At night after 11pm no staff at lobby. Only one guard man taking care of hotel. No reception . No outcall phone can be made . Something very strange as it is supposingly quite expensive hotel compared to other hotels in George town area

Very beautiful rooms! Very very freindly and obliging stuff. We got a lot of information about the city and places to visit (and good locations for food too) from the stuff! Breakfast was very good too!

Aircondition a bit noisy.

I like how it kept the Penang feel to the maximum!

The staffs are not that great in terms of food catering.

The hotel is in an old Chinese town-house, well refurbished to the most exigent standards of modern life, yet maintaining the spirit of the old house. Everything beautifully arranged with gusto! Very friendly and helpful staff. We loved it!!!

Perfect for discovering the old city People kind and full of info (since arrival) on the visits, retaurants,.... Very nice rooms with all amenities Superb breakfast!

Everything - a superb place with a delightful ambience and perfectly situated in the centre of Penang. Nespresso machinesin rooms an added bonus.

Good location in a beautiful old building lovingly restored with great attention to detail. Our hosts and all their staff were attentive, knowledgable, welcoming.

Hosts were very welcoming and staff were helpful and experienced. Rooms very tastefully decorated. Breakfast excellent. Location excellent , walking distance to all of inner Georgetown

Rooms were double glazed to keep out road noise which was good but no allowance for opening shutters meant rooms are very dark.

The little surprises we find in the fridge after a long day out in the sun, the excellent location, the comfort in the room, the tasteful decor, the consistent efforts made by some of the staff members to ensure that we were well taken care of.

Some of the staff members might require more training in terms of etiquette.

What's not to like? A very friendly reception is followed by a thorough explanation of the best sites to see and the best places to eat. The room is impeccabel, decorated with great taste and attention to the smallest detail. There's a library with books and dvd's and a roof terrace. Good beds, excellent breakfast. Great people, great place.

Having to leave after 4 nights...

Design and attn to detail - amazing given this price level. Better than almost every 5 star hotel in Thailand. Service good, too.

Great place to stay. Nardya and Roberto are amazing hosts, the rooms are lovely and the nooks and crannies are delightful too (the library and the roof terrace). The location is perfect for wandering round the historic streets of Georgetown, following the trail of murals/wall art. We all really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

Doubtless a highlight in Penang! Goregeous rooms and a wonderful restaurant with excellent wines from Siciliy (at affordable prices)! We ended up with a bottle of wine every night and it just felt great! If you are there you should also do the combined heritage and food tour with Joanna! There is no better way to explore the history and the thousand tastes of Penang!!

Don't worry, this place is just great!

Utterly faultless. The hotel is smack bang in the middle of Georgetown, and is in a beautifully restored colonial building. The rooms are gorgeous - everything you would want from a boutique hotel and yet still managing to balance traditional and modern so well. The breakfast is really good, and the Italian restaurant is also great. However, Nadia and Roberto (the owners) make this place special. They are one of the nicest couples we have ever stayed with. They go out of their way to be helpful and are so welcoming and friendly. Penang is not the normal place to spend a bit of your honeymoon, but these guys just made it that bit more perfect. I simply cannot pick a single problem with this place as it is such good value for money too.

the well furnished rooms

Campbell House is a very pleasant small hotel located in the heritage area of Georgetown, in easy walking distance of many of the main places of interest. The owners Nadia and Roberto are extremely friendly and welcoming, and helpful in providing information about places worth visiting and how to get there, good places to eat and any other information you may need, as are all the staff. The hotel itself is an older building that has been tastefully refurbished to a very high standard. The integral Italian restaurant is a nice place to sit, for meals, or to catch up on your emails or while away some time in the evening. I would certainly stay there again.

Everything. Lovely owners and staff were all so helpful - especially as due to a very long train journey, arriving 6 hours late in the early hours of the morning, a little personal itinerary was suggested for us which meant we could see Georgetown in all of the hour we had available! So friendly and with a very personal touch. The hotel is a beautiful building, furnished so well. A delightful but all too short stay.

the presence of a nespresso in the room is great. But I like tea, and i have to remember to use the machine for tea BEFORE I make coffee.... small problem
