Hotel was close to several archeological sites and the cancun Mayan museum, also direct onto the beach.
Full of American tourists who have a tendency to 'claim' sun loungers etc. annoying and loud. Also the hotel is a bit like a retirement village ie the clientele is primarily in the family or elderly categories. Not great for couples and not great if you are on a hotel package and not part of the 'club' as you get the worst rooms. Our room was musty and needed repairs and refurb. We asked to be moved due to the smell and you would hav thought we were asking for their first born. Pretty under whelming for the price. Staff were ok but never really looked like they wanted to help and had to be pushed.
The warm weather...
Wife got serious food poisoning....Still recovering...Month later
The views, the room size, the staff
Having to switch your hotel room was really obnoxious and not very organized. The food at this hotel was geared toured the tourists, not much local flavor involved in it at all.
The view from the room.
The restaurant is a bit pricy.
Excelent restaurants (excelent breakfast and mexican food), great swimming pools and great facilities. Good location, beautiful and silent beach outfront. The sea was very agitated on the first day, wavy, but it was very calm on the remaining days. It looked like a swimming pool. I guess it depends on the tide. The rooms are big and clean. It's a good place to stay if you're looking for comfort but not expecting great luxury.
Standard room has two separate single beds, not very comfortable, and doesn't provide the option to a couple bed. It might be worth paying a little extra for the better room with the bigger balcany. We waited for 1,5 hour for the room exchange on saturday, until finally I went myself to the reception desk to get the keys and do the exchange myself, in order not to miss the rest of the morning waiting inside the room.
Location, great beach
Poor housemaking of the room. "concierge" is arrogant and more of a timeshare salesman
The beach and the pools are kept clean and tidy
Having to Change room after a week, having to pay for the gym and not being able to cancel the reservation on day 1 as place wasn't really for a young couple.
Bath was clogged with a massive amount of hair, as if it had not been cleaned in months. Staff did little to resolve issue in a prompt manner.
Overall a great value, professional, competent check-in desk, friendly attentive waitstaff, nice beach, beautiful pool. Only downside the cocktails were weak. Also the property policy states no reserved beach chairs & Palapas but this was not enforced by the staff. 8:30 am we found many beach chairs with towels on chairs but no people show up until 12 or 12:30. Staff said they couldn't do anything about it. Why not?
All cocktails were weak, I witnessed several guests complaining about it to the bartenders so it wasn't just us who noticed. Also the property policy states no reserved beach chairs but the policy is not enforced by the staff. At 8:30 am we found most beach chairs with towels on chairs but no people show up until 12 or 12:30. Staff said they couldn't do anything about it. Why not?
I could not find 1 thing I did not like about this hotel. everything I needed including a small little grocerie store when we just wanted a light lunch or some snacks. WiFi was excellent, rooms more then I expected. We only stayed 2 nights on our way back to the airport but I will definitely keep this place in mind when needing to stay for longer period of time
Absolutely fantastic beach, great market in the hotel, very fast wifi, nice and clean swimming pools, great restaurants, local bus stop nearby-we went downtown few nights, it was easy to get out and get back to the hotel without spending a fortune on taxis (taxis very expensive over there...). Staff very friendly, nice atmosphere in the hotel, I would love to go back!!!
i really.like it, i would like to go there again..
nice nice nicd
Beach, good food at tiki bar
No free shuttle
my kids and i had the best time we were looked after and treated like family
Our maid cleaned the room meticulously, even washing the windows! The free shuttle bus to other Royal club properties was a bonus and helped in getting around. Restaurant food was excellent. Our room on ground level had easy access to the pool.
Wifi failed a few times and then had to get the IT guy to come and fix, which then means paying a tip. On site store was over-priced. The Royal Islander didn't have kid's activities, as most guests looked to be in the retired bracket, but we went next door to the Royal Caribbean for kids stuff.
Location - short hop to main restaurants and shopping Right by beautiful beach, white sands, turquoise water, clean. Great weather for time of year (Jan) Whole resort well kept and presented. Service great, everyone genuinely pleasant and friendly and wishing to please. Pina Coladas very nice.
Having to move rooms on final day of short 4 day trip. At times, felt like we were in the movie 'Cocoon', as most of the other guests were post-retirement age. Food on offer in the hotel restaurants was all OK, but nothing to write home about.
Room is good sea view full facilities Easy to get bus to down town Its big and nice hotel helpfull staff
Everything, especially Wifi!
Beach and food
No champu and no coffee
Rude staff. Not bothered to help There is nothing at all in the fridge . No water to drink in THE whole hotel after 11 pm ( you cant drink tap water Mexico) Staff in reception reassured me there was no way to find water . In the end I had to take a taxi for 200 pesos to go to a supermarket and buy mineral water Cleaners did Storm into the room twice despite me saying that we were busy My gf and myself were literally naked in bed . They ignored our shouts and still came in . There is no " do not disturb" Room was not cleaned when requested Room were left dirty by cleaners Staff keep a very rude and uncaring attitude from the beginning till the end of our stay
Friendly staff - very helpful and polite. The view of the beach and pool area from a standard room on top floor. Central Location to the hotel Zone Access to ALL the other Royal Resorts and their facilities (bar Royal Hacienda) via Free shuttle service. Thomas Moore Travel desk within hotel – helpful staff to arrange all your excursions around Cancun. Royal Caribbean supermarket within hotel.
Great value for money, beautiful views, nice pools, the restaurant was pretty good.
I loved it all especially the free shuttle that takes you to the other Royal hotels to visit! Easy access to bus stops to take you to town !
That we had to leave to our time share for a week!!
Friendly staff, great food, service and facilities. Ease of access to all amenities and other attractions in the area.
The location was convenient for us as we were heading to the airport The suite was large and allowed self catering
The suite had a very unpleasant smell. We were only there one day so it didn't really matter but if we had been staying longer it would have been a problem
