Great staff, great location, no restaurant but no problem as there are heaps within 0.5km. Staff went out of their way to look after us when we stuck in the city late at night (be aware that buses stop running rather early, and taxi availability can be a problem)

Location - close to food shops and beach. Friendly staff - especially Kika, Sarah and Graziella. Great contact from Emilie, making sure all our needs were met. Good facilities in the rooms. Room was cleaned every day. No waiting ever on the lift. Good choice of breakfast.

Dogs barking at neighbouring properties; not Le Lagon's fault. Noisy people in room 605 whose children got up early (ie before 7) and made a lot of noise; again not Le Lagon's fault.

All in all it was a great place to stay. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were cleaned well and stocked with fresh towels when needed. Nice and close to local shops and beaches with staff very willing to help and advise on places to go and things to see. I would recommend this place.

New Caladonia is an expensive island. We ended up buying a lot of food at the supermarket 15min up the road (as it was half the price of the local shop) to get things we could cook ourselves which was limited with only a microwave and a kettle. A toaster would have been good. The weekend breakfast was amazing and fresh with lots of choice, but the week day breakfast had more to be desired. felt like you were eating the left overs from the weekend.

Very friendly staff welcomed us when we checked-in late night. The room was clean and spacious :)

Ants were walking on the wall.... maybe because it's tropical island?!

Aquarium in the foyer is great. Best part is it's proximity to Atelier Gourmand - 100 metres up the road which has the most amazing pastries and cakes..and fairly good coffee. A better option than the hotel breakfast.

Bit leaky after the cyclone went through!

Friendly welcoming staff. The decor. Breakfast. Room facilities. Regular early room make up.

Difficulty in parking securely. Falling coconut from tree in hotel grounds broke car windscreen! No ironing facility. No restaurant services beyond breakfast. No bar services. Lack of what to do tourist information. Hate the window between the bath and bedroom. Why not opaque film it?

    – The 1 bedroom apartment was spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished (we asked for one on the top floor, as it was our honeymoon, which we got - room 505 is on a corner and has views over the pool and out to sea, with a living and a bedroom and a huge balcony - I would recommend it) – the staff speak english and are friendly and helpful – free wifi throughout the hotel plus 2 computers in reception – there is a nice small, heated pool and spa as well as a paddling pool and sun lounges – there is a little gym – there is a vending machine with chocolates and drinks and a separate one with microwave dinners (though we were not game enough to try them) – 5 mins walk to Anse Vata beach OTHER INFO: – there are two small grocery stores 2 mins walk if you turn right out of the hotel – A must do is a day trip to Amedee Island with Mary D - worth every penny - amedeeisland.com – walk around to Baie des Citrons for lovely bay for swimming and plenty of restaurants (go to 'Astrolab' there for delicious food)

    – though helpful, the staff didn't always know the current tourist information and prices - best to go to the tourist office – 'kitchenette' consists of a kettle, microwave, sink, plates and cutlery, and a fridge so can only eat microwave or cold dinners in the room (bring your own sharp knife) – they do offer breakfast buffet but at an additional, quite expensive rate

By New Caledonian standards, this was good value for money: we had a bedroom plus lounge area for what many hotels charge for a single room. Friendly and helpful staff with good English, good breakfast, good decor (loved the aquarium).

The hotel could have more tourist information for visitors to use, rather than trekking over to the Tourist Information Office.

There was a lovely aquarium in the reception. Very clean and nice hotel. Will stay there again. Aircon was nice and quiet.

We had two different rooms, one was on the first floor and traffic noise was bad with balcony door open. Third floor was better.

Great location, lots of restaurants and two boulangeries nearby. Only a 15-20 minute walk to Baie des Citrons which is better for swimming, and a bus stop 2 minutes walk away to take you to the city centre. The room was comfortable, had everything I needed and the staff were very friendly and patient with my stumbling French. The outdoor spa was perfect on winter afternoons.

Pool is too small to swim in really, and two cockroaches popped up in my otherwise very clean room - they were dealt with promptly by the great staff though.
