good value for money: central location, clean, convenient, cheap meals in the restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff, nicely folded towels on the bed :-) the hotel is functional but doesn't have any charm, the AC is quite loud

Hotel Real Azteca is practically next door to the ADO second class bus station, across the road from a taxi rank and a block away from a taco corner, so the location is great. The lady who checked us in was super helpful and there were towel-swans, chocolate and free water in our room. The bed in our room was gigantic but unfortunately had a plastic underlay which was a bit sweaty/uncomfortable. Having a fan and air-con was necessary in our room as the windows didn't open. The air-con was pretty noisy.

The owner, Bertha, was very friendly and spoke excellent English. She fronted the money for my taxi when I arrived because I didn't have enough pesos. Restaurants and shops are near the hotel and the coast is a 30-minute walk away. Taxi ride from main bus station costs 30 pesos. Two Snicker bars and two free bottles of water awaits us in the room! Light outside our window kept room lit at night. Shower head a little rough. Staff, other than owner, did not speak English. Rooms were poorly lit.

The view from the common balcony overlooking the markets was lovely, watching the hustle and bustle below. The location was excellent for Chetumal's attractions. If you get room #29, ask for a change. We were satisfied with our room until we turned the light out to go to sleep, when we discovered in a blaze of light from the external hallway that the flimsy curtains gave no shield whatsoever. We ended up hanging a blanket over the window. Also, the restaurant was not open as advertised on booking.com, nor was there a tour desk, and the single staff member we saw did not speak english. There is parking onsite however it is limited and if the hotel was busy you may be parked in.

The location was great, reasonably priced, convenient off street parking, the breakfast was fantastic, friendly and hospitable staff, hands- on owners always at your service. The mattress was a little too firm for our taste.

The room was very clean. The staff were excelent. The owner came over and spent a lot of tme with us personally. She spoke English very well. She is v ery proud to be an AZmerican citizen as well as Mexican. She considered us family. Got us a cab and negotiated price. She told the cab driver we were family. Definitely going back.

This little hotel felt really cozy. Its location is excellent; 1 block from Mayan museum, less than a block from the Market and there's a convenience store right next to it. The room was very clean, rather basic but with a good size, a/c was working perfectly and wifi signal (at least in room 28 and 23) was outstanding. The staff went out of their way to accomodate our need (see next section) and did so in a very friendly and expedite way. The only issue we had is that a person next to our room was smoking with the door open and the smoke was getting into our room.Of course this was not acceptable especially because of my 6-month and 7-year-old being with me in the room. Like I mentioned I went to the front desk and in less than 5 minutes they had already given me a next room. Honestly I was surprised. I guess I did not expect to get such a good service. So, if I had to make a suggestion to the hotel manager I would say to keep the non-smoking rooms separate so no one else would have an issue like this

No habia vista desde las ventanas: aunque luz entraba, estaban permanente cerradas y no se podia ver nada de lo que habia afuera ni dejar entrar aire en el cuarto. Ademas daba algo de una impresion de claustrofobia.
