The interior design, location & the hospitality
I was stay in Tofu cafe bed&biki for 2 nights . Its the great time. The hostel is located near Komtar tower and in Georgetown , then its easy to walk around.
There arent shampoo, liquid soap in bahtroom. You have to prepare them.
-The japanese style sleeping pods. - The location is well located although quite a distance to walk from the ferry port. - Environment is spacious and friendly to sight and spaces. - Wonderful people. - The authentic past feelings.
- Some bikes do need some alignment to do. - The sleeping pod do require a multiple port.
make me feel like home and everything is great
staff is very nice, and gave us a lot of useful information.
I arrived at 6am and they were kind enough to let me shower and store my stuff before check in. My dorm pod was very comfortable and there was a lovely atmosphere.
Reception closes around 6 which makes it hard when you are stashing your bags for an onward trip.
The friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the pods, the central location, etc. are some of the éléments that make Tofu an excellent place to stay in Penang. Plus : rental/borrowing of bikes is the best way to explore George Town and its héritage treasures.
Some other travellers can be a little bit too noisy, late night...
Wonderful hosts! Joyce and Lucas gave us some great suggestions on what to do. The place itself is very charming and the layout is nice.
A bit farther out.
A very unique hostel with capsule room. The atmosphere is so classic as it is a preserved building. Love the design and the decoration in the common room! The staff are friendly and help you a lot with the direction. Recommended it!
The location, cleanliness was fantastic, the tofu map was extremely helpful, very quiet and peaceful.
Would be good to provide drinks for sale after hours
I like the environment there.. It makes me feel so comfortable.. This feeling is the most important thing for me to consider for an accomodation..
the location is great if you like to explore the street art and stay away for the busy town. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
Nice hospitality and very accommodating. Clean place and very well thought concept for dorm pod sharing beds.
The hostel's in a traditional building and very cleverly laid out with pod-like beds giving privacy. Staff are lovely and go out of their way to help guests discover the town. I stayed 3 nights and got to use one of the cool vintage bikes for free.
It's quite expensive for what it is. Breakfast is fairly basic.
the location is convenient.house owner is very nice.beds are clean and confortable.worth the price
They are so friendly. :)
Very friendly staff, love the design of the hostel and the way they manage things and treat people, their cafe is actually better than some cafes they recommended us, so ... nothing to complain
the location too quite at night..
nice, clean and neat
Supercozy, homey feel and so fresh n so clean! Excellent coffee, good tunes and groovy people. Look no further, this is where you're supposed to be.
At some point you'll have to leave The Tofu and go back home. That kinda sucks.
The bed is amazing
Tofu is clean, comfortable and close to the center of Georgetown. But by far the best part of Tofu is Joyce and Lucas. They opened the hostel about four years ago, but somehow are still as friendly, helpful and genuinely concerned with the quality of your stay in Penang as if you were the first traveler ever to visit the island and the perpetual well-being of its residents was solely dependent on your coming away with a positive impression. Lucas has made a massively helpful map of the city that, among other things, contains a rundown of his favorite hawker food stalls--he has good taste. Over the course of my five days in Penang, I probably spent at least five hours talking to Joyce and Lucas and my experience was by no means singular: I suspect them of having identical twins.
The blankets were a tad short for my 5-foot-10 frame, but that was really my only complaint. There's a travel-recycle cupboard downstairs where I found an extra blanket.
A bit far from centre
