- the place, view and atmosphere is so beautiful - free shuttle to the sanctuary - helpful staff - the environmentally friendly ideas (upcycling) like a wok as a washing sink
- breakfast is quite nothing (two slice of white bread and an omelette) --> but you get more bread if you kindly ask for it.. ;-)
Views from the challets are amazing! Outside shower and the sounds of the jungle, are spectacular. Very clean and white. A really special place to stay.
The food is not the best, small portions and not special at all.
Here you get the authentic jungle feeling but with the comfort that you can get away from the heat and bugs when you want. Rooms are basic but all you need, bathroom is liberating!
Menu isn't varied but excellent value
Good food, accommodation was beautiful and comfortable. Nice sociable area. Great Sun deck.
Close to nature, rustic room with great view (F1), friendly and helpful staff
Very slow WiFi, no choice of breakfast, isolated location
Great rooms Friendly staff Good food choices Romantic location Ultimate sepilok retreat Beautiful place
We had a private room, with outdoor bathroom. You could shower and have a few out at the jungle! Even though it is set 2km from Sepliok, it is worth the trip out just for the experience. There is a free transfer bus to Sepilok at 9.00 and back at 16.00. We had a problem with the hot water one morning, but it was fixed within 10 min of asking.
Due to isolation you have to eat at the lodge, which need to be pre-ordered, but there are a few choices. Due to gaps in the rooms the air conditioning does not have full effect.
Great location. Cool atmosphere and staff. Highly recommended
Bathrooms not the greatest but not all that bad
Staff member one Shuttle transport
loved the rustic setting and food was lovely.
Being in the elements. Good social area for evenings.
A little noisy as thin walled huts
All locks broken & think it's not saft enough
The lake at the bottom of the hill. The birds that you can see from the "restaurant".
Having no water for the first day. Being told it was fixed when it was not. No offer to change room even after pointing out the lack of water 3 times. Expected to pay nearly $50 for what amounts to a garden shed - airless solid wood walls. Unhelpful staff. No "garden view" as it is described on line - room a2 looks out on to a solid mass of vegetation (not all the rooms are like this). No choice of breakfast - we don't all eat chicken sausage and egg for breakfast EVERYday (I happen to be a vegetarian). Isolated from any other place to eat. Having to be totally reliant on them for transport; then being left in the lurch and having to walk back over 4km after visiting the Rainforest Discovery Centre. Very slow wifi - more or less useless. The well known guide book describes this as "some of the best value for money chalets in Sabah" - they have got to be joking!
Location is beautiful! Perfect little tropical retreat.
Lots of mosquitoes and bugs, but to be expected in the location.
View of Jungle from rooms balcony, rustic atmosphere, beds, unlimited cold water in the bar area,
Mud, very skimpy and poor quality food, no other options for food
Location of and views from huts were excellent, as was the comfort level. Communal facilities were just right, and food, while basic, was good.
Staff could offer a little more information about the tours. We would probably not taken the river tour if we had known that it was a two hour plus ride (each way) to get to it.
Great location with simple rooms. A beautiful setting in the jungle with hammocks and sun loungers. The meals were of a high standard.
The staff here were good but there wasn't enough of them . One lady was receptionist, bar man, waitress and tour operator! This meant there was a huge wait to ask a question, order food or a drink. Please employ more staff, this place is so close to being excellent.
Great little hit with beautiful view over jungle, great food and great staff! Highly recommend!
Wonderful place to stay. Spacious clean dorms with plenty of fans. Beautiful park right nearby. Transfer provided to the rehabilitation centre. Lots of places to relax and lounge about on hammocks etc.
Staff were not particularly friendly. They could give vegetarians who dont eat the sausage an extra piece of toast or more eggs...
Beautiful place to stay, free shuttle to the rehabilitation center, nice wooden lodges (basic, but clean) with "open" bathroom which makes you feel being one with the jungle. Food in restaurant is not the best of the best but okay for the duration of your stay. Good price vs quality. Water, beer, sodas for sale as well. Pay all with cash (creditcard not working).
Not much negative to say. Maybe that wifi was poor, so difficult to arrange next steps in your trip.
Beautiful jungle setting. Shuttle to the orangutan sanctuary.
beautiful location, helpful staff, good cook.
slow internet and short powerouts, comes with the location i guess
Great views on the forest Affordable food
Little attention to detail, no mosquito screen, have to open the sliding door to enjoy the view and bring some light, meaning insects and heat...
Bungalows are really nice and authentic, also very clean
Only cash is accepted. We ran out of MYR and asked if we can pay in Euros. They said yes, but the rate MYR to EUR would be 3,5 instead of 4.5 --> not nice of them.
facilities, clean rooms, beautyfull sorroundings
