The hotel is wonderfully restored and evokes and era gone by with service to match. . Noisy plumbing from which we note from other reviews is a common complaint nad the pool canot accomodate more than 4 people at a time. |

The hotel was beautiful, and the rooms were luxurious and very well appointed. The pool was great for the kids, even if it is on the small side. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. A great place to stay. |

Lovely room in colonial design. Fully open concept bathroom. Nice attention to details like introduction to the room with a basket of Chinese tea. Evening turn down of the room with a little local sweety. Excellent service and friendly staff. Upon check out we received a present as thanks for booking their accommodation. |

We're happy with the size & design of the room. Staff service was great! Always ready to help and always polite. They provided a cot for our baby without us asking. The only problem is the walls of the room are a little thin so when the rooms next door turn on the shower & open/close the door, we can hear it pretty clearly. |

Mainly the friendly & courteous staff. We particularly enjoyed our UNESCO guide, Donovan who went out of the way to introduce further information on Malacca since we last had him on our previous trip in Sept 2009. Chef Nizam was very also accommodating when we informed him of the stale prawns in our lunch. The room toiletries could be better like separate shampoo & conditioner instead of conditioning shampoo. Subtle change of "poorer quality" room slippers compared to last trip in 2009. |

The interior is very nicely done up. The staff are of no assistance when approached for directions to restaurants or tourist spots. For such an suposedly high end hotel, it is lacking in services found in similiar hotels, such as unknowlegable staff, no extra efforts eg bringing guests' parked cars to the front of the entrance.. |

We were very happy with our stay. The hotel was everything it promised. The room was so nice we didn't explore Melaka as much as we could have. The hotel is at the north end of the town which is a slightly less sophisticated area. We had to walk 15 mins each day into town. We would have appreciated a concierge. |

The spa therapists were well-trained and obviously knew what they were doing, unlike many ofther hotel spas passing off poorly trained staff as professional masseurs. Facility well-appointed and service was impeccable. The high tea was disappointing - there was nothing Peranakan about the food as advertised in the brochure. Service was excellent though and the selection of teas fantastic. Dinner at the restaurant was a disappointment too - again, it was not the promised fine-dining Peranakan fare. It tried to do fancy fusion but it was utter confusion - my grilled tiger prawns were doused in a spiced orange sauce & sat on top of overcooked spagetti in a ultra creamy green sauce - they did not go together well and looked worse than it sounds. Portions were large but the food was not as authentic as hoped. Service was however excellent. |

The room with the open bath concept, the comfortable bed with the price that we paid.. we would expect at least more toiletries..... the minimum ... toothbrush/toothpaste, a simple comb, some stationery, .... and we booked 2 rooms via internet, we called the service centre to ensure that we had adjoining rooms... and when we checked in..... only one room was confirmed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
