo, not very deep so great for our kids that could walk around in the water. The condo is extremely large and perfectly equipped. Super large and complete kitchen The grounds are very nice, private and the central pool in the complex is the largest I have ever seen with islands, bridges etc.
No restaurants or food on site. Just some snacks by the pool. They should just leave some home delivery folders menus and flyers so we can order food and have it delivered. We have 3 kids below 4yo which is a serious adventure to go eat out all the time.
Excellent facilities and helping staff
very far from the down town area. Near by shops are at-least 15 min drive, so should have a car.
close to 5th avenue attractions and Tulum. Two bedroom two bath unit available.
Cold pool temp. Limited restaurant options. Small beach area.
condo unit beach pool clubhouse and food friendly and helpful staff location
unit smelled musty need a few new beach umbrellas we had washcloths and beach towels the first day and then had to ask for them
I like how secluded it felt, being away from the city center.
Facilities and the adjacent beach were beautiful, very peaceful and well maintained. Several reviews complained that it was difficult to reach reception or to hail a cab - not true in my experience. We were issued a mobile phone upon arrival to contact reception. Cabs can easily be called by walking to the guard shack just outside of the reception area and requesting that they call for you. There is a cab site just down the street, and I never waited more than 5 minutes for a cab to arrive. Going rate was $140 pesos (Oct. 2014). Wifi in the reception and snack bar areas worked just fine.
Can't think of anything - staff was friendly, helpful. Location is beautiful, well maintained. Getting the washing machine/dryer in the room to work was a bit tricky. Dryer didn't seem to work well in our unit.
I like the style, minimalist and the space of the apartment, the installations are modern and clean, beautiful place, the beach is convenient and the pool is wide and nice.
Lack of restaurants choice, inside of the compound, staff not friendly enough just limiting to the basic attentions, the intercom didn't work to open the door of the building, the pool had some barriers that I feel that are not safe cause you don't see them or when you get to the edges there's some steps hardy to see, the location of the compound is not visible, I had to do a lot of searching in the area to find the mareazul better know as gran coral, by the locals, it's imperative to add more signs in the different entries and improve the existing ones
The condo is spectacular, very luxurious and perfect for families. You can cook some meals and maids come in afterwards to wash the dishes.
You can only get Wi-Fi in the reception and restaurant, otherwise you are out of luck. There are no land lines in the rooms so unless you have roaming service you are completely out touch in the room.
The place is quiet and beautiful !
Not a good place if your looking for service ! It's a condo not a hotel so limited on services ! And need more wifi
Beautifully decorated condos. Beautiful pools, and great food.
Some of the young kids there (ages 11-14) were running wild. Parents were either in condos or at the beach, paying no attention. Kids were running around in packs, swearing and acting foolish both during the day and late at night. There are several things that would make this place a "10." Right now, it's a "7." First, supply soap, shampoo & conditioner. WiFi should be available in the units, not just at the pool or lobby, and more stations to view on the T.V., or at least have dvd players and dvd rentals available since it is a quiet place. Include menus of places that will deliver food in the information books. Run the fountains! They would be beautiful to see! Consider another restaurant that would serve in the evening. The first 2-3 suggestions are the most important to change this to a solid 4 star, and maybe a 4 1/2 star hotel. It's beautiful! Just needs some final touches.
I like the place is like being on a private beach, the departments are awesome, and the breakfast is good, the price that you pay is fair.
A little bit far from Playa del Carmen so if you dont bring a car this might be a problem from you, the day that we arrived at night was no light at the whole complex of buildings so it was a little bit scary.
gorgeous beach. peace and quite. close to Playa Del Carmen when you wanted a change of pace.
not really a hotel. checking in and out did not go smoothly
No wifi in the room
