The surrounding environment.
Uniqueness, staying in part of history. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good but a bit more pricey than in town. Relaxing view from our room. Enjoyed our resident cat and the other well behaved cats at Bon Ton. Very relaxed, laid back resort.
No shuttle to town as advertised, though we were given a lift on our first day.
The concept behind bon ton; Heritage coupled with charity to animals. Setting is also most tranquil and soothing to the eyes and soul.
Alot of dust and droppings. And very surprised that there are no more complimentary evening cocktails anymore despite booking.com's write up/advertisement
This is a real treat - very unusual; what you see is what you get kind of place! The 'breakfast' items left in the fridge every night are just beautiful - the bread is fabulous and there are 'treats' as well, which rarely made it to breakfast. Food in the restaurant is also wonderful - I would have loved to be there for another few days to try more of it. Staff are lovely - very efficient but not in your face. I had a lovely relaxed couple of days and would definitely go back.
The environment, nature, proximity to main town (Cenang) by car. Service of staff and their flexibility (shower at 5pm at day of check-out is no problem).
Beautiful houses, fantastic food and all the home comforts you could need (including a cat) Have already booked my return visit.
Acommodation (temple tree) lovely houses
Too many cats for my cat-phobic partner.
Stayed in white frangipani. ambience, gives a very nice rustic feeling from the stony interiors in the other 5 star hotels. 20 mins walk to the main market. Our host had been excellent in giving out details.
AC's could have been a bit strong in the living room. Felt very warm sometimes. fans should also have been provided near the kitchen area and sink.
Lovely environment, very peaceful, it's a good relaxing spot, quiet. I really like the fact that I can walk their dogs, and pet the cats. Another good thing is they actually support animal rescue centre. As a vegetarian, I very much support a resort like that.
1. Towels are not clean, they are actually stained. 2. Lizards will be around if you leave your sweet things out. 3. Not good in preparing meals for those who has special diet requirements, this upset me because I actually emailed and stated them down way before I arrived in two months ago, and confirmed it before I arrived.
The houses are stunning. This a a unique place to stay and so much nicer than the mega-resorts that are ruining Langkawi. It was a bit above our budget but we're so glad we spent the extra and stayed here. The photos we've got of these place alone made it worth the money. A word for the guys in Temple Tree next door who were really great to us and did us some lovely meals. Highly recommended...
It's quite a long walk from the beach, having said that a shuttle is offered. I don't mind cats but would say that there are alot of them about and this isn't for people who don't like animals. The dog sanctuary is quite noisy and I witnessed one particularly troublesome dog attacking a member of staff in reception which is something that shouldn't be happening in any hotel, let alone one as expensive as this. I was really glad that my wife (who is afraid of dogs) wasn't with me at the time...
Friendly family feel. Excellent food. Lovely setting. Staff excellent.
Would have benefitted from more information about the place on arrival - only on last day realised there was a lounge we could use. Problem with Bats in ceiling - appreciate all wildlife and the beauty of the natural site, but for price we were paying it was very upsetting for one member of our group to be sleeping under bats and subsequently covered in their droppings in the morning - a shame as otherwise loved the place! Think breakfast might have been better served in beautiful open dining area - not ideal in a villa without the usual 'kitchen' facilities.
Wifi failed in the room
The accommodation is unusual in that it is all relocated Malay traditional wooden houses. The restaurant, staff and atmosphere are excellent and each house has it's own 'house-cat' from the cat rescue centre. Each house has Aircon, mosquito nets, tea making comfy chairs etc. The staff are really helpful and genuinely friendly. Get the staff to organise the hire of a car for you it is cheaper that the airport. The pool is well maintained and clean and there are both social and quiet areas to sit in the public part of the resort. There is a well stocked and reasonably priced tourist shop that definitely does not keep a set of pot ducks or saucy post-cards!
We did not ask how to reach the nearby beach and as a result didn't go!
Beautiful looking resort, lovely malay style houses in a relaxed environment
Not good if you are looking for any luxuries, and at these prices I would suggest you are. The style of the rooms create most of the issues, the air con simply does not work as the floor boards and walls are full of gaps and holes so therefore no room to cool down, the floors are highly unstable and rock the whole room when ever you walk, the roof and air con both leak especially during rain events wetting your clothes and luggage. The nature of the walls is like living in a tent so the near by rooms can hear everything, snoring, coughing, talking etc.... The property is full of cats and at first thought this to be a nice thing until they urinate under or in your room then an overwhelming smell of cat urine consumes your room. The breakfast is very confusing, stale bread and fruit left in your room the night before, I assume because it costs too much to open up the restaurant which is by the way great. All in all I assume this would appeal to others but not us, for the price of over 1000rm you can get some seriously luxurious accom on the island and this is not one of them.
The concept of the villas was great. Restaurant and pool areas were gorgeous, staff were very nice.
For the price we paid I expected the inside of the villas, especially the bathrooms to be of a better quality. The villa design is cute but it's just not the sort of accommodation you could relax in. Also the animal situation was a bit out of control, there were cats literally everywhere you turned, coming into your villa as soon as you opened the door, sitting next to you in the restaurant. I like cats but it was personally too much for me.
Full of character, each house is individual and authentic. The food was terrific, especially at lunch, and the staff attentive. The shower was great - luxurious but rustic at the sane time - and the garden great for looking out at the birds and, once, a buffalo, by the lily pond and reed bed. Involvement in ethical and charitable projects was also a plus.
Not keen on the cats, but appreciate that the place is linked with a sanctuary project. Mosquito nets round the bed couldn't be secured properly.
Style of the arrangement of the traditional houses
Those houses are nicely decorated but difficult to maintain. While the overall cleanliness (floor, beds) was ok, it is very difficult to clean all areas. And we had a lot of insects specifically cockroaches visiting us. We believe the place is a bit over the top as far as value for money is concerned
A VVIP Welcom during check in.. Very typical malay tradisional kampung hse..good experience to my.. so call modern kids..hvg very healty cat.. minggle in the house..excellent facilities for mosquito problem at night...just saw a dog in the kitchen. .others very excellent .tqvm
Maybe breakfast can have a wider choice of food.
Charming setting of kumpong houses in a rustic environment. Extremely relaxing for a morning breakfast in the garden. Local disk in the restaurant is good.
Nothing, but the weather is hot!
pretty villa, good food, and good cocktails
breakfast are toasts and yogurts which is a bit on the lazy side, as they have kitchen, probably just not at work in the morning.
staying in the old malasian houses
We loved the presence of the animals which made us feel like home. The characters of each individual bungalows was awesome and the staff was always smiling and ready to help. A place we will always remember.
Rustic. If you're looking for a full service resort, go elsewhere. Very beautiful. Peaceful. Great food
