I booked 3 nights stay recently to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary. To cut to the long story short, the hotel eventually fulfilled my requests from the room set up and my room was upgraded to sea view. It was a pleasant surprise to my wife when we first entered the room. The hotel staffs are friendly and very courteous. We really enjoyed our stay and will always wish to come back.
The only setback is the limited selection of foods and they are overpriced for the same portion & quality.
Nothing - except the staff were helpful
- Location: very far from airport and very expensive to go by taxi. -food is very expensive and the quality is not what you pay for. -room was not clean -the hotel is in a rain forest so you will have lots of insects, lizards, and monkeys overall the hotel is very expensive and in a place where you have nothing to do, the hotel's facilities are very poor and expensive.
The staffs were friendly. Swimming pool towels were given generously and we could obtain it at all the places eg. Snorkeling area, pool side n beach side. In room dining was served with warmer , not many hotels do that. Overall we were happy.
It was very dusty under the bed. Not good for kids. The housekeeping guys should sweep n keep it all clean all the time.
Location, Beautiful beach mystic forest. Very good breakfast. Also dine at their JALA RESTAURANT, worth every cent. Nice friendly staff.
We stayed at the south side which they are starting to renovate in Sept 2014. But until they do that north side is definitely a better choice.
location at the beach, service of the staff (very friendly)
the location is a little bit isolated, there are no other opportunities for lunch or dinner except the hotel restaurants. The rooms need an uplift (some are very old).
Location, Staff, Facilities
Loved the shore and the squirrels Pleasant service Good Food Amazing hall and surroundings
Location, a bit too far Pricy exercions, 3 -5 times cheaper to book in town Family hotel
facilities is old
A very good location and great place to spot monkeys.
A little dated and could do with a bit of renovation.
Staff were very accommodating. Beautiful quiet beach with clear blue water and nice pool area. Kids loved swimming and feeding the fish in the coral nursery. Good restaurants
Our room smelled a bit damp
- lovely spacious pool - excellent pastries at breakfast. - excellent staff at the lobby bar - very courteous check in staff
- found the service at the Japanese restaurant a bit hit and miss eg served gyoza that wasn't hot and then warm beer. One waitress in particular went out of her way to improve experience for us. - would have liked to have been told on check in that booking a table at one of the restaurants was essential. - found the advice on what to do outside the hotel not helpful at all.
Location, procimity to beautiful forest, jungle, mountains. And not anywhere near the tourist strip.
The food. Bland, same. Even the fine dining option was unremarkable.
The location is far from the main town, but that's the beauty of it. Away from the crowd, the private beach is pleasant. The bar right next to the beach is a must go. Staffs are attentive and well trained.
Prices a little high, but we'll worth spending more for a more relaxing vacation.
The hotel was really far away from the city, wich was exactly what I was going for. Food was excellent and the staff super attentive. As a solo traveller wifi reception at the beach was a plus.
In the jungle there will be bugs, so get ready for them (and this is hardly the hotel's fault). The outbreak of ants in my room on the other hand, is the hotel's fault, as this could not be controled during the whole length of my stay. That was annoying although I was kind of ready for it from having read previous user reviews. The crowd at this hotel is also really dull, wich is normal given the type of hotel this is. Middle aged couples politely fighting with other middle aged couples as to whom has travelled the most in the past. If that doesn't faze you, you should definetelly give this hotel a try, I had a great and super relaxing holiday.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We went as a honeymoon couple and they upgraded our room for free. We were very grateful for that. The food was delicious. There is a shuttle bus to Langkawi center every day. Monkeys were fun to watch.
The hotel is too far away from the city center (45 min). It costs about 80-100 RM to the center and airport by taxi. Don' t expect to swim in the sea, because there are large rocks near the shore (visible at low tide). Because the hotel is located in the rainforest, there may be occasional visitors in your room (spiders, crabs, small lizards).
Rainforest location was excellent. Lots of wildlife just outside the rooms. Quiet and peaceful. Staff were really nice and welcoming. A birthday cake appeared one day without the staff having been told (must have been from the passports at check in) - really thoughtful from the staff.
On site restaurants were a little on the expensive side - by Malaysian standards. The isolated location meant that there weren't too many other options without catching a taxi.
The resort is beautifully incorporated into the surrounding jungle. As a result there is wildlife right on your doorstep, in some cases literally with flying lemurs sleeping on the trunks of trees just outside our room!
The path marked as being to the secret cove appeared not to exist when we tried to find it.
We loved the greenery, pool and beachfront. Breakfast had plenty of options and was good. Rooms were comfortable and clean.
I did wish there were restaurants outside the hotel as eating in can be costly. Distance to town also was a bit of trouble. When we checked in, there was no bottled water provided. The weighing scale also was not working- this should just be removed. Also, I would have appreciated if we were informed of the cost of breakfast for our children beforehand.
swimming pool is good, beach is good
food is too expensive and breakfast is soso
The beach and how quiet everything was. How everyone was always nice and friendly
Everything is very expensive. By not having a competitive all inclusive package you're left with having to pay as you go for all you drink/eat (no alternatives unless you rent a car and drive 30/40 minutes). And the don't expect to pay "Malaysian" prices for what you order, you'll pay "London" prices for everything, so do expect your bill to increase. It's a shame, because you feel that you are always carrying a meter (you pay for food, you pay for drinks, you pay for kayaking and you pay for your airport transfer - much cheaper to order a taxi). The staff - Despite their best efforts and kindness they are very amateur. It was common for us to have to review the bill and notice that something was wrong with it, or to have things messed up (e.g. in the Japanese restaurant the starters came after the main courses, or in room dining bringing us something different from what was ordered). The bedroom door has enough space under it for bugs and geckos to crawl under, so do expect company,
The location is absolutely stunning. What a beautiful beach! Very attentive staff. A very relaxing place. Beautiful wildlife surrounds you. Our sea view room was outstanding. Highly reccommend a sea view room! Jala is the best restaurant there and is very memorable!
The prices were inflated as you are in the middle of nowhere. Poor general housekeeping of the hotel. Food was good, but for the price should have been outstanding. We started our stay in a garden terrace room but moved because we thought the garden was rather grubby. This all sounds very negative, but actually the andaman is a brilliant place to stay and I would recommend it!
Location right in the jungle, very quite and relxing
Everything is very expensive and there is nothing around apart from the hotel
bathroom in room fantastic, service on the beach by Ronnie was very friendly, actual beach spot beautiful
sign indicating that you needed room to be cleaned was confusing - one side said privacy and the other side blank - thought that meant to clean room- apparently no sign meant clean room. Also asked reception to book us a car to take us to cable car which they did - except it was closed and we had to get a taxi back 5 minutes later- wasted 150 ringat.
Everything was absolute wonderful. Stunning nature, beautiful sea and soft sand. Nice seafood restaurant. I loved it and hope to visit this place again in the future.
