Not a surprise, but everything at the resort is overpriced. Some examples: A simple lunch at the pool bar 60 RM. A regular massage/spa treatment about 400 RM. The OK dinner buffet 100RM. In addition, you add 6% tax and 10% service fee. Note the compulsory transportation fee of 140RM p.p. for the 10min boat ride to the hotel.
The hotel is located facing Kota Kinabalu city. Hence the view from the hotel is a messy port with tall buildings. Not as idyllic as we were hoping. Unfortunately the sun down is also at the other side of the island.
We received (free of charge) an additional 4G wifi receiver upon arrival that was supposed to give us better reception. This worked well in most areas, but not inside our villa, which was disappointing.
The resort is isolated, and there are no options of going to another village or similar. You are "stuck" at the report. There are only two (expensive!) restaurant options other than the buffet dinner. There is a small shop in the reception, but they have a very limited selection. E.g. no drinks, no chocolate, very few toiletries etc.
This is truly a fantastic place. The resort is beautiful and well kept, with good facilities. There is a nice pool with a water-level pool bar. Enough sun beds available with a towel service. Nice private beach just in front of the hotel where you can snorkel, paddle, swim etc. We were positively surprised to find a gym there (not announced). The breakfast is also fantastic!
The villas are large, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Great and large bed, nice bathroom, a separate walk-in wardrobe, large terrace/balcony equipped with sun beds or chairs.
The hotel offers a range of activities. Some are free of charge (like a nature track to a private beach, or an outdoor movie-night if the weather permits it). You can also rent equipment there to kayak/snorkel etc.
All in all a great stay. 3-4 nights was an OK length to stay.
