Minda Guesthouse  

The location is just on the street which is the city center. Close to shopping malls. It has plenty public space for such a small hostel, even with a rooftop balcony.

Also the location, it's on the noisiest street when night falls, the two bars down there started playing really loud music and you can feel the vibration lying on bed, everyday started at 10 pm. And the "included breakfast" was way too simple, just bread slices (though you can make a toast) and self-service instant coffee.

Minda Guesthouse gave me such as at home feeling.

Nice setting, roofterrace. During my trip to mulu np I left my luggage behind and could sit there while waiting to hop on a nightbus afterwards without costs, very friendly.

Very basic room with poor supplies, towel, sheets, but you pay a low price, so you could expect it, better bring your own stuff. Unfortunately for the management opposite the guesthouse is a pub with very loud music, it chases tourists away. The local government does not react on their complains.

Staff was friendly.

Breakfast was very poor. Help yourself to sweet bread but no butter/margerine and very little jam left in the jar. Overall disappointing.

Near to hotspot, eg: shopping mall, cafe etc.

If you book online (through this site or any) do not expect them to have a record of your booking or even a room for you for that matter. When we arrived we were told we were lucky to have a room (despite having booked 3 weeks previously) because they were full the following night. Basically they do not bother checking reservations made through any online sites that they've listed themselves on. We were told this was because some of the staff had difficulty opening the emails, but surely if one member of staff is capable of doing so then they should do so, and then there wouldn't be this problem. We were given no apology just a sob story about how they are loosing money because their staff forget to take the money from guests! We were travelling around South East Asia for over three months and didn't experience anywhere else anywhere near as incompetently run.

I stayed in Minda Guesthouse for 4 nights and it turned out LOVELY. The Owner is very friendly and he's the best well-organised and help solo travellers. Minda Guesthouse locates in Center of Miri and near everything such as big shopping Mall (Imperial, Bingtang), Supermarket, Seafood restaurants, 7 Eleven, similar Foodcourts in front of Minda, Moneychanger, 5 minutes walk to Post Office, even KFC and Pizza Hut and very close to go all around. - In Minda Guesthouse, the owner helps me to find some companies for sharing taxi fee and trip free, specially, he helps me with 3 people for trip in Gunung Mulu. - In Gunung Mulu, We had couldn't climbed up the Pinnacle without Willy's help (the Owner of Minda Guesthouse). - In Minda Guesthouse, the kitchen very clean, bread, jam, butter, tea, coffee is already for everyone self-service. - The most I like is Hot water and Toilets and Bathrooms are very very clean. THAT THE BEST GUESTHOUSE I HAVE STAYED. GOOD VALUE OF MONEY.

Worth to stay for 4 person in a room with attached bath room. Initially we thought it was rm100 per night, but when we checked out, it was only rm60. The room is clean and comfortable.

Although we have booked the transport from the guest house to pick us up from airport, but the person in charged was not turn up, I called the guest house and heard some noisy sounds from kids and the person said this is wrong number. So we ended up with calling a taxi to the guest house. When we rose up this matter for the receptionist, she said they just forgot about this and never even apologize to us. For the breakfast next day, as the booking.com stated it included breakfast, but we have waited until 730am and no breakfast was ready, it wasted our time as we have to proceed to airport at 815am.

Friendly staffs, cleanliness, nice decoration in living room and resting area, got balcony at rooftop which is shockingly nice to watch stars and sunrise and hangout alone or with friends. Best location which is accessible to shopping centres, pub, eating places and bus station.

Perhaps a bit noisy came from the pub.

1, Incredibly noisy. The music outside went on until 3 in the morning every night. It was not a weekend either. 2, The staff if you can call a collection of random people that were there staff seemed to go out of there way to be unfriendly. 3, No other tourists were staying here. It is obvious why.
