The Palapita on the top floor has an amazing view over the whole island and comes with a spacious private rooftop terrace, outside shower for refreshment and sunbeds. Super nice to spent a quiet and private evening there. The owner is very nice and gives good tips about breakfast and dinner options in town. Very clean, beachtowels and coffe available, beach is just down the sandy path (1 minute) and town center is max 10 minutes walking distance.
The bed was a little bit short for my norwegian boyfriend.
Bring mosquito spray!
Beautiful family and island, once there you will never what leave!
The facility met all of our practical needs for comfort, and the kitchen was well equipped in terms of cooking utensils, drinking water, etc. The two resident managers were very helpful, and their two young sons are delightful. The dogs, Maya and especially the Rottweiler puppy Xura, entertained us every morning. The location is quiet yet convenient to beaches and the town.
There's not much of a view from the lower level apartments, although we did not expect much in that regard for the price we paid. The kitchen could be better stocked with some condiments and washing-up supplies rather than leaving it to the guests to buy them.
Very comfortable apartment. Kitchen was very functional and had all the right utensils for basic cooking. Location was good (a short distance from town so the beach was quiet but not too far away to be inconvenient). Google searches made us scared about mosquitoes but we didn't have any problems.
Shower ran out of hot water very quickly. We walked from the ferry and so finding the place was a bit tricky because it isn't well signposted. Had to pay extra for a beach towel.
antoine is great and hands off. avail when you need. the place is quaint and comfortable. the rooms are small but it is what we wanted. location is a bit far from town center but the walk is very easy. we liked it quiet.
Friendly comfortable atmosphere
I was thoroughly enamoured by Villa los Mangles, its owners, and the staff. Altogether, I stayed at 3 hotels on Isla Holbox and, although the other 2 hotels were far more expensive and exclusive than this one, I definitely preferred Villa los Mangles. What could possibly be better than a fully equipped apartment? It provides a vacationer with independence and flexibility that isn't an option else-where. I appreciated being able to cook for myself when I tired of restaurant meals or wished to eat more simply and inexpensively. The apartments at Villa los Mangles are spotless, bright, and very close to a quiet and pristine beach, far from the less attractive beaches near the centre of Holbox.
Reviews that I read prior to arriving at Villa los Mangles hinted that Antoine and his staff are somehow responsible for the evening mosquito and no-see-'em problems that visitors must put up with. Nothing could be further from the truth. The two other hotels that I stayed at, both of which were much more lavish and expensive than Villa los Mangles, suffered far worse bug infestations at night. C'est la vie on this island! Quit griping and bring/use your bug repellant!! Beyond that, my only challenge everywhere on the island was charging my Kobo reader. The answer? The computer restoration and internet site downtown; its source of power is stronger than any of the hotels'.
It is a very nice clean place peacefull. You can very eacy go to town og the beach.
The 3 person room need a lamp to all 3 beds and it wood bee nice to have 3 drinking glass. Remember to get at bill on your arriving. We paid the full amount on arriving and the deposit (50%) was NOT whitdrawen and we did NOT get a bill ore any note of what we paid. So we paid 150% for det room and that is not fair.We have not been abel to get ower money back : (
The owners Antoine and Lilyanna ,, beautiful people the Villa is beautiful ,,,,,, they treated us like family from the moment we arrived , very close to the beach , a beautiful rottie Shula to greet you and of course Mila her friend .,, loved the people in the little town
Hot water for showers is not always hot had a few days no hot water , it is a fair walk to town but that was OK we like walking , bugs are bad so take bug spray and go inside for awhile when the sun goes down ,,, buy your groceries in Cancun as very limited in Holbox , Antoine told us that but united lost our luggage with our cooler bags so we couldn't and that was a bad experiance
Well kept house with permanent daily staff. Recommendations from owner were good. Access to the beach is not far (5 min walk). Some convenient stores nearby. We did not mind the walk to town because we enjoy walking. Very nice patio table and hamac to enjoy a coffee in the shade in the afternoon. We would go again even knowing the bugs situation but this could be improved with smaller mesh screens to windows as it is available for tents.
The mosquitoes and the no-see-ums (very small flying insects that can go through normal mesh screen) were a real pest that prevented us from staying outside or even opening the windows at night. Since this is a reoccuring problem, the owner should mention not to open the windows at night as the no see-ems are attracted by the light inside. We were busy killing them for a while before we figured out the problem and closed the Windows. The fans were a poor solution to move the air around the apartment as they were Noisy and would need some maintenance. We did have strong bug repellent and it helped but one does not want to use it after taking a shower.
The family who runs the property are wonderful and stayed positive despite the truly terrible weather. They were very helpful
Non-private bathroom was not helpful, but for the price, perhaps to be expected. More frequent towel change could have been helpful given the terrible weather.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, nice, well maintained and very clean rooms and garden
No airconditioning, *lots* of mosquitos and sandflies
I was amazed by the view that we could see from our room which was roof-top type one. The stars were amazing that we could see many shooting stars, back side of hotel was completely forest and make you feel like you're really away from your usual life. Its worth to have those space to spend slow time. The room was just enough size for 2 people, not big, there is no private in bathroom but considering the price, it's ok. The family who runs this place was very nice that make you think you're visiting your relative house.
Bath towel and beach towel were not changed every day. Many mosquitos, highly recommend to bring mosquito spray.
