Located in the heart of central Sandakan. The roof top bar/restaurant has great views, great western style food & delicious drinks. The staff are friendly and more then happy to help out where needed. Its not 5star, but that's not why you are travelling in Borneo.

Extremely friendly and lovely staff - always smiling. The hotel has a roof-top bar/restaurant that is amazing - relaxing atmosphere with high quality food and drink, that is the perfect place to relax overlooking the bustling town of Sandakan (breakfast is served there too!). Nice and comfortable bed, clean rooms, air conditioning, nicely decorated. Located right in the centre in the town of Sandakan. My wife and I share the same birthday, which co-incided with our stay at Nak Hotel, and the staff noticed this at check-in (from the date of birth on our passports) and made a surprise birthday cake for us, which they brought out in the restaurant, complete with candle and all the staff singing Happy Birthday to us! We've stayed at a lot of hotels recently, and although Nak Hotel was one of the cheapest, it was our favourite, for all of the reasons above, but mainly the relaxed atmosphere, clean rooms and friendly and helpful staff.

The location in the city center. The rooftopof the bar is very great to chill out when the sun downs, before it is very too hot. The room was great, and the decoration is ok. Price for drinks and food are ok but expensive for the local cost of living. The breakfast was not exceptionnal but totally ok. The door of my wardrobe was broken, any hangers in it so I let my clothes on chairs. Any safe box to put the passport.

I was staying one night in a "Suite". Room is basic but ok and excellent bathroom. Close to local bus station and to waterfront. Very helpful lady receptionist. Nice rooftop cafe with in and out facilities. The hotel needs another refurbisment as it start to look old again.

Friendly and helpful staff, large and comfortable room, very reasonably priced, great rooftop bar and restaurant. We could easily have stayed longer here and would have if we hadn't prebooked other activities.

The Ba Lin Rooftop cafe. The hotel staff - pleasant, cheery, helpful and accommodating. Quite noisy due to the location being beside the bus stand.

The roof top bar is wonderful! - amazing drinks and food and cool surroundings - an ideal place for chilling. I loved how they threw in a free welcome drink on arrival. The bathroom attached to the bedroom is cool too - a quirky sink and huge shower.I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The food was fantastic - friendly staff- great music- very reasonable for value. Rooms are tidy-no safety box. Loved the atmosphere. Loved the garden roof top bar, staff pleasant an helpful, is postioned on very busy corner, motor bikes up an down street for few hours racing, was rather entertaining at night. The sea view is best , otherwise if on street side you hear generators on all night which is very noisy. If you prefer a quieter sleep pick "seaview" you put up with traffic and bus boy.....gar gar garrrrr! Lol. Recommend if just stopping over to see turtle island, allow 1 night free to stay over at resort. Close to all shops & cafe'S.

The best thing about the hotel is the rooftop bar, which was actually quite nice, but to get there we had to pass through dirty corridors with leaks and it was pretty grimy place. It was just too basic. The rooms were not clean. It was noisy. It was grimy.

The rooms were basic and spacious. The hotel has a very good bar on the roof, the Ba Lin, which is the highlight of Sandakan and well worth a visit if in town.

The highlight at the NAK is the rooftop terrace. The view & setting is fantastic. It's a little oasis in a bustling city. The food was brilliant too....& the cocktails! Room met expectations, it's good value for money. We paid the little extra for the top room. it's spacious, clean, good air-con system and has a very quaint/charming bathroom. Also offers free wi-fi up on the roof terrace

The restaurant placed on the top. The price - it is much too expensive considering that the Restaurant I open to anyone. Therefor you can be staying in a hotel at half price, same standard and the just take the elevator to the top.

We spent only one night (check in at 22:30 and check-out at 6:00) but we realize that the old hotel is in need of reform. The room had an old style and the quality of the bathroom was poor. The best is the roof, with an outdoor bar and a 360 ° view over the city. The need for reform throughout the building and the poor quality of the bathroom.

The architecture is 70s minimalist, but the decor and the way they have laid out the rooms is great. Having so much room in the bedroom and bathroom is so good compared to modern hotels. It is a little run-down, but the decor of the rooms and the staff more than make up for it. I would definitely stay again. Noise - but we were there at the end of Ramadan and you can't really fault the hotel for the fireworks. Getting into and out of the carpark was a lesson in persistence - some pedestrians would rather lose a limb than let you through the driveway. The complimentary breakfast needs work... some fruit and juice would be a nice option. Can't complain about the quality, though.
