Bunga Raya Island Resort & Spa    

The room and bathroom is spacious, the jetty area is very beautiful. The staffs are very nice and helpful. Surrounding area is nice and peaceful

Some of the fittings in the room is broken. The beach was quiet dirty, but the staff did their best to clean up the beach and surrounding water, maybe the water washed the rubbish from somewhere else. Some part of the concrete road is broken

The staff were very welcoming, always smiling, made us feel very welcome. The even had de-caf coffee brough in especially. Lovely rooms, great view of the bay from ours. Great food, overall a nice quiet getaway.

Unfortunately they have a small problem with rubbish washing up on their beach. When the weather is particularly windy it seems to collect in the bay and on the beach. It is not there all the time, but we saw how quickly the beach went from beautifully clean and clear to full of rubbish. Obviously they don't have much control over this though.

The staff always made sure we had all we needed. The resort's private beach is exquisite and has a snorkeling trail for its clients. They also have a nice trekking path with a nice view of the tropical forest (an employee will take you there complimentarily). The spa was amazing as they have well trained professionals taking care of you. The shuttle boat runs pretty much on demand and is very convenient to go to the other resort (Gayana) or Kota Kinabalu. There are wild animals such as monkeys,boars and more,living on the hotel's property that you can watch (and they won't attack of course). The hotel staff is doing all they can to preserve the natural habitat of the resort and it can look like you live in a tropical forest. Baggy's running on demand in case of lazyness. Big variety of tours and activities outside the resort such as visiting Borneo's natural reserve of even going to Brunei.

Thought everything was pretty much great,the hot water in the bungalows doesn't last too long. There's dirt coming from the sea in certain hours (depending on the season).

The resort was situated in a 5 star location. The resort itself was very well kept, clean and the beaches were beautiful. Staff were very friendly and exceptionally nice. Food was tasty and well served.

Service was not the greatest. Roos weren't cleaned on time. We would have to repeatedly call someone to clean our room. The service at the restaurant was disorganized. Different waiters would take our order, and bring our meal and it made for a lot

This would have been a 5 star rating if not for the points here: 1) The hotel needs to be more organized. We had arranged for 2 activities but both were late for an hour,and quite a bit of waiting for services. Staff seemed to be too busy to remember errands as they were too busy, in consuderation the villa we booked is more expensive than an Executive Suite at ShangriLa. 2) The food is good quality but choice of restaurants are limited even when we added the restaurants of Guyana Eco for our stay of 3 nights. 3) For some reason the villas have open showers and windows which allow critters like mosquitoes and sandflies to come in. Although the blend w nature is appreciated it certainly does not hurt to let the guests choose by adding a mosquito netting seasealed

A great place for a relaxing holiday. The most beautiful beach and clear blue waters for snorkelling. The staff were very helpful and always on hand with a golfing buggy to bring us around the resort. Also really enjoyed trip to Gayana Eco Resort and the marine life centre there. And enjoyed the free cocktail before dinner every evening- a good way to get people out and about.

Food was hit and miss- some great food but skip berry cheesecake at Koi restaurant (incredibly chewy for some reason) and beware some very,very undercooked poached eggs in the Koi breakfast.

Nice beach, good place to relax after travelling/exploring Sabah before returning home. Nice that guests can use both facilities (Bunga Raya and its mother hotel the Gayana Eco Resort).

Compared to other top-end restaurants in Sabah and Malaysia, the main restaurant is way too expensive for what it offers. Hotel staff is friendly and shows high motiviation, however, lacks often in professionalism (E.G. English skills at reception). Hotel was only half full when we were there. Doubt that staff could handle all guests professionally and in reasonable time when hotel is full.

The hotel was situated in an amazing natural rainforest setting with private beach. The rooms were large and modern and were situated apart from each other so you can get the sense of privacy. The staff was friendly and wellcoming, they did our stay really special. The beach and swimming pool were great, and the spa was quite good as well.

The biggest dissappointment was the food. The hotel restaurant was serving "fast-food" type of food which is something completely innappropriate for a 5 star resort of this type. Same goes for the breakfast and bar coctails. Overall the quality of the food and drinks was substandard.

The location was one of the most beautiful I have seen after 21 years holidaying and living in Asia.

The food was the worst I have ever tasted in any hotel in 21 years in Asia. It was shocking - the ingredients (mear, chicken) and we were left to go off menu (a griled chicken breast) and avoidwhat was on the menu which they could not cook. The place was infested with sand flies, and whilst not their fault, neither did they wrn guests, and so many guests where coveredhead to foot in red, itchy bites that scared and lasted over a week. Many guests moaned. I would not go back.

Выбор блюд в ресторане оставляет желать лучшего. После 16-00 на пляже появляются мелкие мошки, укусы долго не заживают и репелленты от них не спасают.

Wunderschöne Anlage mitten im Dschungel, sehr gepflegt, unglaublich freundliche Staff. Die Villen sind sehr authentisch in die Natur integriert, z.T. allerdings etwas dunkel. Ein Paradies für Hibiskus-Liebhaber (Bunga Raya = Hibiskus)

房间的泳池只比浴缸大一点，各方面都很陈旧，谈不上一点豪华，除了收费。这样的酒店在普吉或巴厘不会超过两- 千。

吃饭没有中文菜单。。。品种不多.口味一般。价格偏高。

Very expensive if compared with facilities provided. Food very expensive at resort and very limited options.

The manager was very helpful. The boat to get to the island was very nice. The staff are very helpful.

Service at the restaurant was not good - it always took ages to receive our order. The spa is not well-equipped; no towels in the bathroom, and our reservations were also mixed up. Food at breakfast was not very good.

Perfect paradise! Perfect place for a first dive with divemaster nelson.

Excellent location. It's fair to say this hotel is located in one of the best places in Kota Kinabalu. This is in the largest island of the 5 islands in a national park; the water is clear and we found a lot of fishes. Also the facility is reasonably good for this sort of resort hotel.

While the staffs are all good and nice people, they are not trained enough to provide the sort of service that we expect from a five star resort hotel. They are slow in responding and weak in understanding the customer's real need. Drinks and food often take 20-30 mins and the requests are poorly executed. This can be improved if they would have a skilled manager who can teach them what they have to do. We guess they don't know the level of service that the customers of this kind of hotel experienced and expect. But again, they are nice and good people. We love them and appreciate their kindness. This hotel has high potential that has not been materialised.
