A hotel with character. The staff were professional and friendly
Modernised and lovely location. Well managed and customer focused staff - well up to international standards. Our room had been refurbished or maintained to a very high standard. It was clean and tastefully decorated. None of this run down and half broken African plumbing and electrics for example. When a bottle of deteriorated Tattinger was queried, Bottle of Moet was produced to replace it without too much visible strain - always a test of a good hotel.
Hard to be critical of well run hotel but the television choice limited - no concessions for the English (No bbc option and it was not working very well). Restaurant has 'ambitions' and many do in Namibia. From the well travelled and 'well received' European perspective - I think keeping it simple or entering into partnership with aspiring or retiring (probably French) chef is the model that works best in my experience, as they still lead the world in this area (which I dislike admitting) and only New York or London get close. We did go 'simple and that worked well enough. Cape Malay food in Capetown is the obvious option for any restaurant looking to theme southern African cooking and not any of the dozen hotels offered this except Ellerman House in the Cape (but eh is on another level and I would just like to live there.)
Lovely rooms, perfect equiped; great breakfast, helpful very friendly staff; wifi worked very good
Everything about this 'castle' is like no other we have stayed in. The rooms are huge with all the facilities you could wish for. The restaurant serves good choice of courses and the wine list must be the biggest one I have had to look through!
Could find no fault with this Hotel.
Pillows and bed not too comfortable
On the first day the tow water bottles that I have used and the champagne glass were not cleared.
coffee cold at breakfast!
The professionalism and courtesy of the staff, the size & comfort of the bedroom & bathroom, the stunning views and the excellent dining facilities & cuisine.
Having to leave.
restaurant, swimming pool, location
Price (too axpensive for the service they provide). Service and kindless is very important in this kind of hotel, and they didn't provide it at all. I kindly asked to use their PC to do the check-in for my flight, as I was travelling with two kids and wanted to be sure to have good seat, as the WIFI was off, but the said definitevly NOT. They wanted me to pay the room a second time, as they didn't trust I had already paid.
All, but for sure THE great service and the fantastic high level restaurant.
Staff Food Situation
Clean, we'll appointed and well run hotel in a great location
quiet and being a small hotel service was excellent
This small castle, now boutique luxury hotel, has character, charm and good taste. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and impeccably finished. The staff is friendly and attentive. Leo's at the Castle restaurant is a wonderful bonus. Fine dining with an extensive wine list in a stunning ambiance. I would have liked to stay longer!
While all the common areas and the restaurant have spectacular views, some of the rooms have less light and less expansive views.
Great location and excellence staff. Rooms beautiful.
The staff was helpful and polite. Our room was very nice and quiet. The view from the terrace as well as our room was spectacular.
The entrance was a bit narrow so it was hard to make sure other cars weren't coming in or out as you were coming in and out.
Great location overlooking the city, and a lovely balcony for our first sundowner of the trip!
The outdoor patio for breakfast was great...with the view towards Windhoek A very nice spacious room
The lobby unloading area is awkward to drive up to and turnaround. Just a bit Pricey...!
The breakfasts. Location for Business.Staff friendly and helpfull.
- No separate shower . - Aircon in the Room (15), was faulty (Blowing hot air instead of temp @ 21 degrees.) Reported twice but no response. - Dinner in Restaurant a bit on the pricey side.
Nice pool area, good staff
The hotel rooms are dark and can be seen into through the the only window they have from the outside walkway that accesses the rooms. Everyone walking by can look into your room when it is dark outside (during daylight the windows work as one-way mirror from the outside) The rooms are for the price compared to the Hilton very small and the bathrooms insufficient. I had one of the more expensive rooms without a double sink in the bathroom and no seperate shower. The shower curtain in the bathtub and a grimy brown bottom. The restaurant is very expensive and the food quality poor especially for the price. I had a king clip that was pure rubber. The hotel overall is gaudy in its appointments and well overpriced. I stayed at the Hilton before and it was markedly better on all counts I outlined for almost half the price.
Wonderful 100 years old castle very nicely located. The view from the terrace is exceptional.
The restaurant "Leo's castle" is nice and the food quality is fair to good but the prices are much to high.
Liked the views from the terrace over the city and the outdoor eating area.
The staff were incompetent and the service was very poor.I think this must be the lack of training received from a poor management team .For supposedly the best hotel in Windhoek it was extremely disappointing. It was ostentatious and over the top- why cover bacon eggs with a siver turrine and remove with white goves at breakfast time when the waiting staff could n't deliver on the simplest requests. On the whole shambolic -over priced, overrated and I will never return and do my best to ensure any friends of mine avoid the Heinitzburg like the plague-in fact the plague might be more enjoyable!!
Friendliness of staff
No shower, bath over shower . No top sheet on bed, only duvet.
The staff, mainly in Reception Mr. Remember and Ms. Loretta in the restaurant. 5 stars hotel!
Generally good food Great views Great location
Breakfast underwhelmed, with cold meat cuts, cheese and fruit platters covers in flies, and left out since early morning to turn warm outside. Also, formal dining room is an unwelcoming space, preference is given to local dignitaries ahead of other paying guests, making a visit to the restaurant extremely unpleasant. The staff is generally ill equipped to deal with single guests. Don't expect even European 5 str treatment.
