Wonderful staff!! Luxurious rooms! Free activities such as yoga, meditation, nature walks, snorkeling. Private location squeezed just between the beach and the jungle! One of the best places I've ever stayed!
Expensive boat transport to/from KK with no alternative! :-( No genuine Malay food. The Western food better than the Asian menue (homemade burger actually the only good dish we had during our stay) The Asian dishes far too adjusted to western style, really quite tasteless and bland, not living up at all to the otherwise very luxurious and nice place. Also, the dinner restaurant very large and noisy and not very cosy. I hope the hotel listens to this and improves, because it's sad that this otherwise wonderful place does not have good food and nice dinner surroundings which is so important for most people during holiday. The remote location also means that you really have NO alternative for dinner unless you take a very expensive taxi boat to KK!
You can do every thing or you can do nothing!:)
The staff were fantastic - the location was great if you want a relaxing time
Lack of information on having to book in advance for activities due to filling up and also no facility offered for young members who might want to do a more active sport of either jet ski or para gliding. Only stayed for 2 days as long enough for a relaxing time - would have been bored if stayed longer.
other than the food and transports, everything is great!
transport cost is way too high , food is not that great neither
Location Decoration Reception
Food was not good Too expensive for what you get
We have been fortunate to stay in resorts around the world and this hotel rivals all of the 5 stars we have traveled to. We fell in love with all of the staff. They were incredible and we plan to return based on our experience. We were only disappointed it was 2 short of a stay. I had looked at 2 other resorts in the same area and am thrilled that we chose Gaya Island Resort.
The location and the staffs are the best. It's convenient for us to go there, and the staffs, they are always with the smile, provide all they can do to meet your needs, even some seems not so reasonable. I love it!
Excellent private beach. Good service.
Breakfast, great private beach, excellent rooms
Airco and water heater linked, expensive food (compared to the quality), poor diving options
Location Private beach Staff
Food wasn't the best Parasols kept falling over with winds and hit partner in shoulder- not secure enough Quite a walk to villa
Beautiful location Great food Luxury villas Stunning views
Drinks are quite expensive but you get what you pay for
The resort was amazing, staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are immaculate and the beds are extremely comfortable.
There was not a wide selection of food available for evening meals. Breakfast was very good though.
Was lovely setting, was good service food was food
Try to price them self at top end, we stayed in the sangri-la before we came there food was much better and cheaper
- Staff is very friendly. Let us feel like we are the most welcomed guest. - Turn-down service is excellent. - White wine is placed in our room while turn-down service as a honeymoon surprise. - relaxing environment
- Lack of choices of food - Sparkling Water have to state the price inside menu, cannot ask together with the complimentary steam water while serving us drinking water. It is confusing and let people misunderstanding the sparkling water is free of charge.
The staff made sure you didn't lift a finger while on holiday and would go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable The chef would bring around special experiments every morning at breakfast Room was beautiful and island was cleanest place in borneo! Plenty of activities if you get bored easily
Some staff (not the activities staff or the front desk), the activities and the Thai food at the private beach. The room lay out was strange.
Activities staff, front desk staff, it wasn't very private
Staff very friendly
Food overpriced Boat transfer way to expensive Villas need maintenance Lots of dead ants in bathroom
rooms excellent / clean and comfortable / his + hers sinks / almost sycophantic staff attention (also -ve) / lovely clean pool / facilities available
food wasn't amazing / for this price park fee and boat transport should be included in the overall price / awful mojito (but they changed it) / tours book up quickly and not flexible
There is a private beach which is really nice.
The shower in the bathroom is working with the air condition. You must turn on the air condition for whole day at 22 degree or lower in order to get hot water. If you fail to do so, you get no hot water at all. And the placing of the air condition is poor as well. You can feel the cool air blowing to your face while you are in your bed, and not sleeping well at night.
Very detail minded and friendly service. Sous Chef Mr. Xavier Chef is very nice to me. He knows I cant take most of the food thus he tailor made a special dinner for me which is very surprisingly tastely and not bored meal. The room is very clean and no insect not even mosquito....the swimming pool and the garden is gorgeous.
Love the friendly staffs and the desserts! I like how they dont just allow any people to enter cos its a private resort, so I felt safe and they have a private boat to send us to another beach :)
The wild boar scared us! Hahahaha! but its all good! No complaints! All good for the memories :D
Service and facilities 100%!
It is not a cheap place. I think that it could be a bit cheaper.
