Staff very friendly
Food overpriced Boat transfer way to expensive Villas need maintenance Lots of dead ants in bathroom
rooms excellent / clean and comfortable / his + hers sinks / almost sycophantic staff attention (also -ve) / lovely clean pool / facilities available
food wasn't amazing / for this price park fee and boat transport should be included in the overall price / awful mojito (but they changed it) / tours book up quickly and not flexible
There is a private beach which is really nice.
The shower in the bathroom is working with the air condition. You must turn on the air condition for whole day at 22 degree or lower in order to get hot water. If you fail to do so, you get no hot water at all. And the placing of the air condition is poor as well. You can feel the cool air blowing to your face while you are in your bed, and not sleeping well at night.
Very detail minded and friendly service. Sous Chef Mr. Xavier Chef is very nice to me. He knows I cant take most of the food thus he tailor made a special dinner for me which is very surprisingly tastely and not bored meal. The room is very clean and no insect not even mosquito....the swimming pool and the garden is gorgeous.
Love the friendly staffs and the desserts! I like how they dont just allow any people to enter cos its a private resort, so I felt safe and they have a private boat to send us to another beach :)
The wild boar scared us! Hahahaha! but its all good! No complaints! All good for the memories :D
Service and facilities 100%!
It is not a cheap place. I think that it could be a bit cheaper.
friendly staff, nice place with very long and beautiful swimming pool (in which you have bar!), very close from KKB, programme of the day(yoga, trekking etc were for free) was well organized. really loved that place
beer and food were a little bit too expensive
The hotel is fantastic as well as the service. The beach was beutiful quite and clean. Perfect for the baby
The only thing is that the facilities are not baby friendly. too many stairs and no ramps for strolers. The baby cot did not have a matress but a thin cover and my baby did not sleep well there.
Decor of the resort, daily activity program, service on arrival and departure
The hotel restaurant was very bad. The service was VERY slow and the food was not good at all. For breakfast we waited for 30 min for scrambled eggs... I tried the wagyu burger for lunch and was very dissapointed by the dry paddie. The surf and turf we had for dinner was just not appealing at all. The cost for the boat ride was highly overpriced and should be included in the price. Better information on the right port of departure for Gaya Island. We arrived at the airport and asked for a taxi to the Gaya Island port and was driven to Jesselton port.
the food coast is Exaggerated
The Resort are located in an island off Kota Kintabalu. On arrival you can see the other resort opposite. It's new and modern and offers many activities, also a private beach. it is very much jungle style than beach style.
The management is a little disorganised when guests are arrive at the same time. We had to wait for a long time before a room is alocated. The resort it too big, it should offer a golf car to take guests to their villa, especially in a very hot day.
We have good privacy while staying at Gaya Island Resort. It's close to the nature, leisure and the staff are friendly.
So exiting room and local area!
Very expensive menu and tours, with so low price/quality result.
It's a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beach and pool. The staff is very nice and helpful always friendly and in good mood. We also loved the architecture a lot!!!!
I was annoyed by paying constantly extras for example the boat transfer or nature walk, batik and for a local special night. The food was good but highly overpriced even if you like to try local dishes.
From the reception area at the harbour where we were welcomed with a complimentary lime sorbet, to the staff and facilities at the resort I can only rate this as being the best holiday hotel I have ever stayed at and a real treat to end our holiday in Borneo. Spent 5 relaxing days there.
Like other previous comments felt the compulsory extra of the cost of boat transfer was not only a bit steep but given there is no other way to access the resort should have been included in the cost.
spacious room. kind and nice staff.
I stayed at the resort with one female friend. To start, reception on the mainland was lovely. We were given lime sorbets while we waited for the boat. On arrival on the island we were greeted at the end of the jetty by 6 attentive staff. We were shown the choice of activities whilst we enjoyed our welcome drink. We signed up for yoga which was great- the facilities there are incredible. I'd id had longer I would have like to have made use of the spa. The infinity pool is perfect with many options of places to relax around it. The food is delicious and affordable. The room was beautiful, my favourite hotel room to date. Enormous bath with candles. The outdoor cinema is such a nice idea. Overall very relaxing and I can't wait to return.
It would be nice if the boat charge to get to and from the resort was included in the price since I can't see any other way of getting to the resort! Even if it made it a bit more expensive. I just don't like paying 'extras'. A boat scheduled at 5pm would be useful. Due to our flight time we just missed the 4pm and had to wait for the 6pm
Staffs very friendly and great services. You no need to care your baggage, they will take care your baggage all the way once you checked-in.
Shower hot water is connect with air condition running as the same system. If you not turn on the air condition then will no hot water to take a shower. Even you didn't turn off but change to high temperature. Very expensive for the transportation from city to the island round trip.
Comfortable bed , relaxing place for leisure
Overall quite expensive services ( food , transportation, spa)
The hotel was beautiful and the snorkelling you can do through the hotel is great
Very over priced, not sure it was that great for the money we paid. We had a 5 minute walk every morning to the breakfast hall as our villa was the furthest away
good rooms, good architecture, friendly staff
very limited food choice, highly overpriced food and additionals, weird and often changing procedures at dinner, not understandable high charges for boat shuttle if you can't keep the schedule (180 USD for 15 min ride), AC is linked with warm water! - no hot shower if you don't turn the room into a fridge, the sea is dirty and we got warned that we should not go in partly because of chemicals from the nearby resorts and ships, always big commercial ships crossing by
Jungle, setting of villas and puplic areas, employees always friendly and attentive, great view to the sea and mount Kinabalu.
We also eat one time in the Fishermans Cove. We had the impression (when doing the reservation as well as because of the dress code!) this is a superior restaurant. There is no doubt about, the fish was very tasty and the quality of the food was good! However, the presentation and availability of side dishes do not differ from the "puplic" restaurant downstairs.
I loved their "can do " attitude. The location and the rooms were beautiful. Sunrise was amazing.
food choices are a bit limited and quite expensive
Hotel's staffs were very friendly and nice. Rooms were very comfortable, clean and spacious. The location of the hotel in the island is good. The pool and gym are nice.
The hotel's beach it isn't very pretty at all, specially the sand. There is no much choices to eat, because the hotel has only one restaurant, and the food is pretty expensive not value for money. The transportation cost from the harbor to the hotel is very expensive.
