Windhoek has a long colonial history, with interesting museums, galleries and landmarks. The natural history museum was my favourite.
The landmark German Lutheran Church, in the centre of town, is a wonderful place to visit.
It has too many restaurants to mention, but Joe's Beerhouse is the best. The variety of meats on offer, the atmosphere, the decor, absolutely everything is just so incredibly awesome! A MUST for any visitor to Windhoek.
One can easily get a cab, similar to Uber, called Lefa, which is extremely quick to respond and take you wherever you need to go.
Next time I would avoid being coaxed into taking a local taxi off the street, as the operators are mostly unreliable drivers and one can end up in dangerous areas such as the very poor locations.

its a quiet and beautiful place, the people are just friendly as if were from same country or house! On the price just add breakfast on it if possible and reduce price of food if someone wants to order!

Windhoek is a wonderful city, often regarded as one of the cleanest cities in Africa. The road infrastructure is user-friendly, and traffic is light, except during rush hours in the morning and afternoon.
Grove Mall provides many opportunities for great meals. We visited Rocco Mammas and Joe's Beer House, where the menus offer cost-effective and delicious options. If you prefer not to venture out, you can easily order traditional or international cuisine through a dial-a-meal app, which delivers freshly prepared meals to your doorstep.
In addition to shopping and entertainment, the mall offers a range of fitness activities. There is a Virgin Active gym just a stone's throw away, as well as excellent and safe running and cycling routes.

Small town feeling for a capital city.
Small town feeling for a capital city. Cleaner than most African cities, friendly people and a sense of safety when walking about town although I still would't recommend walking around at night. Some nice restaurants and pubs.

The City was clean, not congested, people were friendly and helpful. Taxi services in the city are efficient and you can go anywhere at $13. I was disappointed that the Museum in Windhoek was closed at the time of my visit.
In future, I will spend less time in Windhoek and more time in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay

There are a handful of things to see and places to explore in Windhoek, but the list isn't endless so 4 days would give you plenty of time to see the main sights, sample the key places to eat and have a day to get your bearings and a feel for the place.
The city centre is safe and fairly enjoyable to walk around. Most of the key things are walkable distances from each other.
Highly recommend the Craft Centre and Cafe on Tal Street for an afternoon of perusing good quality crafts and a wonderful restaurant with balcony terrace.
Joe's Beerhouse is also worth a visit for great steak and game meats - there is even a shuttle service you can book online so you don't have to worry about getting there or getting home.
The Parliament gardens are a nice place for a wander, and it's right next to the landmark church and also the National Independence Museum - which has an awesome lookout on the 4th floor where you can see across the whole city - definitely worth the visit.
The clock tower on Independence Ave and nearby asteroid art installation are nice to see, but if you're heading to Zoo park, don't make the effort - it's very run down now.
Louisa's place was a great place to stay for work trip to Windhoek. It was well located in a quiet area 5-10 minutes taxi ride from the centre of town and within walking distance of a mall. I was there for two weeks and didn't want to stay in a hotel. The bedroom, living room and kitchen were separate so I had space to work and relax, and cook for myself. Perfect for my needs.
The hotel exceeded my expectations, it is modern, clean and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious and filling. The restaurant staff have great customer service and are ready to serve. I enjoyed my room - it was comfortable, spacious and had a beautiful balcony. There is a spa and restaurant on site which is convenient. It is close to town and central.
The owner of this cute apartment was so friendly! And her dogs were super cute too. She has decorated the place really nicely and provided heaters for the cold Windhoek winters. The beds were the most comfortable we slept in during our stay in Namibia. She also helped my family stay a bit later due to our late flight. We will stay here again!
This self catering flats are very well located, in the center of Windhoek and in easy access. The private parking place is in front of the building, but with a guard. Internet works well and the rooms have space as well as the kitchen. And it has a balcony. Staff is available to solve any issue that you may have.
Excellent choice for our stay in Windhoek ! Great location, very cosy and nice dinners. I would like to thank the staff for the excellent work and in particular the help to get back the laptop we had forgotten in our hotel of Swakopmund ;) ! Five stars support ! Thank you again and keep up the excellent work !
Beautiful, clean and central location close to everything. Beautiful pool and waterfall feature. Wonderful and friendly staff. Were able to help with laundry, too. Very good breakfast included. A cute and inquisitive mongoose roaming around the garden, too. Perfect value for money in Windhoek!
After 20 days driving and sleeping in our van, we really felt we needed a nice and comfortable place to spend our last evenings. This was perfect, the staff was super kind and understanding and the food was great. The hotel is very pretty, very clean and very charming.
We booked on the same day and luckily got a room for our night in Windhoek! We were greeted to friendly and immediately offered a shuttle service to Joe's Beerhouse.
Room is lovely and so spacious! Will definitely recommend this beautiful hotel.
The lodge quickly accommodated our unexpected flight change and adjusted our stay. Theo was always very helpful in providing information and transportation, and seemed to care about helping the clientele enjoy their time in Windhoek.
Nice hotel in a posh area and within walking distance of the city centre. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and made a good breakfast in the morning. Plenty of secure parking available.
No breakfast, self catering Unit. Value for money. They need to install Air-con and Hotel Dstv packages. I will always go back there. Host is very friendly and always available. Anna you are doing great job there.
It's cool because you can sleep in a tent. So even if you're not camping in Windhoek, you have quite an authentic experience. Great sociable place to have dinner and a drink on our last evening in Namibia!
After three weeks of Safari camping, it was a blessing to come back to this hotel with the spacious rooms and fabulous shower. It’s also good to see the concierge again, Marvin, who we just really liked.
Fantastic facilities. Fantastic views of sunrise and sunset! Best views of the city!! Incredibly friendly staff who are very helpful!! Lovely hotel - good value! A must stay in Windhoek!
The host, Luis, was very accomodating of our needs.
The location is quite central with access to shopping, restaurants, museum and other touristic attractions within Windhoek
