The location and staff were great
More rustic than I'm used to but that's not their fault.
- Cozy cabannes - good wifi - fair food - free kayaks
- It's quite fair away from the village - the road is in such a bad state that many taxis didn't like to bring us - there should be a free ride to the village because of the state of the road - quite expensive
The location is surreal; secluded, right on the lagoon, and very well thought out to the last detail. The room was exactly what we hoped it would be; comfortable, clean, ecological. But most of all the staff is what makes this place stand out, they really do everything they can to make you feel at home.
Nothing bad to say about this place, we can't wait to go back!!
The lagoon is really beautiful, the nature and I would recommend a boat trip to get to know everything!
The room has a basic equipment with an open bathroom, with lots of Miskitos. You need to get used of the toilet. Generally really unorganized staff - reception, owner, delays etc. it's a real Eco experience with less comfort - too expensive for what it is.
The water tasted bad and there was no shower in the room, only a tub.
Just the kind of surprise you will tell long after! Friendly, family atmosphere, warm and beautiful spot
Great staff. Very good food. Very quiet and romantic. Coffee served on our deck every morning.
Poor quality road. No hot water in shower.
Great location and home made food. Friendly people.
Dark, dark cabins...needed torches and lucky we brought our own. Rather 'simple' conditions and limited 'nicities' for the price (weak management?) Bumpy access road.
the main entrance to the hotel is very bad, it is a very rude patch with mud and rocks they have to improve in that way.
Lovely romantic place on the lagoon. Very suited to couples. Lovely and friendly staff.
Rustic but luxurious. Cabaña was beautiful and outdoor shower and loo so tastefully done. Friendly staff who couldn't speak much English but tried their hardest. Wonderful people. The lake beach was beautiful and deck over water so romantic. We had the whole place to ourselves as it was offseason. Breakfast was amazing. All home made and delicious, as was the simple selection. On offer for dinner. We stayed only one night but came back for dinner as we were still in the area. Absolutely wonderful place. Possibly my favourite of out 2 week journey round the Yucatan Peninsula and south.
Smelly drains when showering.
The place is ideal to relax completely and do absolutely nothing. If you are looking for this kind of rest, head there without any doubts. It is located at the bank of the laguna Bacalar and you may use the hotel's kayaks for free whenever you wish to discover the lake. The personnel of the hotel is adorable and at your service 24x7, bringing you delicious pinas coladas or just a glass of refreshing water with ice even in the middle of the Laguna should you wish so. The breakfast is basically " all you can eat a la carte" and any of your wishes will come true by the lovely people in the restaurant. However as besides eating, swimming and kayaking you will hardly be able to invent any exciting activity there, it is more than enough to stay in that hotel for 2-3 nights. Two more tips for your stay- there is a lovely lady doing massages on demand there, use this opportunity. And don' t miss to watch the stars by night, you will be impressed!
It is not about liking or disliking anything, but just providing you with a realistic picture or things which remain behind the scenes of the hotel's description. In other words, if you want to observe "eco" policy of the place and disconnect from the entire world in your own little paradise, you should sacrifice with something as well. Just get ready to it. 1. 4x4 vehicle to get there. Keep in mind that the place is in the very middle of nowhere and that you will hardly be able to get there without a solid car. The closest town of Bacalar is 7 km away, but the hardest part of this way are those 2 km between the hotel and the highway. You should have experience of extreme driving, especially after some heavy rains when all those potholes called a road are covered with water. Don't expect driving there faster then 10km/h or even 5km/h. For this reason you will unlikely wish leaving the hotel as overcoming the stress of that road, thus get ready to use the services of the hotel ´ s restaurant which is open from 8am to 9pm. 2. commodities. Another thing to mention is the eco- friendly dry toilet and shower outside, not ideal if you are not a great fun of insects and if you have never experienced using a dry toilet. 3. And the last and not the least - a very good tip from the hotel's manager, take vitamin B daily for about two months before coming there to prevent the mosquitos attacks. Or get ready to fight against them for the whole of your stay there.
