Location, service and the excellent restaurant.
The atmostphere, good location, around &àmin from the public ferry fier. Breasfast wasn't included but there is many choices near the hotel.
The towel wasn't ready when we got the room.
Golden location. Good service. Clean room.
The hotel is too old.
Everything was excellent.
The wifi can be improved.
We stayed one night and checked out early morning. It was very short stay but we felt comfortable. The hotel is a bit old but has nice rooms. The street view from the window was beautiful. The facilities were well equipped ,maintained and clean. So we stayed at ease.
Really handy location. Room was big and spacious. Good internet connection.
Unfortunately our safe was broken though.
Centralized switches were top class Location perfect. Near ferry terminal and malls A very awesome lobby guy with a hat
Staff were very friendly. Great location.
Unfortunately wifi didn't consistently work which was frustrating when trying to book seats for flight home.
- fair size room - powerfull hot shower - nice and helpfull staff - good oldfashioned atmosphere
- had to pay extra for second cup of tea at breakfast
Good location, staff helpful if a bit low-key. Nice co-located bar/restaurant.
Racks of noisy air-con units outside my (rear-facing) room made good sleep difficult.
The staff were really welcoming, polite and friendly. They addressed me by my first name upon arrival before I had even told them who I was! They had my room key ready as soon as I returned to the hotel each day and were quick to help with any minor requests or enquiries. The room was lovely and very large with tons of storage room and bathrobes provided. I like the size of the hotel - small enough to provide the delightful personal service - and the location in Gaya Street was excellent. I was expecting it to be noisy because of this, but the rooms were so quiet - I couldn't even hear the Sunday market in the street below which started at 7 am. Nora, the manager, was so friendly and helpful too, arranging several trips for me as soon as I asked. I checked into another hotel in KK after my week's stay at the Jesselton, as I was going on a small group tour of Sabah which had accommodation organised. This hotel was more expensive and very very large, and I missed the Jesselton enormously, it was so much better! I hope to return to Sabah one day - if so, the Jesselton will be the only hotel I will consider! I thoroughly recommend it!
My only issue was with the consistency of the Wifi connection - I was without it for 2 out of 7 evenings/nights, even though the hotel tried to reconnect it for me. It was restored on my last day. It would be great if this could be improved.
Perfect location. Good breakfast. Very helpfull staff.
Central location and was pleased to see hotel still operating as last visit was in 1966
a quiet room, with backyard view. Great location.
net available mostly in the lobby.
The day time staff were excellent, gave good information and very polite. The breakfast expensive but very enjoyable and worth paying the extra for.
When we arrived in the evening the night time staff not very considerate, closed the door in our faces when entering with heavy luggage
Free WiFi Good location
No breakfast included
Amazing location close to many eateries, bars and other stores
Toilets were a little run down
The location is great. Easy access to the ferry and the SUNDAY MARKET. Operators are very kind.
Reception worker were very kind and nice.
I loved the ambiance and friendly staff. The room while a little small was comfortable and cosy. Very close to eateries and banks with only a walking distance away to shopping centers. You must try the restaurant "Kudos" right next to the hotel. Friendly staff and warm ambiance.
The WiFi tends to be unstable sometimes. Do not take the front rooms facing Gaya Street as it can be noisy after 7.00pm with birds and droppings.
The staff, especially Nora, Janet, and staff on duty, were very hospitable and helpful, promptly upgrading our room since our first room had a faulty air-conditioner. The hotel itself is very elegant and located in the heart of the city. I will stay in this hotel again!
It would be preferred if the carpet in the elevator is changed to match the truly beautiful interiors of the hotel. Adding a gym and/or pool will also be a good idea.
Good location and quaint hotel
Outdated. Had problems with Air conditioning on check in but staff organised a room move
Fine location in older Kota Kinabalu near harbor, lots of shops, restaurants, malls, easy to get around. Nice old hotel well maintained. Nice sized rooms. Comfortable.
