If you are looking for a different holiday than a beach holiday this is the place to go. Location is amazing and peaceful . Owner and staff are quite helpful and resourceful. No crowds , no speedboats , no loud music ...just the birds and butterflies...and the other guests that come and go. Breakfast is decent and dinner , if requested is homestyle cooking. Very affordable.

Fresh coffee as opposed to instant would be nice.

Proximity with lagun. Very welcome from the staff.

Electrics plugs did not work in the cabanas.

QUiet location. Atmosphere. Wildlife. ONly a short walk to the warm lagoon for swimming, kayaking or sunning

Bugs come out for about an hour every evening. I probably would've been fine with repellent, but they weren't a problem in our cabana.

    Not much of anything

Instant coffee? No electricity in rooms for charging etc. No chairs, dim lights no place to sit and relax in side.

Beautiful grounds. Beautiful cabanas. Liked the little touches like the trees being labelled with their type. Staff were very friendly. We had dinner and it was extremely good and was a very good value as well. Overall, we would go back for a couple of days, but any longer for us would be too much.

The beds were very uncomfortable. The pool was not filled which was a big disappointment. The solar power meant very dim light.

Easy access to Lake Bacalar, free use of kayaks and lake side dock.Beautifully landscaped and maintained grounds. Great birdwatching outside of the comfortable cabanas.Helpful staff.Would return.

The access road from the highway was very rough. The insect screening could be better.

Beautiful place. Pleasant reception. Peaceful and laid back, but still comfortable.

Nothing, and we certainly will be back.

It is really nice located, just a few meters from the lakes, free kayaks.

the upper net had some holes, therefore it was kind of difficult to try to sleep when there are some many bugs around you. if you come from Tulum to Bacalar you wont see the sign of the hotel

It's charming in that it's simple and unkempt. It's fully Eco; running only on solar or solar thermal power. Breakfast and dinner is ad hoc. They make one meal and you either have it or you don't. Lovely breakfast of fruit and eggs. There's nothing but butterflies and birds and beautiful nature around. A lovely little jungle walk, free kayaks and lovely little spots to just hang out and be.

It was lovely for what it was and I have no gripes as I wasn't expecting luxury, however, if you are a princess looking for simple and slightly rough... Don't come here - it's no frills at all. Go down the road 100 meters to Kuuch Ka'anil. Eco luxury. Eco Toucan sends it's guests there for dinner if they don't have meals of an evening. We stayed there for a night. Complete contrast. Open roof overhang into room and ineffective holely nets meant we had bats flying around the room, very large insects and cockroaches in the bed. As I say, very simple and quaint. I liked it, was glad of the mosquito net over bed.

Bacalar lagoon and city are nice. Great if you want to experience mosquitos and other bugs bites.

Confusion between ecology and precariousness : leak in the toilets, no window glass, no working plugs in the room, no pressure in the shower, humidity of the bed linens, no door lock, no wifi but at the outdoor reception desk, and finally dozens of ants on the breakfast buffet... Overall this was the worst experience we had during our 15 days trip. I would definitely NOT recommend this place.

Chilled out spot. Staff were very passionate and knowledgable about the local area.

We got ripped off twice by the taxis in the area. A taxi should be no more than 90 pesos from bacalar village to eco toucan. Make sure you agree the price up front.

Really liked this place. Set in a very remote location next to a lagoon it was the perfect place for a few days. The staff were brilliant and attentive whilst the accommodation was also of a very high quality. Individual bungalows are spread out throughout the site providing lots of privacy. The bungalows themselves are also really nice. Made of concrete with a thatched roof you get the occasional bug but the mosquito nets worked fine. The food was also really nice and served at set times which was quite a nice touch as it got all of the guests together.

The water pressure in the shower wasn't great but it certainly wouldn't stop me staying again. Taking the remote location in to account it is not an issue.

It is a great and relax environment at Ecotucan. Jaqueline, her husband and Arturo made us feel very welcomed. We loved the kayaking in the lagoon, we got great pics of the views. We were ready for heat and humidity, we took moskito repellent, sun block and enjoyed this place! Thank you!

    There were nice families visiting.

The woman who was in charge did not know about our reservations and was rude. No hospitality. The hotel is on the wrong side of Lake Bacalar so you did not see the special colors at all. There were no locks on th doors so you had to carry your cameras and iPads around. really disorganized.
