This Mayan Riviera hotel is located in Playa del Carmen, only 15 minutes from the Xcaret archaeological site. The hotel offers easy access to local beaches.
Score from 252 reviews Very good
The hotel is very well situated next to restaurants, fancy bars and shops, right in the center of Playa del Carmen. The beach is only at 5-minute walk. Rooms are super clean and comfortable. Staff is very friendly. You totally need to visit this hotel for the incredible design and roof-top bar!
Don't expect a big swimming pool, it is not deep!
Look of the hotel
Wifi didn't work in the room, apparently because of hotel reconstruction
Location, nice roof patio if you like 30 cm deep swimmingpools ;-)
If you pay such money you would expect from a 4 star hotel at least such service like extra glass of juice to your breakfast! Forget it! You have to pay for any extras. Breakfast is poor, be preapared that you will only get a main meal, 1 glass of juice, 1 portion of fruits, only coffee is unlimited. They ask you to wear handbracelets and ask you to sign off every breakfast. I hated the advert on the hotel's wall saying "Sleep with me". I had an impression that something strange was going on there. One day we saw a number of young girls waiting in the lounge, dressed like...you dont't want to know who! I thing this hotel is overrated and overadvertized. It was noisy from the corridor. Wifi doesn't work in rooms. It also not too good if you stay connected downstairs. Staff didn't speak English well enought. Red lights everywhere...yes it was a bad choice. I would rather recommend to spend money on some nice, cosy hotel on the beach rather than this "red lattern" place!
not well in chape, the wifi is so pour that is better to use your own.
The atmosphere of the place was very unique. I love the location and the experience overall
The wifi connection was slow and the bar was restricted hours
-location -adult theme -rooftop
-poor wifi -lack of variety at breakfast (high cholesterol) -they have setup for rooftop activity in the nights, but we had to go out instead -expensive for what you get in return
Cool hotel, great location! Great design.
Hard bed, no wifi in the room, pool could be cleaner
Location of the hotel The original look of the hotel The swimming pool The bedrooms Everything was just amazing
interesting architecture and decor, center of town location right off 5th ave, very reasonable price for what you get, nice breakfast, not noisy
beds are not comfortable, staff although reasonably friendly is not professional both in attitude and efficiency, feels like there is no hotel manager leading
liked the Ambiance and location
WiFi was not available in the room, and only erratically available in the lobby
Convenient location, spacious rooms, great breakfast
It's a bit pricy
Location, staff, avant-garde decor
Internet is weak
Room, location and comfortable bed
Staff at check in was not very hospitable but rest of staff were friendly and helpful.
Cleaning and reception staff corteous and efficient
I was allowed an early check in but when I got back with the money I was told it was not available. The manager DID NOT LOOK AT ME, limiting herself to dictate to the reception attendant what he should say to me. It was an unforgivable demonstration of utmost arrogance. Besides, when I was finally allowed to get my room it was not even cleaned! Then, when we gave back our beach towels the guy at the entrance started to look for dirt spots on the towels ("it must be oil", "I think it's dirt", "I'm.not convinced it's not oil") - just to tell us later that we should not worry at all. So, why in Hell did he bother us in first place? The hotel gave us a bottle of champagne as a token of courtesy after the check in incident, but we gave it back during check out - if they thought we were so cheap they could buy our forgiveness after arrogant, outrageous treatment, they were just plain wrong. There are dozens of better value options around and Mexican hospitality is not to be found at this pretentious, off its prime and snobbish place. Stay elsewhere.
Red light in the room Rooftop pool & terrace Parking avible
Front desk service was always very good. Breakfast was not bad at all. Give you towels for the beach, which is nice. Good location.
Music in the halls was loud at times, though it was turned down per request. No direct access to the beach was a small downer. Air conditioner was not working properly (and they couldnt fix it) in one of our two rooms.
A great location close to Quinta Avenue and Mamita's Beach. The hotel was very quiet while we were there (over Xmas week) so not quite the party hotel it tries to advertise itself as. I liked the quirky décor and the room was very comfortable. I also enjoyed the food and relaxing on the peaceful rooftop. It was good that they provided towels for the beach.
The walls between the rooms seemed a little thin as we were woken early a couple of times by next door's vibrating mobile. The pool on the rooftop is only knee-deep.
Unique hotel (in a good way), comfortable, great location, breakfast included, nice towels
They make you wear wristbands the entire duration of your stay (for security); poor WiFi
On the plus side, the hotel is well located near the 5th Avenue and the beach.
It is entirely mystifying how this hotel got a high review rating and why it is a 4 star. In truth, it is awful, horrible, nasty. From the street, it looks like a cool place. Then, you spot the huge advertising board on the side that says: “Come Sleep with Me”. Excuse me? Things get worse as you step inside. Dead plants suspended from the ceiling. The whole building is dirty, grimy, and smelly. Bright, nauseating red lights everywhere: in the lobby, on the stairs, in the corridors, on the roof, on the balcony. Inescapable. Dirty mannequins in glass cages. Yes, indeed. I suppose there is a kind of brothel theme, but it is very old, tired, and exaggerated. Hotel staff are cold, hostile, and unhelpful. We were neither greeted nor did they say goodbye. They spend a lot of time typing on a computer and talking on the phone. Maintenance staff were clueless. Breakfast staff ignored us and, even though it was included, we never got any breakfast over two days. The pictures speak of a fabulous rooftop pool. It isn’t. It is a lounge pool 30cm deep and totally useless. The other “pool” is an indoor 60cm deep, 4x4 metre affair right in front of the reception desk. Baffling and false advertising. There is no relief in the bedroom. Walls are black, curtains are red: the official colour scheme. The bed was uncomfortable and squeaky – I think the mattress was covered in plastic – and I am not sure how a 4 star hotel justifies polyester linen. Unacceptable! The minibar was locked and contained a can of coke. The room-safe is small and portable: just pick up and walk out. The room-balcony had a grill instead of a floor, so if you drop something, it falls through; you will be basking in a bright red light; and a rat ran across it on its way somewhere (else). The shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor, hot water was unsteady, and the “organic” toiletries smelled really bad. The in-room wifi signal was low to non-existent.
Interior design was excellent, staff helped us sort out our tour when it was 40 minutes late, free breakfast was delicious and cooked to order, located in the heart of playa del Carmen right next to the beach/shopping strip and ferry to Cozumel. Staff let us park in their garage overnight after we checked out. Room design is fantastic. Rooftop pool parties most days of the week.
Some of the American channeks did not come through on the tv.
no wifi, when it was promised.
Large rooms, quirky design, central location. Good value , Inclusive breakfast.
Great interior design, very clean hotel, really enjoyed the pool on the roof top with the cabanas. Ordered drinks and stayed by the pool when we didn't feel like going to the Beach. Location is unbeatable - in the centre if it all!
Breakfast was the same during the two weeks, more fruit would have been awesome. Wifi wasn't good in the room, but very fast on the roof top and in the lobby - we were able to even watch Internet TV by the pool!
The architecture. Amazing place.
The hotel staff its not friendly. We had a few problems (the room was smelling cigarrets) and the staff wasn't supportive enough. We had to raise our voice to get things straight. Besides, there's music on the corridor into 2am. We asked to turn it off but they've said the hotel wants to pass this feeling of "partying" and nothing could be done about it. (Guys your architecture/decoration gives us this idea. Let the guests sleep in peace) Breakfast too late. 8am. It could be earlier.
