|Situated along the shores of Pantai Petani, Alunan Boutique Resort offers modern and tranquil accommodation featuring a restaurant and provides daily housekeeping service.|
The bilas at beachfront were nice. The view to the beach is wonderful and the noise if the waves soothing. Beds wete comfortable, the rooms basic clean.
We difi not lieke the food at all. It was Malay but not nucely cooked. Limited choices for kids that prefer Western food. Buffet emptied quickly and wad not refilled quickly enough. No alcohol served. Overall venue neefs more caretaken of little things - garbage, replacing used cups and glasdes in the rooms with clean ones and so on. The food was very overpriced for the quality and price ( at least what we as Westerners had to pay).
Staff weren't so friendly; the food was awful and expensive. Our breakfast was included in the room price, so we had to eat breakfast there. The room was big but everything was so old.....
Staff are very helpful.
The best beach to swim, has natural shadow of trees, great snorkeling from beach, turtles. Spacious resort with pool. Nice staff.
Restaurant was regular. Water bottles too expensive.
Great location . Beach is stunning
Breakfast tasteless, Air cons not serviced, had to change rooms twice.
Beach view was awesome!!! tranquil location clean room
AC wasnt working in first room so they changed our room. washroom was mediocre breakfast was average
- very good location in a very scenic bight with clear water
- rooms with very limited standard, bathrooms; needed to call technician several times to fix AC and toilette; very outworn sun loungers on the beach; breakfast and dinner at very low standard with less fresh Food; appears as if no Investments in Chalets and the Arrival Queue in the last years
Everything are to my expectation, really great and my son keeps telling us when are we going there again..!
Few electric cut off sometimes about 5 mins, due to generator backup i supposed. No issue on this.
Not busy like all the other beaches it ready felt like we were on a secluded island. Giant sea turtles and reef. Breakfast buffet was good. No drinking.
It was a bit old and run down but everything worked and it was adequate. The restaurant was not fantastic but it's easy to walk around the island to go for dinner and lunch at other places.
This resort is probably on the best beach on the island and is spacious and well kept. Excellent snorkeling (including sea turtles) without needing to take a boat. Rooms are fairly nice (though nothing special, for the price) and are cleaned daily.
The restaurant is overpriced and has lousy service. We had one disappointing lunch there, then decided to take the rest of our lunches and dinners at other resorts around the point. If you want a beach chair, claim one early or the small number of them will fill up. They happen to be the least comfortable beach chairs I've experienced, so you may be better off on the sand. Snorkeling trip was OK but no guidance from the personnel.
Location...is simply amazing
The room is very expensive and it is run-down: - Bathroom is with stains due to wear - Conditioner is old and so noisy - The bed is not so comfortable - In the canteen menu there is no fish... but is an island... how is possible??? - The swimming pool is not available, too dirty and old
The resort has far more space than neighbouring ones including a very long and sandy beach. We really enjoyed the wild life .. With resident iguanas, monkeys, squirrels Lovely freshwater pool And helpful staff Email ..is delightfully unpredictable arriving in he middle of the night .. And thereby saving you from trying to keep in touch with work. Really hard working staff We enjoyed the variety of the breakfast buffet
The food in the restaurant outside breakfast buffets was slightly bizarre .. It did not manage to either be western or Malaysian food and was expensive. Hence a exodus every night to the neighbouring Coral Reef ..fantastic smoothies .. Or even better to Tuna Bay with wonderful clay pot dishes and the romance of a water taxi
location, garden and beach
rooms old and durty air conditioning noisy restaurant expensive for poor food
The location and amazing beach and snorkelling is the only reason I would stay here again.
The resort itself is in desperate need of updating (and has been for wine time). The staff were not particularly courteous and we were disappointed that snorkelling tours are only available for min of 5 people - so we missed out.
Great location, you can see turtles just near the beach. Nice clean rooms. Beach towels for free. Free WiFi but only near reception. Best beach and good view on the sea. Varans, monkeys, squirrels and bats are everywhere.
Problems with making up the room - sometimes they come at 7pm. The same breakfast every day but normal.
PIR is one of the most expensive places to stay at the Perhentians. But in exchange, you get one of the most beautiful and quiet spots at the beach, a sufficient level of cleanliness (compared to other places at the islands) and a nice breakfast buffet in the morning. There is always a staff member at the reception and they really try to help you with everything you ask for. Therefore I cant agree with the negative reviews regarding the attitude of the staff.
Dont expect a five star hotel - rooms are not as clean as hotels in other places. But as a defense, its on the edge to a rain forest and humidity also seems to make it harder to maintain this place. When it comes to dinner, try other places on the island (expensive and not good). Regarding the negative comments on not serving alcohol: I dont get it. Its Malaysia (a muslim country), so if you cant deal with it, better go somewhere else.
Location Beach Friendly staff
Food (go to Tuna Bay or the Small Island to eat!) Cleanliness
Vast, clean beach minus the crowd!
1) Food was terrible! To enjoy good food we have to spend transport to go to another island 2) Lack of experienced staff. Most of them were students on vocational training serving tourists on peak season!!! 3) Overpriced with the standard of accommodation and toiletries..
PIR is locatted in perhaps the best beach of Pulao Perhentians.
I had stayed at this resort back in 2008, and I knew it was already a bit run down. However I chose it again because we were travelling with a toddler and the beach is by far the best (white sandy beach with no stones or coral). But I was very disappointed. The resort is in a desperate need of renovation. We only managed to get a room with sea view and that was just acceptable (again terrible value for money). But the second room available was at the back (3rd line). The A/C was an old one with no possibiliy of regulating it: so it was either frezzing cold or we have to turn it off. My partner had to put an open umbrella to stop the air getting directly onto our throats as on the second night we were all with a sore throat. We complained and they moved us to the second line, where it was slightly better as it was a split A/C that you could regulate the temperature. The bathroom was really bad in both rooms. The sink had a crack and every time we open the water tap the water was innundating the bathroom floor. We complained and they sent someone to fix it, but he didn't fix it properly so we put up with the problem because we were tired of complaining about everything that was not working. The courtains were all the time getting off the hook, and it was again poor maintenace. All in all I will not come back to this place, especially because it's expensive and very bad value for money (for less money we got a 5 star hotel in KL). Breakfast is not good. You have quite a choice of things to chose from but the quality of the food is really bad. For example the orange juice it was just water with some orange flavour powder added to it. If I had to come back I would probably chose Tuna Bay resort. The place is newer and the restaurant is better.
Location just in front of beach Swimming pool
Restaurant a bit too expensive (finally didn't try it at all), there were some other restaurants 10 minutes away. Poor quality/price ratio, especially when coming from Thailand.
The beach is one of the best of the island.
The beach is full of screaming kids. Apparently it's a family place. The price you pay it's not worth it at all. The room (which was the highest rate they have) was very dirty and old. So, don't waste your money ans just go to "Coral View" which is 50 mt from it. With a third of the price you get a better place, cleaner, with very good food and service. I didn't try any other meal here then the breakfast which was awful.
Beach. Marine life at the beach itself.
Food. No alcohol. Dirty. Not maintained. Bad service. Broken and too few sun beds. Food was the worst!!
Just on the beach. The best beach of the island. Big room with terrace. Everyday cleaning. Breakfast choice. Big and nice common areas. Close to cheap and good restaurants.
WiFi not working. Expensive internal restaurant.
The rooms were in an ideal location for the best beach on the island and the amazing wildlife. The accommodation was very good with fantastic views.
The restaurant was overpriced and the food was very poor. Service wasn't great with an inability to buy cold water. We went to a great Chinese restaurant next to Coral View where you could enjoy fantastic good value food, washed down with a beer whilst watching the sun set.
All in all the resort looks good since it has all the necessary comforts to spend some relaxing days. The room was nice and clean (a superior in front of the sea, but there are other cheap options facing the forest...), good dive / snorkeling center, clean beach (large and long) from where you can easily access the facing reef. Nice also the restaurant.
The staff needs to be more professional (both at the reception and at the restaurant). It was very hard to understand what they said and nobody helped us in carrying luggage from the jetty to the room. The restaurant needs to be improved a lot in the quality and availability of meals and in the service, the wi-fi does not work, the bar facing the beach is not operating, the beach loungers are very few and without padding... The value for money is a bit unbalanced on the price...
