*Variation of the a la carte restaurants was positive. A really unique experience every night and was really something to look forward to. I don't know how this would be at peak season, though, if you could get in to all of them or not. *The Select Club was well worth the price to have access to the special pool and beach area and a la carte lunch/breakfast.
*Not the resort for you if you are looking for peace and quiet. By 8am they had men with leaf blowers cleaning off the paths, so no sleeping in. The main pool was blasting club music not long after, and you couldn't escape this anywhere on the beach. The Select Club beach area has free wifi, so people would sit and talk on their phones/ipads on calls or Facetime on speaker phone! I'm trying to relax, I don't need to hear you asking the people back home about the weather, and I certainly don't need to hear their reply!
The restaurants, the service at the adults pool, the convenience of the facilities. Great place for a relaxing holiday and good value for the money.
Very honest...I almost lost all my ID and but front desk had returned all the money, passport tickets. Nothing was missing. WHEW...Staff, food and design was excellent!
Beach is very rocky inside the water. Very disappointed. Recommendations to bring water shoes were very helpful.
The jungle which the hotel is located in, the privacy of it, the beach (the adults only side), the adults only pool
the service, they gave us the wrong room at first and it took them a long time to fix it.
With over 900 rooms, the Sandos Caracol will never run out of rooms. But that means that you will be relaxing with 2,000 other people and their children. This was our second visit, the first time the Select club was under development, this time the development was complete.
The beach is probably the worst feature of this resort. The amount of rocks and seaweed make it almost unusable. The adults only section is not really adults only. The section of the resort for adults and the Select club includes one pool and one small section of the beach, which is the only swimmable section, thus, it is filled with children. The quality of the food was atrocious. The buffet dinners were inedible, very cheap low quality food and there was no difference between the Mexican and international buffet. You are only allowed one a la carte dinner every 3 nights, when you have to share the dinning room with small children. The a la carte dinners are not as bad as the buffet but they are very low quality. Overall, it will be a waste of your money.
Mexican buffet was good. The parks with the animals inside the resort is something different and makes good impression. Some evening events in the theatre was nice. Maya was the best.
Room are poor, even the suites in Select area. All the amenities were very old. There are like 1000 rooms and all the places are crowded. Spa and gym don't worth even to pass by. There is no WiFi available in the rooms. Only in some public spots and the connection is always very poor. It is not reliable at all. Service in general was average.
The food was excellent with a great choice of A la carte restaurants, we were there for 6 nights and ate in a different one each night. The wildlife in the resort is amazing.
The drinks are poor quality, especially the juices, beer and vodka. The beach itself is nice but very cramped, the sea isn't great.
