The beautifully appointed room, the Location, the staff and those wonderful breakfasts in Sarkies restaurant. Just fabulous!
There is nothing to dislike.

Breakfast Bed Room Shower Access
Public areas too cold
Loved the service and helpfulness of staff. Close to everything in Georgetown and it had a perfect swimming pool to cool down at the end of the day. Elegant and modern, and having access to tea and coffee all day was fabulous, in the lounge.
Our kids weren't on the same floor as us, even though we had asked in our booking. It wasn't a true negative…it gave us peace as well! Our kids are young adults!
The room... The cleanliness... The view from room... And everything!
The lounge could have served light snacks through out the day
We stayed at Victory Annex. Love the seaview from the balcony. Room is spacious and clean. The room was clean up at least twice a day. Don't know whether it is fixed 2 clean up per day or is as and when needed, but each clean up session they will replenish and change those used towel. It was a surprise when the staff sent a birthday cake to our room (I think they knew it's my hubby birthday as I did mentioned when I made this booking, but didn't aspect they will send cake). Overall, loved the stay!!
Perhaps they need to improve on their room soundproofing as I can hear people from next door closing the door or using the bathroom or etc.
Staying at the old wing of the E&O takes one back in time. The new wing blends very well with the old. We had a pleasant 2 nights stay there. Our room was huge! Breakfast was a good mix of local and western. We enjoyed walking in the garden fronting the sea and exploring the hotel. Yes, this hotel is filled with history and character. From the chandelier to the light switches in the room to the cannons in the garden and many more - history is alive in this hotel.
E&O could do with better and more comfortable beds, pillows and quality toiletries.
Sea view from the swimming pool.
The service at Planters Lounge - 6th floor of new wing. At Planters Lounge: The Char Keow Teow taste terrible. Penang is famous it's Char Keow Teow. Coffee machine milk taste sour. Need to remind the staffs to refill coffee machine water and had to wait for 15 mins for this to be done!!
We loved everything about the E&O Hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel breakfast is nice and the staff were friendly. LOVE!
the room and facilities are great
the F&B is ok but spotty and needs improvement-
The courtesy of staffs Ambience All the small little things like welcome cocktail, cold refreshing towel, all the classic amenities & features
Not much exciting things for kids
The corner suite in the new building is really amazing
They need a new F and B manager for sure, not that the food is bad, just it is average mostly, some really bad, and way too expensive, not what I would expect from such a great place otherwise
Very good rooms, particularly enjoyed the pool on the 6th floor
Many of the staff were excellent, however this was patchy, a large number seemed disinterested, no particular area, almost every section had some of this, pool staff, restaurant staff, concierge and door staff. If you could fix this it would be good
Location was excellent hotel comfortable
Wireless connection slow
Fabulous building and staff. Rooms in Victory Annexe are not quite as large as the Heritage Annexe and lack a nice sitting room, but all rooms have a magnificent sea view and are very clean and well-appointed. The breakfasts cater to a wide selection of tastes and are lovely in the seaside courtyard. The afternoon refreshments are a very nice touch too. Georgetown highlights (Chinatown, Little india, The Colonial area around the Fort) are a short stroll away and Kontar is an interesting 15-20 minute walk away.
Very little to not like. The Victory Annexe rooms lack comfortable seating for a couple. There is only one comfortable chair other than sitting on the bed. The coffee comes from a machine which is disappointing in a fine hotel like this one.
Quaint and Comfortable
E&O is perhaps SE Asias finest hotel. We stayed at the Victory annexe which is the new wing of the hotel. Still, feeling "vintage" and stylish. Staff is very knowledgeable and professional. From Mr. Dean who will make your stay at the Victory annexe comfortable and smooth, to Mr. Kelimuthu at Sarkie's restaurant who showcased the local cuisine to us. Ms. Marelene at the hotel's museum took her time to present the history of E&O Hotel and interesting tidbits from it's history - true movie material. The Victory Annexe's butler, Mr. Faizal, is a competent and professional gentleman who elevated our stay in George Town. Great advice for food and sights helped us discover the pearl of Malaysia and it's rich offer. We also recommend mr. Gopal, one of the hotel's drivers. He took us around the town and has lots of local knowledge, and great humor. We will definitely call for Mr. Gopal's services when we return. Lovely hotel, sea view, décor, pool area, comfortable bed and room. Nothing to change, because this hotel has achieved perfection.
Slow wi-fi connection poolside.
Room (in annex) was large, beautiful, very comfortabl, and clean, with balcony facing the sea. Huge bathroom, with two separate sink areas and good-sized closets. Pool and surrounding shaded areas were amazing and never crowded. Breakfast included offered large selection, and it was nice to eat outside in the morning before it got too hot. If you like large classic hotels, this is a great choice (and would recommend the annex rooms over the original).
Location is fine, but not in direct center of Georgetown heritage area. Tradeoff to be right on water. We split our time in Georgetown between this hotel and a boutique hotel on edge of Little India, so we got to have two different experiences. Breakfast could have included more local choices (mostly Western fare).
Style of the hotel and the view .clean hotel with good breakfast.
Couldn't have late checkout thought they helped in storing my luggage
We loved everything about the E&O. I've had the pleasure of staying in some fine hotels all over the world and I rate the E&O highly. There's none finer in Penang or Malaysia.
Infinity pool and club lounge on the 6th floor.
Staff were really attentive and accommodating when we asked for a quieter room.
