In the pristine beaches of Tulum, surrounded by tropical gardens and the seafront, Playa Mambo Eco Cabanas features an on-site restaurant that specializes in contemporary cuisine.
Score from 23 reviews Wonderful
Lovely comfortable rooms right on the beach. Relaxing peaceful and convenient
Wi-fi a bit weak in rooms, a bit understaffed in the restaurant at breakfast
location, staff, food
facilities are run down, seafront units are badly designed
Loved our stay at the hotel. Great spot in Tulum
Lovely place and staff
Slow wifi and way to far from any restaurant the only opcion is the hotels restaurant
Big comfortable private cabanas. Awesome Beach and palmtrees. Great Cocktails.
Cold shower. Expensive hotel/Service.
The staff were wonderful. We especially appreciated that the hotel closed the restaurant on Dec 23 for the evening to hold a party for the staff and their families. Very sweet...
There was no light over the bed so I couldn't read at night. Until they add lights, guests would bring a head lamp!
The room was constantly damp and there was even mould growing on the bathroom door. Staff were pleasant but there was no atmosphere and service was added to everything which should be optional when grabbing a quick coffee. The food was poor, it looked good but tasted very mediocre. On the whole quite disappointing and would not go back.
We likes the simple, clean and elegant room decoration and the large and functional bathroom. Very comfortable bed. We had a nice cabin with balcony and sea view. Nice beach with very good sun beds.
Little bit far away from restaurants an shops (Rosa is the last resort on the 10 km beach road). Need to take taxi (walking or biking also possible but risky on the narrow, very busy road). Restaurant staff slow and make misstakes, limited choice of breakfast.
Very nice, accomodating staff.
No TV's or phones in the room... which was actually fine!
Laid back atmosphere, great service, beautiful beach location, owner's attention to guest enjoyment. Off the grid- be prepared to leave city life and tv, telephone, hustle and bustle, etc behind- A true and refreshing return to nature.
Nothing- had a great experience.
Overall the hotel is really good. Beautiful setting, big comfy rooms and the beach is stunning. The staff are friendly and helpful although over stretched it seemed. We had an older room and it was absolutely fine. Had a great overall experience.
You need to understand that Tulum is split in two, the town and the beach. The beach road with all hotels is 10km in length and the hotel is at the end of the 10km. This means unless you have a bike or scooter you need to take a cab everywhere almost (150 pesos to town / 50 to casa jaguar for example). Also staff always seemed super stretched, we often waited for 45mins for breakfast (even coffee one morning!) and on the beach it was hard to find waiters. Wifi was weak but did stretch (just) to our room, but the idea is to get away from it all!
The beach, the restaurant, the staff and the service.
It is at the end of a long single lane street of hotels and going anywhere by car meant a drive through various traffic snarls.
I love the location, we have been before in Tulum and the ocean in this area is the best. The staff is really nice. Breadfast is good.
I did not like the noise. They were working to expand the hotel and we have to deal with it, that was not nice.
The location and staff are just great. It is the most beautiful hotel in Tulum for value for money and amenities.
After driving past pretentious vegan, eco-spas, we arrived at this quiet gem at the end of the road. It sits just meters north of the Sian Ka'an Reserve, so it is as far south as you can go on the beach from Cancun to Tulum.
The crowded one-lane road from Tulum past all the other beach locations.
Location is great. Nice beaches, nice and clean rooms. Good food. VERY RELAXING!
10 kilometers road from Tulum is very slow. Very poor cell phone reception
Everything.. The staff.. The food.. The location... The room was lovel.. .. hotel right on the beach.... just loved everythibg
The beach was amazing. The people were beautiful. It was completely relaxed. The drinks were great and breakfast was decent as it was also free.
Being in a bungalow on the beach is great, but the bugs aren't so great. There were a few ants and roaches. I guess it comes with the territory. We also didn't realize right away that we were being charged a 10% gratuity and were tipping 20% on top of that.
Nicely situated, excellent breakfast, charming staff and great rooms!
My wife and I travel every two months and hold respectful expectations for service and comfort based on price. This is the complete package. 5 star service, beautiful beach and layout, comfortable rooms and ours wasn't even one of the new renevated rooms.
You can't beat the location – it's on the beach and one of the last hotels on the "strip" before the reserve, which means you can go running or walking for 40 km and basically be alone on the white sand. We loved our stay here. The room was very clean, basic and had a fantastic view towards the ocean. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the restaurant serves simple but tasty food. This is the perfect place for peace and quiet and for just enjoying life on the beach. There are plenty of comfortable sunbeds. Highly recommend staying here, we would definitely like to come back!
The only thing we missed during our week here was a fridge in the room. Other than that – perfect! (That the cab ride costs 150 pesos into town can't come as a surprise if you did your homework. And if you want to stock up on cheap drinking water, buy that in town. There are no supermarkets near the beach.)
Peacefulness, quiet, proximity to beach, food, staff's desire and ability to accommodate all requests
The location, the beach and the kind of the hotel was very nice.
I didn't like the service for breakfast. It would be better to have a small buffet. It's better for the staff and for the guests.
Mossimo and his professional and attentive staff were some of the best I've spent time with over 6 trips to Mexico over several years on the Pacific and Caribbean coasts. Hands down, the property was the best maintained, and most romantic quintessential tropical- lovers paradise we found. And we walked miles of the beach in search of a future wedding spot. Loved, Jonathan, Silvia, Sandy, Gorge, Alejandro, Marcos et al...they all take care of the guests, including the 3 am security guard that woke us and got us off on the shuttle to sadly depart. They all provided an eco friendly (wi-fi only, which we needed) experience that never left us wanting more. You just needed to ask. We've been home for two days and are planning our next visit already...see for your self, but please keep it small and a secret. Go to Cancun or an all inclusive 'cattle lot' if you want crowds and a party scene, Rosa Del Viento is intimate and all about getting away from it all. And fresh fish that was literally brought in by boat -right to the beach daily, no joke! A great time all the way around, money well spent!!
Ummm, the pillows were a bit firm for my taste.
Liked that it was away from the busy parts of the beach. The sunloungers were lovely and comfy, the food was very good (ceviche wonderful) and that it was literally on the beach.
The only thing is that there were hardly ever any people in the restaurant in the evening so it lacked atmosphere but that would be the only thing. Lots of other restaurants to try along the main strip. Also because it is at the end of the strip it is a fair distance from the other restaurants. It would be good for bike hire to be included or at least enough bikes for all the guests as there werent any for us to rent when we wanted to use them at night time to get to other places.
