Location was fantastic

Poor communication, noone willing to provide information on activities. No available snorkelling gear for guests. The restaurant charges toilet usage when cruise ships visit the island. Even though they were able to speak English they were quite rude about it, even when translating the menu!

Great location right next to Kuto Bay. Rooms are clean and functional. The upstairs rooms are better than the downstairs "garden" rooms. When one of us got sick the staff were very accommodating and allowed us to stay an additional night at short notice. Drove us to the local doctor and helped us arranged additional flights.

Some of the reception staff not particularly friendly. Buffet breakfast is fairly poor quality (particularly given the price) and dinner options limited and average quality. Restaurant generally seems a bit tired. Beach and bar gets very busy when cruise ships in the bay. We had 3 different cruise ships in the first 3 days and then none for the next 3 days. Most of the advertised 'activities' are not available (aqua bike and kayak). No wifi available.

Mainly the unprofessional, poorly trained, mostly unfriendly staff. We never saw a manager in either the hotel or restaurant. No concierge. The rooms were tired, dark, and dreary. Way over-priced for the substandard quality and service. The restaurant food was edible, but quality did not meet the prices, and the decor was depressing and dated; children were allowed to play and scream on the porch, disturbing diners in the main room......overall a poor dining experience despite a beautiful view of the bay. Not having a phone, we asked reception staff on several occasions to book dinner reservations at other restaurants; were told this was done, only to find out later that we had no reservation. One of us got food poisoning, most likely at this hotel's restaurant, as this is where we ate most meals.

The staff was very unfriendly, most of the staff made us feel unwelcome and were defintly not interested in helping the hotel customers. The hotel restaurant menu is somewhat limited in choice.

Breathtaking location - couldn't be better. Cheery, comfortable rooms and friendly and helpful staff - including cleaners. I wish I had booked more than three nights. I was so happy here.

Neighbours at the back lit fired at night and the smoke blew in the windows. Not hotel's fault however.

The location was good, and the general plan and decor of this tropical island hotel is quaint. The local staff tried very hard to be helpful, but there is a 'manana' culture which prevents timely responses. We appreciate that they let us into our room early, after arriving at 10.30am on the ferry from Noumea. We understand that everything is expensive because of the remote locality.

1. The delays in getting responses. For example, we waited 24 hours to learn twe would not get a key to our room safe, and in stead, had to change rooms. 2. The rooms are standard size, plenty of storage, but dark (against the sun) and not comfortable for longer periods - ie, one tiny table inside, and an equally small outside under an umbrella, so no place to dine or play cards etc. 3. The isolationist policies of the hotel. It does not appear on many local websites and brochures. The staff are at pains to tell that theirs is THE ONLY restaurant - which is partially true, and extremely unhelpful in advice for getting about except by their rental cars. There is of course, not much to see on an island of only 2,000 inhabitants. 4. The food. Price-included breakfast was plentiful but the food was cold. The few staff seemed rather harassedas choices ran out. We ate only once at evening dinner, which was a joke. Out of four choices of mains, Mde had the beef which was tough, and M. had ravioli with seafood which was small in size and cold. WE WAITED ONE HOUR FOR THESE TO APPEAR, with no apology at all. We raided the shelves of the local bakery and convenience stores for our other meals over three days. 5. The transfers. After two hundred metres of jetty, there is a muddy, unpaved hill to climb to the bus depot at the wharf.It rained heavily on our last day, and the bus dumped us at the station to make our way lugging cases in the pouring rain through the mud to the long jetty. we then had to queue in the rain to get onto the boat. The hotel could have supplied umbrellas at least. 6. The decay. Things are starting to show neglect - the swimming pool has no access ladder, so we couldn't get into, or out of the pool. The pool surround is mouldy and weedy. 7.Yes, it is base camp for Paradise, so consumables and services are expensive. Even so, this room was more expensive than our self-catering apartment in Noumea, so not good value for money really.

Location is superb, (probably best situ on island). Rooms clean & comfortable, with a full-size king bed. The tropical rooms were ground level with a small courtyard. And the Deluxe double rooms were above. Staff were helpful, and made the room available early. On-site car hire was also convenient.

Food selection limited,& poor quality, particularly at lunchtime, where there was only a very expensive buffet or an uninteresting snack bar. The menus never vary. The bathroom shower was a flexible hand-held over the bath, without an effective wall mounting. Othewise, the bathroom was well appointed. Total insect screens weren't the norm, but they did supply power heated repellent devices.

La posizione e' impagabile!!!! Ottima la colazione ma anche la cucina in generale, anche se il menù non è' molto vario. Stanze pulit, accoglienti e confortevoli. Manca il phon nella stanza.

Direi che tutto sommato l' hotel Kou-Bougny merita.... Si atta di un'isola, quindi poco svago serale.... Basta saperlo!

La situation de l'hotel sur la plage de Kuto est exceptionnelle. Tres calme. Petit dejeuner buffet bien

Buffet du samedi soir a eviter, diversite des plats et quantites limitees, qualite moyenne pour le prix.

Au bord d'une des plus belles plages au monde! Personnel accueillant et souriant et "aux petits oignons" pour satisfaire les clients. Lieu calme et reposant. Chambre tropicale très spacieuse et agréablement meublée. Diner à la carte: bonne cuisine, plats copieux. Dispose d'un bungalow dédicacé pour prendre une douche après avoir rendu la chambre. Location de voiture à la demi journée ou à la journée à un prix plus que raisonnable pour les clients de l’hôtel.

Petit déjeuner serait parfait (bonnes viennoiseries, fruits frais ...) si l'on pouvait avoir autre chose que cette ignoble machine qui fait un très mauvais café, lait et chocolat mal dosé et surtout à l'eau. Vraiment c'est le gros effort à faire car très en dessous de toutes les autres prestations de cet hôtel, dommage!!

Nous avons apprécié la situation à proximité de la plage, les chambres spacieuses, propres et lumineuses ( à l'étage, moins chères que celles du rdc), la très belle terrasse du restaurant, sur la plage.

Le menu à la carte est restreint, et le buffet, obligatoire le samedi soir, est d'un très mauvais rapport qualité/prix.

La situation face à la magnifique baie de Kuto Les chambres agréables et au calme (à part les portes qui claquent!).

Le personnel peu aimable et avare de renseignements et dépassé par les évènements (en arrivant au petit-déjeuner les tables nombreuses ne sont pas débarrassées et il est difficile de trouver une place et de la vaisselle propre!). La piscine minuscule et aucun transat de même sur la plage contrairement à un hôtel voisin (certes de catégorie et prix supérieurs). La connexion wifi payante. Un hôtel pouvant être agréable mais qui vieillit mal! Il suffit d'aller faire un tour dans la baie de Kanuméra voisine et de voir les installations de l'hôtel concurrent pour S.en rendre compte!!

- le très peu d'information et d'accueil limite taciturne de la part du personnel (tres courrant à ce qu'on m'as dit concernant les kanaks)... - les bungalows dans un états a la limite de l'abandon (robinets qui bougent enormement, ouverture tres pratique entre le haut du mur des bungalows et le toit pour l'entrée des cafards géantset autres insectes, canapés très raides, petits et durs et j'en oublie surement... - le peu de varietés des plats du restaurant (5, toujours les mêmes)de l'hotel qui sont certe très bon mais bien chères! - on en revient au comportement taciturne même lors d'excursion ou strictement rien n'est expliqué, pas même qu'un serpent pas loin de nous appelé "le tricot rayé" (je l'ai appris par moi même sur internet) possédait un venin 10 fois plus puissant que le cobra royal... ca peut servir !
