Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers, the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples, such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng, sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

Local Souvenir stalls were not fairly treated, and the shops was not given fair chances to be visited and appreciated by all tourist local and foreign alike. If only the distribution cakes fairly opened up, perhaps buyers and customers from abroad as well as locals can be exposed to better offers and competitive chances from souvenirs sellers in the overall atmosphere.

The city is clean and offer a number of interesting tourist attractions and variety of food outlets. Jonker walk, Melaka river cruise and Malaysia Heritage studio and Kg Morten are few places worth putting on visitor’s list. However, I think the Malaysia heritage studio seems somewhat lacking the truly Malaysian heritage as visitors are greeted by the wax statues of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Mr Bean wearing local costumes. We enjoyed visiting some of the traditional houses, but there are some that were disappointing (eg Rumah pahang, terengganu, johor). The performance was fun and enjoyable.
There are a number of museums and historical buildings that
look interesting too nearby Jonker walk.

Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Besides being a heritage city it was alive and bustling with excitement at every corner - like walking the streets of Paris.
I loved the river ride at night. Makes one feel like you on the Venice waters ( just not a clean river ).
Their souvenir photos were however very expensive and the tour recording was not clearly understood .
The Melaka Straits mosque was really special.
I would definitely like to be back.
Lots of bargain shopping 🛍️

Navigation around the city is very comfortable with Grab service. Foods are everywhere. People are friendly and no harm for visitors. Clean and well-maintained cities and shopping centers at most places visited.
1) Car park just in front of the door(if you stayed in ground floor room)
2)The location is VERY CLOSE to MANY attractive places nearby even Malacca town itself took about 20-30 minutes driving(depend on traffic)
3)There are a lots of food truck outside this premise EVERY NIGHT which they called "Leypak".So you are not worry about dinner or whatsoever at night.
The in room facilities considered good but please don't compared with 4@5 star hotel. We satisfied as it is. Maybe can improve
the room was very clean and the sheets were super crisp and freshly pressed :) clearly it was freshly prepared just for the new customer and not recycled like some other hotels:) the vibe of the hotel is very pleasant, jovially bright and visually stimulating with aesthetic paintings places on the wall and minimalist furnitures:) I really appreciate the Malacca traditional aspects it tried to emulate from those intricate flowery tiles it chose on the corridors leading to our rooms:)
Well excellent location. . I did not opt for the breakfast after viewing. Frankly not that great of a spread.
Anyway, Malaysia is known for its traditional local delights. Hence stepping out for breakfast always brings the excitement to another level.
Bayview Hotel staff was very personal and obliging. In a nutshell, you can just seek clarification as many times as possible and they don't waver in their response.
The locality is the best. Just a few steps away from the car park is jonker street. In fact the buildings along the road in front of the hotel offers so much of world heritage to the tourists. St. Paul Hill, Stadthuys building, A formosa and Malacca River are just within walking distance. Tourists can get almost everything in 5km radius.
P/s: The stuffs are polite, very friendly and informative.
It was a perfect stay. Plenty of parking space, not too crowded. Well-mannered customer service. Will definitely come and stay here if we come to Malacca. Spacious room with a good view. Even though the building may look old fashioned, I can say that the interior design was acceptable. Overall, good, satisfied and worth every penny. Thumbs up, Bayview Hotel Melaka.
The Room is spacious, and the view from the balcony is marvelous. I requested a high-floor room, and the hotel management fulfilled it. I love the panoramic view from the 30th floor, whereby I have a 360-degree view of Malacca. I will come again, surely. The best hotel I have ever stayed in, Malacca. Surrounding the hotel are a lot of eateries easy-to-find food.
The hotel looks new and very clean. Staff are friendly and always answer our queries with smile and courteous. The location isn't too crowded. Can reach city centre and tourist spots within 10 minutes of walking. The historical well, Malacca riverside near Kg Melayu and the Shore is accessible nearby. Non halal eateries/food court is right in front.
Truly cherish the Malaccan hospitality, friendly & warm staff. Appreciate the extra mile they went to make my overnight stay as pleasant as possible. The city view from the 22nd floor was breathtaking. Buffet breakfast spread was sumptuous -- only wished the hotel had served Melaka's Asam Pedas.
The hotel is really nice overall, and the cafe has free tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits for nibbles. Filtered hot and cold water readily available. Location is ok as it will take you 15-20mins walk to Jonker Market. But driving is 10-15min as most roads are one way Malacca.
The design and the interior decorations of the hotel and room are cozy and warm, projecting an ambience of friendliness and comfort. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended to stay in this hotel which is a short distance from the key places of interest of Malacca.
Spacious room, It was a wonderful view especially at night & sunset, staff were all helpful and friendly, delicious food all around town, & smooth check in and check outs. Room is clean and aircond is super cold. One of the best hotels in Malacca. I had a great time here!
The hotel is located in Malacca centre. It is very cosy and warm. The staff are warm and friendly. The room is tastefully renovated to meet the needs of the client s. It will be good if the WiFi networks is more stable.
A big thank you to the hotel management.
I love the panoramic view of Strait of Malacca from hotel window. On good days you can see few ships pass through.
Its walking distance to Sopping complexes and eateries. This time around I did not eat at hotel's food outlet.
Im malaccan. I stay whenever i come hometown coz now i live in KL. So location wise okay. About the room n services. Not as good as they were in the beginning. Now i think twice before booking.
The hotel is very clean and recommended for those who wish to walking distance to Jonker walk and enjoy the malacca river with cruise. Only takes 10 minutes walking. Quiet environment as well.
Hotel Puri is well-located near the Jonkers Walk area which is the heritage heart of Malacca and near some great eateries, good shopping and cool cafes. The breakfast quality has improved.
location is very convenient and room is very clean and very comfortable, even better than some of the hotels we have stayed in Malacca, smart tv is a nice addition
