Score from 518 reviews Wonderful
Good food choices Pleasant staff
maintenance service really slow during stay
Friendly staff, big pool with water aerobics classes, nice beach, very clean.
Surcharge on some food choices, limited selection of beer on AI plan, need to sign for every meal/drink.
Facilities, location, friendly staff !
Small selection of restaurants on site.
Almost everything wrong with this place
Terrible staff, awful facilities for the price. The complete experience was unpleasant. Would not recommend.
At the end of our three week holiday in Yucatan we spent three nights All Inclusive in the Royal Sands. It was a real treat. We only spent time on the large, gorgeous beach in front of the hotel and we went out for some runs on the beach and on the sidewalks. Food and drinks on the beach were tasty and served right at our beach beds. The hotel is beautiful. All Inclusive was very good. We were allowed to use it until 4 PM on the day of our departure. The room was big and had a kind of walk in closet. Airco worked fine. In the sports bar and the buffet restaurant it was a bit chilly. Every morning we had breakfast outside. A very nice start of the day. Breakfast buffet was plentiful. One evening we had dinner in the buffet restaurant and had nice wine and food. The second evening we had dinner in the Hacienda Sisal (included in AI). Great food and very friendly staff. The last evening we had dinner in El Conquistador (a 3 km southbound walk, plenty of buses as well). We saw it is the no 7 restaurant in Cancun and it was easy to book a table (included in AI). Dinner was great and plentiful. Staff very attentive. Wifi worked even on the beach. We read in reviews about high taxi transfer prices to the airport. We ordered a hotel from the concierge at the garden lobby and we paid 300 MXN. We thought this wasn’t too bad for the distance and location.
We saw signs that the hotel checks if beds near the pool and on the beach aren’t ‘reserved’, but we didn’t have the impression they really do this. It seemed to us that many beds were ‘reserved’ and nothing happened. Fortunately we had nice beds all the time, but we wonder what it’s like on a sunny day in high season.
Rooms are more like an apartment. Great.
We had to change rooms from Friday to Saturday There is no shuttle service from and to the airport
The staff were VERY friendly and helpful. There were 5 off site restaurants that were part of the all inclusive. There were 4 tennis courts.
This hotel had the second most tennis courts in Cancun yet there was no tennis program. No pro, no sessions and the coordination by the sports desk was nothing more than putting your name on a board.
Friendly staff, excellent food with lots of choices & enjoyed driving over to Playa Del Carmen to check out their sister property.
Arrival experience at FD didn't feel very welcoming and we began to question choosing this resort but it turned out to be a wonderful place!
Everything, particularly that we could 'Dine Around' in the other Royal hotels near by, taking the free shuttle or the low cost local buses. Most rooms have great views of the sea, by clever design/layout. We would recommend a high room in blocks M & N to have sun most of the day.
Difficult to find anything to dislike.
courtesy of staff, beach and pool area, food and drinks, very clean, big room with a nice view
Room was very nice. Beach area with umbrellas the best! Food ordered from menu (especially dinner) super good!
Asking about room number and room key when we ordered something to eat or drink even if we had to wear all inclusive brancelets.
Room was big and nice I liked bar at pool
Resort was so big that finding restaurant was little bit difficult even front desk gave me a resort map :D
- nice location - good food ( although only one restaurant inside the hotel, rest ib the city) - good all inclusive (quality of food and drinks) - great swimming pool
- for most restaurants you need to drive to the city
The location is good and the beach is perfect - amazing white sand & blue warm sea.The staff was very friendly and helpful. Good service on the beach as well. Swimming pool was nice. We were satisfied with food, the buffet was different every day. Was a wonderful holiday.
High prices in the hotel shop & car rental.
A core location in the Zona Hotelera, the food of 3 restaurants of the inclusive list was excellent, I'm sure you won't choose the inclusive dishes.
I don't really buy their money system though it's easy way to pay in the hotel in some way, but there was no other way I could pay as I wanted to use up the pesos on my hands. I don't know whether it's ordinary in Cancun that the way to pay is totally American(as far as I experienced, it is). It's not a complaint, that is how the attendants in Cancun are spoilt and even a WC cleaner in airport asked for tips.
Food at restaurants outside hotel were great and in the hotel also very good. Drinks mostly tasty. Musicians at Hacienda Sisal were great!
You will be asked your name, room number by a server and to hand them a key card every time you order something, and you have to sign on $0.00 bill before you leave. No nightly entertainment other than Karaoke & Halloween show. Only 2 choices of beer (draft only) for all inclusive guests.
- food - El Conquistador, Captain's Cove, Hacienda Sisal - they all rock. Enjoy the mexican and american food. As long as you stick with these you won't regret! - beach - walking the beach 2 kms both ways and you easily realize that Sands has one of the best best beaches - wide with straw umbrellas with lots of space around you - service - great people everywhere, in the restaurants, reception, the maids - all inclusive refine package - we've taken every single bit of the advantage we could - visited all the restaurants, drank our way thru the beach time - I highly recommend it. Doing the math you can't loose :-)
- time share offers, concierge sales offers - look around first and search the internet before buying anything. Many of the offers may not be worth it. Just ignore them if you don't want them :-)
The food was very good for an all inclusive hotel. The staff was very helpful. We were allowed to use the all inclusive for 5 more hours after we checked out.
Clean and well maintained There is a shuttle to other couple of Royal hotels where you can also receive all included service(R. Cancun & R. Haciendas) Great beach (compared to Royal Cancun and Royal Haciendas) Friendly staff Most of the rooms have great view to the ocean Location: walking distance to high end malls(not cheap) few minutes on the bus to Hotel zone shopping center and 20 min to Cancun itself. Staff does not insist on tips also you can include tip to the check and it will be deducted at the check out.
Very loud air conditioning In small rooms there are 2 beds that are a bit small for a couple(not possible to join them) A bit limited buffet, there is a menu (included) Limited selection of beers in all inclusive package Timeshare hotel Every meal or at bar you have to ask for a check and sign on a bill, It is a hustle for guests with all inclusive package (folks with timeshares don't have all inclusive) Spa (Jacuzzi & sauna) and laundry are for additional charge Very expensive convenience store(Walmart in Cancun is way cheaper)
Very clean, well maintained. All rooms have a view.
It is a timeshare resort so expect to be offered to participate in presentation in order to get discounts on excursions. Loud air conditioning. Small rooms come with two beds that are a bit small for 2 people and you cannot move them together.
Food & drinks, amazing beach, nice pool bar
Pool area, courtesy of staff, drinks, spacious rooms, restaurants. SPA*****
this is an all inclusive hotel. I missed the chance to interact with other guests through social activities.
I'm not a fan of buffet food so when I saw that the food in the buffet wasn't all that great I just did room service the whole time I was there. I made use of the fantastic spa and the beach they us was wonderful.
The fact that you always had to give someone your card even though you are all inclusive.
