Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La    

The hotel was amazing. Every need was catered for. The hotel and grounds are so well looked after. The staff are all so friendly. We had a wonderful time there and would most certainly go back again.

I can not find anything negative to say. The hotel was fabulous.

It was a pleasent stay in Resort.The Deluxe room was not enough spacious.Breakfast was nice and met 4 star hotel standards. Its located very near to Battu Ferringi main market.

There is no Jacuzzi in this resort.And its far from Gerogetown

Too high a price to pay for such a standard room.

They upsell me to the suite, because they said normal room dosent take 3 persons The first day in the suite the Television didn't work The second day , there was no hot water in toilet For the suit there the put they put LoChetne shampoo , but in my case I had to call them everyday to remind them that I'm staying in suite and they should put it for me The suite didn't had bathrope and slipers. They have discremintion to all nationalities except of europians in regards to service

Seafood buffet in adjoining shangri la hotel

Didn't like getting food poisoning from the hotel breakfast. They need to throw out food after its sat there on the buffet too long. Also food that should be served hot was warm or cold.

The hotel is right next to a road. In case you choose for the 'mountain side' (the ad doesn't mention this is at the street side), you will be hearing traffic all day and all night. Very different from the Shangri La's we stayed in the Philippines

Friendly staff and comfortable surrounding for children. Nice swiming pools.

The pool is excellent, the garden is fabulous, playing volleyball in the pool was so enjoyable for all of us as family especially with Nemar (Nemo or Heffley). Breakfast was just OK. The atmosphere in general is cosy. I would come back.

Cleanliness is fair. Quality of food in breakfast needs upgrading.

Nice pool area but busy with people because of high season. Our sea view rooms have great views of the pool area and the sea. Nice to be able to walk to the beautiful grounds of sister hotel Rasa Sayang where it is less crowded. The staff are friendly and courteous. Management attended to my issues with check-in and restaurant service promptly and with genuine interest to improve. Room service dining experience was excellent.

Rooms not ready at 2pm check-in time. Rooms should be ready even during high season period. After waiting one hour, front desk suggested rooms on the smoking floor against my booking request. Got me furious. Finally got one out of two rooms ready by 3:30pm on the non smoking floor. Stayed 5 nights at Golden Sands. The buffet breakfast got boring after the 2nd day. All the same stuff daily. Flies is a problem at the Cafe and especially so at Sigis by the Sea restaurant where we had breakfast. We saw the occasional fly landing on the cut hard boiled eggs, cheese platter, fruit and cakes. These items should be covered by transparent covers. Wonder how many people got sick eating them. Highlighted these issue with the waiter. Trainee chef at the egg station burnt my omelette. The majeshift night roadside stalls encroaches into hotel entrances along Batu Ferringgi road. The pedestrian walkways along the Batu Feringgi hotel belt become crowded with people in the night when it transforms into a night market forcing people to walk onto the roads blocking traffic flow. The local government need to do something about this.

Comfortable room, good service and friendly staff. Beautiful landscape and poolside and clean beach.

Food was mediocre, especially local food.

A good place for family with young kds.

The beach isn't what we expected. Its completely overtaken by individual private water sports operators who continually tout their services. Would have liked to have gone for a picnic but we couldn't and that was a major disappointment.

As a single traveller I found the putting competition a great was to make a few "temorary" friends

Very luxurious n comfortable! Kids love the beach, sea sports, pool, slide & entertainment zone. Great place for couples & families.

Everything was perfect except the making up of our rooms... The housekeeping team was abit slow.. Despite us out almost half a day at beach n pool, housekeeping didn't make up our rooms.. It was aft my complaint at 6pm+ then they came to make up our rooms..

Staff weren't as helpful as the other destinations we went to in Malaysia.

Being charged 3 times the normal taxi rate for booking a 'non normal' taxi via the hotel. The palm tree right in front of the balcony obscuring the view of the pool and the sea.
