In gardens next to Lake Bacalar, Villas Eco-Románticas Kúuch Ka´anil features charming bungalows with private terraces. The eco-friendly complex showcases an outdoor swimming pool, spa and restaurant....
Score from 60 reviews Good
Too out of the way, too earthy, Felt like we were out of place
Location is awesome: you're in the middle of the jungle, close to the water, where there are free kayak to use to explore the laguna. The music in the lounge area is always good and relaxing. The dogs are lovely!
The chalets are old, that could be also fine but this ones are not really well maintained. Mosquito net's are broken, bathroom shower is full of limestone so it does not work well, one bad was comfortable but the other was not. Decor is poor. The don't accept credit card!
Laguna Garden Nice palmtrees
Clammy and humid houses/bed sheets (they were also holey). Lots of bedbucks/fleas!!! Too many mosquitos and ants. Not ideal for a longer stay.
Laguna Bacalar is amazingly beautiful and definitely worth to stay a couple of days! Villas Ecotucan has access to the lagune and there are kajaks to use at any time at no extra cost. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us tips what to see and arranged a really great boat trip. They also offer guided kajak tours. The atmosphere at the place is very warm and relaxing. Our bungalow was nice, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The owners offer nice dinner at a good price. Breakfast was also good and included in the room rate. This was our favourite place to stay during our trip throught Mexico!
The owner very kindly get me have my room early and breakfast on the first day when I arrived very early after getting an overnight bus to Chetumal. She also gave me a lift into Bacalar town on the second day. Beautiful gardens. Relaxing kayaking on the Laguna.
You need to bring a torch. Minimal power /lighting at night.
Location is nice in the Bacalar lagoon. Staff is friendly.
Credit cards are not accepted.
Place has a lot of potential, friendly staff, free kayaks and possibility of joining tours
Huge holes in almost all mosquito nets with the consequence of sharing your bed with tropical spiders.
It is a place where you feel at home, with a kind and relaxed spirit
There was a confusion in the staff and my reservation made via Booking.com was not in their books.
The place is very beautiful but would be nothing without the great service of the staff, the owner is am excellent and kind person, i definitely recommend it
Rustic nature, staff
Too hot, need more efficient fans for cooling at night.
The place, the location, the villas, and the server,
Access to lake, kayaks, bird watching, symphony of nature at dusk and dawn, friendly staff
mosquitoes and lack of electricity sockets in cabins
If you are looking for a different holiday than a beach holiday this is the place to go. Location is amazing and peaceful . Owner and staff are quite helpful and resourceful. No crowds , no speedboats , no loud music ...just the birds and butterflies...and the other guests that come and go. Breakfast is decent and dinner , if requested is homestyle cooking. Very affordable.
Fresh coffee as opposed to instant would be nice.
Proximity with lagun. Very welcome from the staff.
Electrics plugs did not work in the cabanas.
Friendly helpful owner, a nice place, after a short walk 2 min vou can swim in the lake. A place where you can relax
QUiet location. Atmosphere. Wildlife. ONly a short walk to the warm lagoon for swimming, kayaking or sunning
Bugs come out for about an hour every evening. I probably would've been fine with repellent, but they weren't a problem in our cabana.
everything is good the breakfast , Arturo the owner is realy nice ,the cabin is clean and beatifull.
Not much of anything
Instant coffee? No electricity in rooms for charging etc. No chairs, dim lights no place to sit and relax in side.
Beautiful grounds. Beautiful cabanas. Liked the little touches like the trees being labelled with their type. Staff were very friendly. We had dinner and it was extremely good and was a very good value as well. Overall, we would go back for a couple of days, but any longer for us would be too much.
The beds were very uncomfortable. The pool was not filled which was a big disappointment. The solar power meant very dim light.
Easy access to Lake Bacalar, free use of kayaks and lake side dock.Beautifully landscaped and maintained grounds. Great birdwatching outside of the comfortable cabanas.Helpful staff.Would return.
The access road from the highway was very rough. The insect screening could be better.
Lake. Birds in forest.
Beautiful place. Pleasant reception. Peaceful and laid back, but still comfortable.
Nothing, and we certainly will be back.
It is really nice located, just a few meters from the lakes, free kayaks.
the upper net had some holes, therefore it was kind of difficult to try to sleep when there are some many bugs around you. if you come from Tulum to Bacalar you wont see the sign of the hotel
It's charming in that it's simple and unkempt. It's fully Eco; running only on solar or solar thermal power. Breakfast and dinner is ad hoc. They make one meal and you either have it or you don't. Lovely breakfast of fruit and eggs. There's nothing but butterflies and birds and beautiful nature around. A lovely little jungle walk, free kayaks and lovely little spots to just hang out and be.
It was lovely for what it was and I have no gripes as I wasn't expecting luxury, however, if you are a princess looking for simple and slightly rough... Don't come here - it's no frills at all. Go down the road 100 meters to Kuuch Ka'anil. Eco luxury. Eco Toucan sends it's guests there for dinner if they don't have meals of an evening. We stayed there for a night. Complete contrast. Open roof overhang into room and ineffective holely nets meant we had bats flying around the room, very large insects and cockroaches in the bed. As I say, very simple and quaint. I liked it, was glad of the mosquito net over bed.
