Loved he atmosphere and the pool on the ground floor. This hotel is the perfect reason to return to George Town. I would love to stay there again
We stayed in one other Writers Suites - Rudyard Kipling. It was a bit dark in the living room - that's our only note to the management.
Central location to the quaint old city of Georgetown
Evening cocktail hours at Planter's Longe was too short, ie just 1 hour from 6-7pm. When the new wing first opened, the hours were from 5-7pm.
Space of room Comfortable bed and bathroom Good food
Restaurant service can be more attentive.
The food was great
My bed was covered by the blanket all the time. But when I pulled the blanket out when I went to sleep, I found that the sheet and the mattress were damp. Either bad house-keeping or something very strange had happened, neither of which was what I expected. I shortened my stay the next day. No question asked. Obviously, I was not the first one.
Everything, there wasn't a bad point my wife and I could find with it.
This hotel deserves to be rated as five star. There is nothing to fault. The staff are the best I have ever come into contact with and our stay here was so good, we would not consider another hotel in Penang.
Twins bed are a bit smaller compare to others hotel. Other than that, nothing to be complaint.
Nice hotel, but if you are after old world charm, avoid the Victory Annex. Can't really fault this part of the hotel, but it's an upmarket bed factory run as an adjunct to the older property.
I lost my purse and it was handed in . Amazing
Everything was wonderful. An elegant, historic hotel in a beautiful location. Our room overlooking the sea in the Victoriy Annexe was lovely. The Sarkies Brothers, who built this hotel, Raffles in Singapore & the Strand in Yangon among others, really knew elegance and design. The staff were anxious to help In any way. The breakfast buffet was infinite in choice and the chefs were wonderful. They offered so many different opportunities to taste Peranakan, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Japanese and North American foods. The Club level for evening hors d'oeuvres was pleasant. What more could you want?
Excellent suite Very comfortable bed Walking distance from old part of city Executive lounge is great for breakfast and early evening drinks
Restaurant on ground floor of new wing was noisy and crowded over CNY
Really great hotel one of the best I have ever stayed in. Staff were helpful without being over the top. Rooms excellent. Not in centre of town but short taxi or walk. Great free drinks and food 6 till 7. Loved the Farquar bar.
Nothing at all
Exellent view!!!Clean and comfortable!!!Great services and the breakfast is nice.
Our balcony overlooking the sea
No mirror close to a plug socket, so it was almost impossible to use the hairdryer
Do not believe the Bookings.com comment that the price you select is all you pay. No only did we pay the booking.com price we were hit with surcharges and taxes - Not happy Staff are not up to the quality of other 4 or 5 star motels Afternoon tea was a bit disappoint
Biggest bathroom I've experienced so far. Excellent hotel. Nice infinity pool on the 6.th flor in the new building. Excellent location.
A bit noisy, but that might as well be attributed to Chinese New Year celebrations as well as the hotel.
the service and food
The rooms were beautifully furnished, very spacious, beautiful bathroom. Highly recommended for romantic stay.
Pillows and bedding were a little uncomfortable.
This was our fourth stay and this hotel. Staff remember us and were very kind. The chefs cooked all breakfasts just for us and we were surprised everyday!
room design is great, with balcony, big bath room with bath tub and big mirror.
the mirror area is dark, hard for make up.
I have been to the E&O at least six Times. If I'm in Asia it's my home away from Home. The accommodation is tranquil, so is the Pool overlooking the Strait of Malacca. It's simply the Best.
Rooms are lovely. Especially love the lounge at the annexe by the sea. Walking distance to Georgetown area
Another person in our group had a bad experience with a rather rude staff at the lounge
1930s Ambience, the situation ,smiling staff ,beautiful accommodation and first class food ....a must if you are in Penang if only for one night ...this is how a hotel should be!
