close to the sea
All the stuff on the reception is terrible!!! They approach you as you own them something! Verry crouded, Beach is full, Food was very limited and not the best, all restaurants looks like a foodcort / very crouded. A lot of drunk people. Very noisy!
The resort has different sections, for adult only and for families. You can have a very quite relaxing time at adult-only section yet go close to the beach and enjoy parting with your friends. The quality of food for an all inclusive resort is good especially the seafoods. You can enjoy a la carte restaurants with no need for any advance reservation. My favorite was Asian restaurant.
Rooms close to the beach are cheaper but much older and they smell. Also you won't have access to adult only section. Steaks at all restaurants are not eatable
Food and entertainment and service provided by staff
Poor Wifi kept cutting out and was not available in our room. The bed was hard and We felt a little intimidated with the pressure of discussing the Sandos Resorts and purchasing into a Time Share arrangement
The salsa and water aerobics at the beach and the pool.
The bikes were really bad. The beach had too much stuff, a brownish algae???
Beach is large. Lots of activities throughout the day.
Monkeys smeared poop on the buildings and peed on stair railings and it was not cleaned during my seven day stay. Spilled drinks in elevators were not cleaned. Pillows were hard and the A/C rattled so loudly we couldn't sleep with it on. There were not enough beach towels for the size of the resort. Had to stand in line for up to 15 minutes on several occasions waiting for towels and then they wanted to limit me to two towels even though there were three paying people in my party. The food all tasted the same - not good. Worst meal of the week was at the Mexican restaurant. We waited 2-1/2 hours to eat in the restaurant and our party of seven left after two bites. They can't do Mexican food well and they are Mexican - it's almost like they were trying to make it bad so they could force people to the buffets. Very, very few staff members spoke English. No service whatsoever. At other all-inclusives where I have stayed, the staff goes all out - not the case here. Once you are checked in and have paid, they are done helping you.
Overall my family and I had a wonderful time.
Too many people and the music a little too loud by the pool and on the beach.
The resort was fairly clean and staff were friendly...beach was nice....no reservations required for a la cartes..Michael Jackson show very good
The food was very average...we have stayed at many 4 star all inclusives and Sandos rates near the bottom for food quality. We both got very sick for 2 days and ate/drank nowhere except the resort. No staff asked how our trip went...not even when we checked out...will not return
Lots of activities
The sales staff that wants us to spend 90 minutes to hear their promotion.
Food was great. Lunch in Med restaurant was fantastic.
Spirits were low quality. for 5 start all inclusive. Should be better. Main poor by pool needed upgrading. It was a like YMCA bar.
We typically travel to higher end facilities, so some of the ratings are hard to compare, but did feel the price was reasonable. We enjoyed the Asian restaurant, Cupcake Cafe, The Bagel Shop (but weird hours - doesn't open til 6:30pm for a bagel?) Teen club was popular with the kids. Solid location. We had a great trip.
Check in process, and attitudes or incompetence of many of the administration staff. Seemed to not understand we were their guests. They didn't have enough rooms so upgraded one of our rooms to Hacienda then tried to get us to move in 2 days and pack and unpack. Luckily the lady at helped with this quickly pulled back and didn't push this, but they do this so often they even have a standard form. Overall, the food was below average, and pretty mediocre liquor, but Dos Equies on tap was always cold.
Staff very accomodating, property had plenty to do.
First room sliding door not able to lock, safe was inoperable. Moved rooms, slight hassle but accomplished.
Location is exceptional. Adults only beach is large and well equipped. All beach parties finished at 11:00PM sharp. Beach gets cleaned every night. Hotel service and administration staff is very friendly. French restaurant is very exquisite. Mexican restaurant is very good. Transportation within resort - it has quite long property - well organized with Vans and golf carts. Service staff successfully resolves any technical (room) problems within 15-20 minutes.
WIFI is limited to the central administrative buildings and Royal Club member's area. Both breakfast / lunch buffet restaurants do not have air conditioned area. At 30C and high humidity it is not very comfortable. Room equipment is quite outdated, although it is very clean and well maintained. Theatre is not air conditioned.
Food was good, beach was real nice a lot of shade if wanted, lot of chairs
Beds were hard, kinda of ways to get to the beach but I was on the adult only side which is the farthest away
The beach was nice
Room flooded, smelt musty, buffet was not very good.
This was our second stay at Sandos, our first was a few years ago when we got married there. The staff is always amazing, so incredibly friendly and always so cheerful. The entertainment crew is always there to get you up and moving, but they aren't pushy. Chairs at the beach and the pools are plentiful. Tours are easily booked from the hotel. We went to Xcaret on this trip. Playacar is FAR better to stay at than in Cancun, if you ask me. You are in a private gated resort community, there is wildlife on the property without having to 'rough' it (The howler monkeys are adorable!) and since Sandos is at the end of Playacar, there is lots of beach to spread out on. The food is always great, whether you eat at a restaurant that requires reservations or the massive Festival buffet. Wait staff is always attentive while you eat and at the pools/beach. We will definitely be returning there anytime we plan on going to Mexico!
Sandos is pretty big, so they provide golf carts to transport you around the resort. Our last few days there, they were down to one working golf cart, which isn't a problem unless you aren't staying by the beach. Also, the last few days, none of the USD$ ATM's were working, so we had to resort to getting pesos from the front desk. It would have been nice to not be stuck with a lot of pesos before our return home.
