The view was excellent, and so was the staff !! can't thank them enough !!! A great place to stay.
Tub sloped wrong way so water would not drain. (earthquake ???)
I liked the friendliness of other guests. The place is old but kept in good condition. The rooms are basic but clean. The infinity pool was lovely, overlooking the bay. The rooms are very good value for the money and have everything you need. I would gladly stay there again.
The only negative is the location of the hotel. If you have any problems with climbing or descending stairs it is not for you. From the hotel is about 160 steps down to the town. A cab can be hired for 50 pesos to go to and from town.
Nice hotel not too far from downtown, great pool and all the rooms had a view
It wasn't on the beach, but only15 minute walk to downtown
We enjoyed he fantastic view, the size of the rooms, the friendly staff. Lots or repeat guests that were very friendly and a wealth of information regarding restaurants and good local beaches. The owner, Eduardo hosted a BBQ for guests and staff, amazing!
Fantastic view, swimming pool, fairly spacious rooms.
No facilities to make or buy hot drinks. The hotel is a fair distance from the nearest restaurant, so a kettle in he room would be very handy to make a morning tea or coffee. The decor of the rooms could be improved at practically no cost to match the fantastic quality of the view over the whole bay. There is a nice infinity pool overlooking the bay but again, if you want to enjoy the view with a drink in your hand, you have to drag up a steep hill from town.
Staff were friendly, however did not speak much English, but were patient with our broken Spanish. The room was beautiful and spacious, and exactly as described on the website. A great place for a couple or small family.
Wifi was a bit difficult to get a hold of, had to hunt a bit for the password, there weren't any instructions on how to access it.
The manager gave us an outstanding free upgrade to a two bedroom suite on the top floor with great space and views. We could not have been more surprised. From the start, the service was outstanding. Very comfortable and well equipped.
I could just sit and look over the bay from this spot all day!! Excellent view. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly and courteous, refusing to let me carry my own (heavy) bag upon arrival. Nice pool. Simple yet very nice.
The WiFi was lacking, slow and disconnecting. NO food options in the hotel whatsoever, a snack machine or anything would be nice. Really nothing to complain about though!
Incredible value for money. Lots of space. Clean rooms, no bug issues. The room had character due to the artistic detail and layout.
very nice room, clean. Kitchen is full equipped. Spectacular view!! It is worth going up the stairs :) realy quiet and peacfull place. very relaxing.
for elder people the stairs can be a little bit challenge, but for us it wasn`t so bad.
i enjoyed our stay in this amazing hotel. the view is unbelievable, the pool, room everything was clean. and the stuff was very helpfull and super friendly
you could mention the long stairs up to the hotel. its very tiring in the sun. but you always have the chance to catch a taxi if you mind walking.
The lovely bay views, the polite nature of all.
Too many steps going down and up, but a taxi sorted that out.
Excellent staff, rooms were kept impeccably clean and service was friendly. Any slight request was dealt with immediately and thoroughly. The owner personally called and talked to me upon arrival and departure to make sure everything was going well. The location was quiet and the hotel has nice view of the bay. Beds, television, air-conditioning and wifi were of a quality that exceeded my expectations for a hotel of this price.
This is less a complaint but more so a heads-up for other travelers: The hotel is on a hill and the only way to walk to the city is a short trip (10 minutes) on steep and uneven steps and through back-alleys in a poorer part of town. I enjoyed the walk myself but some of my friends were less accustomed to doing exercise in the heat and they were less experienced with impoverished neighborhoods (and the smells and stray dogs that are in them). Anyone traveling with a vehicle or opting to take cabs (which were plentiful and cheap) can completely avoid this if they choose! As I said, I personally found the walk interesting and it was worth it to be a little bit away from the noise and heat that persisted right on the beach.
I loved my suite and the view! It was spacious, very clean and beautifully decorated. The bed was artistically made every morning and it had a great kitchen. I watched amazing sun rises and the full moon rising on the other side of the bay. The pool has a fantastic view and it was great to take a dip and cool off. The staff were really friendly and the person managing the place while I was there was very helpful with suggesting places to visit and activities. It was truly a memorable time.
Loved the price Loved the views Loved the cleanliness You really can't beat the views and it is so inexpensive. The stairs do get tiring after a week. This is not the place for the inactive and a cab ride takes a while because of the road. There are 2 restaurants at the bottom of the stone staircase (170 stairs). They are both good but the one NOT on the ocean side is better and cheaper.
Difficult to communicate with staff Far away from everything Beds are very hard The road in front of the hotel is under construction and is loose gravel. They are putting in a water line. Looks like it will be torn up for most of April. Very rough cab ride...but once that road is done, it will definitely help the hotel.
Road under construction which hotel had no control
We spent two weeks here in March and had a wonderful stay. We had the best view of the bay and enjoyed watching all of the daytime activety and the breathtaking views in the evening. Eduardo and his staff were exceptional and cared for all our needs during our stay. We would definitely stay here again. Bob & Kathy Regina,Sask. Canada Doug & Linda Martensville, Sask. Canada
The extra stairs were definitely a challenge but the exercise was great the pool much more refreshing.
the location, and the staff, very clean, there are stairs to walk into town, that are great workout
bring beach towels, and a clock, wash cloths,
The staff were exceptional, the views just stunning, the accommodation very spacious with huge windows, the pool area was lovely, wifi worked very well. There are many long term and repeat guests. The hotel is very well maintained and any issues are immediately dealt with. There are only 12 apartments (rooms). Taxi cabs are cheap, if you are not up to climbing the long set of stairs back up to the hotel.
Oh, those stairs, but this is the price of the view and taxis are cheap
Eduardo the owner was very gracious. His manager Romaldo deserves our heartfelt high praise for personally attending to our requests. He is one exceptional man, and such a conscientious, hard worker! His follow through was flawless throughout our stay, up to having an employee available to assist us for our 6am departure. Our sincere thanks to Romaldo for his great help!
The view was very nice, rooms were large with a balcony. It was quiet. Close to town, if you don't mind stairs.
The room did show some wear.
The suite was gorgeous. The best view. The kitchen complete. We loved the jacuzzi! The room was always picked up daily and very clean, thanks.
The stairs to the villas. Could have had some basic seasonings. Salt and pepper. Instead of calling on phone, the manager could have personal contact.
The view was amazing. Everything is so well cared for, which made for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The moment we have another opportunity to return we will not hesitate.
Location was perfect for us. After 5 nights in town near La Madera, this was the "retreat" from our vacation. Villas el Morro is the highest up the hill and has an incredible view of the bay, the three beaches and the town. Faces sunrise. We got moved to the "Bay of Zihua" suite due to overbooking and just wow. We will ask for that suite next time, it will be worth the money! If you want the best view, great staff, quiet "seclusion" but still close to conveniences, Villas el Morro is for you.
If you can't climb 6 stories of stairs, this isn't for you. If you want to be on the beach, not for you. If you want to be in town, not for you. No roomservice Tiny Ants. A splash of bleach and not leaving food out kept this to a non issue. Wifi works on the deck but dropped in some places of he suite.
Staff was incredible - very friendly and helpful. View is terrific. Facility is very comfortable
Wi-fi was flaky in our room. Others didn't have the same trouble.
