Good location, close to center
The room headed to main street and therefore noisy
Good location, clean room, accommodating staff.. value for money. ^^
Friendly staff. Good location. Value for money.
excellent location, nice staff
the blanket is very thin, just like a sheet; the wall is thin too, can hear the rrom next door
excellent location, nice staff
dirty toilets and washrooms, thin blankets, thin walls, noisy at night
Location was good, close to restaurants, shops and Sunday market. Staff helped book taxis for us.
We had poor nights sleep here due to the noise from other guests. The walls are thin allowing noise through and one sitting area was outside our room, making it noisier. Some of the noise was down to guests who were using a hair dryer at 3:30am outside our room. Perhaps a sign for quiet between 10pm and 7am would be helpful.
Stuffs there are really kind and helpful. The location is very nice, only one block from Gaya street. Getting to malls in less than 10 min.
A little bit noisy in the room near the street.
The location was quite good, although KK is quite small so most of the places will be centrally located. Shower was nice with hot water. There was a communal computer to use.
Compared to other hostels this one really wasn't great. Our room was Tiny, just room for a bed and a bit of floor space and the window let out to the stairwell so we heard people traipsing up and down the stairs all night. The floor was not so clean and it is required to take off your shoes so your feet get quite dirty which isn't so nice after a shower. Breakfast, if I can call it that, was quite horrible. When I asked where breakfast would be I was literally pointed to a bag of limp white bread and a toaster! Needless to say we decided to pass and went elsewhere to eat. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place, it has potential but the staff needs to be friendlier and a bit more effort needs to be spent on making it a worthwhile option. My suggestion- go to Masada Backpackers! It is just down the street and so much nicer for a comparable price.
Hot water, nice staff
Noise from the street
the location was great - easy to walk to everywhere I wanted to go.
my room was ok but on the road side and traffic was extremely noisy! Also my pillow was so hard I couldn't use it.
It was very laud. The "window" was to the hallway and it wad really not a tradicional window so it was very dark. Also the owner was not especially nice like was in other backpackers hostels. Breakfast is a joke :-)
Room was clean, shower facilities as well, it was cosy. There was a kitchen and a sitting area with books available. For one night transiting in KK was a perfect stay. They have a nice coffee place downstairs.
Borneo backpackers offers a basic but good accomodation and is situated in the centre of KK. Touroperators, shops, restaurants and bars are all on short walking distance. The price is extremely reasonable if you consider the clean accomodation you get, hot showers, location, friendly staff who is not to intervienant, also included is a basic breakfast and drinking water. Via borneo backpackers you can order a few excursions however their options are not so diverse, the staff is not well informed about the specificities of those excursions. Better go to the touroperators (5min walking) and compare them because they all offer similar excursions but the prices can vary a lot. The ambiance in borneo backpacker is laidback, there is also a cosy bar-restaurant-museum beneath, called borneo 1945.
Mutuel respect is needed as walls are thin but no problems experienced on this point.
white box room no character
huge cockroaches in my room
I like the facilities there..and the staff too..
I think nothing..
No blankets. Hard pillows.
They have a friendly pet cat. Good location in city centre. Free toast and tea/coffee for breakfast.
Only one shower out of four actually had decent pressure and hot water.
A friendly and welcoming hostel which did the job for a stay in Kota Kinabalu. Basic rooms, wifi and kitchen facilities is all you need and the staff are reserved but super friendly and more than willing to help you out!
dirty rooms and bathrooms (especially 2nd floor), old sheets and nasty soiled mattresses/pillows.
