The hotel in general was a great stay
lousy ID design !… lousy architect no sense of luxury....five star !! look like a prison cell in the movie ! drity and miss manage
Good breakfast & gym
Batu Ferringhi has not been well developed. Its not easy to walk any where.
Choice of menu for the breakfast and dinner buffet The swimming pool and adjoining jacuzzi
Wifi was non-existent in the family room The strong smell of fertilizer (if it WAS fertilizer) in the mornings was distracting.
The rooms are well maintained and beautiful..The service at the restaurant is excellent and the staff is always willing to help.
The swimming pool is a tad under-maintained...also the reason is the continuous dropping of leaves from the nearby trees...but they should do something to keep it clean and interesting always.
I guess I expected too much from this hotel since it's associated to E&O. But not so great value for money. I requested for a late check-out a few times and they kept saying they would come back to me later but they never did. So I had to check with them in the evening of my last stay and they only gave me one hour of extension. I am not complaining that they didn't let me stay as late as I would've liked to. But I'm saying that I don't understand why they had to keep me in suspense only to give me one extra hour. If the room was not available, they could've told me a lot earier.
At first, the reception and room seemed nice, then it all went smashing down.
1. Insects in the corridor (some were surprisingly large) and room had its share (dead insect on the pillow); 2. Torturous "BUZZ" noise in the room, which turned out to be the electrical box! They couldn't fix it, and as it turned out other rooms had the same problem. I was extremely tired yet I could get no sleep that night; 3. It took reception 20 mins (and another call) to come check the problem out; 4. Awful sea view! Blocked by trees, only glimpses of the water from in between the branches; 5. The breakfast was poor! Outdoor with all the insects, and simply shameful in comparison with Hard Rock and Holiday Inn; 6. The worst part was ill mannered staff, no understanding or care! She tried to charge me for another night even though I informed her I am forced to check out at 8 am (due to the torturous electric box noise, but she didn't care to ask why); 7. I asked to meet the manager, instead I was told they will only charge me for the horrible night I stayed. No apology, No care, not even a smile from the moment I checked in til I left (apart from the bell boy and 1 of the restaurant staff). Lone Pine is not worth your stay, especially with excellent hotels on the same beach. Avoid at all costs.
EVERYTHING except our room floor as our room view was blocked by tree branches and therefore limit our view of the ocean. Breakfast spread was great. The hotel ambience was intimate. We felt like we were in a different world once we stepped into the hotel
The environment surrounded by the pine tree and low rise building make you feel relax and in holiday mood. Big bathroom and spacious bedroom. Outdoor bathtub and cozy balcony. Good location which is very near to the night market.
Nothing fantastic on their breakfast buffet which is quite disappointing.
General airy and relaxed atmosphere. Plunge pool/ sunken bath on balcony.
We booked a Super Deluxe Sea View Room but were on 1st floor with any view of the sea completely obscured by trees.
1. Beautiful garden. 2. Nice room design. 3. In-room mini pool. 4. The drinks in fridge is complementary.
As a 5 stars hotel, sure I have a certain expectation. My room was room 118. 1. Have to touch up their furnish. Wardrobe and tv console having scratch and look old. 2. Cushions of bench chair in balcony have stain mark. 3. Toilet glass not clear enough. It looks 'blur', seems not clean properly. 4. In the list (placed on the side table), they stated has 3 sport channels, but it isn't... No sport channel at all! Disappointed. 5. Breakfast is like 3 stars hotel or even worst. Not much variety. 6. The smiling of front desk crews are not sincere. 7. Not much things can do in the hotel if raining. Not many games in game room.
I grew up having holidays in penang and this hotel reminds me of these childhood holidays. it has managed to retain the charm of the era while providing all the modern facilities. The pool worked out particular ly well for my elderly mother who is on her 80s and the proximity to the beach was great with the kids.
More chairs seats outside in the bar , we were a large group of 7 and would have enjoyed havingcocktails at sundown by the pool or outside area. Clear instructions in the room regarding making up the room, drinks in the room etc especially for elderly guests not familiar with modern hotels. Better quality mattresses. I woke up stiff each morning.
The location was great, and the room was very clean, loved the balcony with the ocean views.
Hard to get drinks & food around the pool, warm beer and cold food.
Love the calamity of this place. A very relaxing hotel perfect for getaway.
The signboard to the hotel is not clearly visible. For those who drive, the signage is easily missed as it is not outstanding enough and it blends into the surrounding trees.
amazing colonial style hotel. Rooms are amazing and view to ocean spectacular. The JapaneseRestaurant is also highly recommended.
Noise of an evening. When I booked the hotel I was aware of some reviews that stated noise from nightclub was evident. This was very apparent during my stay despite asking for a 'quiet room'.
Location, location and location. Nice large private pool. We stayed at the low season (Oct) so was very quite
For the price we paid should have got fresh cutlery if you have more than one course at B/fast. But only minor complant.
Room lovely Complementary soft drinks were nice Pool area excellent Restaurant good
Wifi wasn't great Resort was quiet Shop wasn't open when advertised Beach busy with Jet skis and paragliding
The room is spacious n can sleep for 4 persons uf twin queen size beds
The wifi is terrible and also the reception line also very bad
Hidden but close to action
The rooms above the restaurant will have to endure the noise from the centralised air conditioning unit just outside.
The moment I left
No WIFI in the room, after 2 days and after my continue complains they finally did what I was suggesting (put a router directly in my room). The service during the breakfast is just made to collect complains. Too much staff with no one putting his eyes on the customers, no proaction and they do not listen to you. It took 3 times to order an espresso. The attitude of the staff working at the front desk in the lobby is just as bad: their preferred answer is NO and after your complains to the manager somehow things became possible.....
The ambience, the room, the service and the location. .
Everything about the hotel, except quality of its customers.
If you have noisy neighbours, you won't be able to sleep at night - the hotel structure makes you able to hear noise from your neighbours easily. Also, way too many kids - especially kids from "certain country", which are not too considerate. If you like peace and quiet and you insist to live in this hotel, then pray that there is not many kids during the period.
Great service. Clean and spacious room. Very comfortable bed & robes. Classic colonial style. Private balcony and plunging bath.
All the vendors on the beach immediately approaching you as soon as you step off the hotel property
I live the place bcoz is quite maybe not so many rooms. Place is clean and my kids love so much. I will come again .
The lovely and friendly staff. The lovely architecture, ambience and facilities.
Preferred the previous GM. He was very much friendlier and warm towards the hotel guests. dont feel that now with the new management.
