Staff was friendly and it's close to the water
WiFi never worked, room was musty and old, AC rattled all night, pretty far from the airport if you're wondering, breakfast was just adequate, but I've had better in economy hotels in the US.
Nice hotel mixing old and new materials, not too luxurious and not too standard, a true image of what New Caledonia is !
Great location and facilities.
Very poor WIFI
I stayed at the hotel because It advertised itself as having working wifi in all areas. This was dishonest as there was only only barely functional wifi in the reception area and this failed after a few days. New Caledonia is a country where foreign phones and internet can accumulate a bill of hundreds of dollars per day. To find yourself unable to communicate by Skype or email because you checked into a hotel that lied about their interernet is a disaster and not just financially. I would hope booking.com make them remove that claim from their advertisments until they show proof that the problem has been rectified
Wifi - terrible Breakfast shocking, worst I have seen in a long time. Also birds continually pecking at the bread at the serving counter inside the restaurant. Rooms old & smell damp & musty. Housekeeping left my balcony door open 3 days in a row apparently to air the room. My concern was the security of my belongings. Eventually after a couple of complaints they locked the door. All over shocking experience
Liked the location. Protected small beach right in front of the hotel. The instant coffee was replenished every day, and towels were replaced frequently. Cleaning staff very friendly. Power points were both European and Australian types.
The WiFi was absolutely terrible. The wing I was in was falling to bits. Most of the things that were supposed to be contained in the rooms (iron, hair dryer,...) were not to be seen. Very few powerpoints. Easy access areas were clean, corners & behind doors - not so much.
If you own a business and rely on internet connection avoid this hotel. Five days there with no internet, having to spend the day working in restaurants which were closed when I most needed to be online (overseas business). Rather than that, just a ok hotel to stay, a bit ran down but probably the best location you can find as it sits right between the two bays.
The location and setting is fantastic. The furnishings of the lobby and restaurant have old world charm. The pool and proximity to the beach is terrific.
My room and much of my floor smelt of mould and stale cigarettes. the room's location above the main entrance meant constant noise through the night of shuttles and buses and drunken guests. The door of my room jammed and had to be slammed to be shut. The slippery bath/shower was a safety hazard. The free Wi-Fi was so slow it was useless. The restaurant offered no breakfast option on weekends, only an over-expensive brunch.
the rooms are run down, need some love. Especially for the prices!
- really bad smell in the room - yellow disgusting toilet - black bathtub - advertising free wifi but we weren't able to load any webpage on the entire stay - rude reception staff
Fantastic colonial style downstairs Bar/Lounge/Restaurant, unfortunately dead (I was the only customer) Excellent sea view. The staff is very nice, professional and helpful. This could be one of the nicest hotels in New Caledonia, but would need to be completely revamped, as repair and maintenance would not be able to restore it!
Dirty, old, smelly carpets in passage way was actually a disgrace! There seems to be no building maintenance inside and out! My hair dryer in the bathroom had fallen off the wall bracket and was not working (faulty power plug) My companions hair dryer staying in the room next door was also faulty! The lift is also extremely shoddy inside. WiFi reception was so poor and slow that internet access was impossible!
Location , was in walking distance to restaurant and shops when did go out exploring. Pool was good, but has massive fence around it, not like it in any photos
Was a bit run down. Balcony door didn't lock, had to slam door to shut the door into room. Bathroom was ok, but not great. Catered for Japanese tourist. Not enough information abt what was nearby like restaurants and shops. No information on boat tours etc. wifi terrible
staff (laurence especially, very funny but professionnal), the site, the hotel, my 6 m2 terrasse
old bathroom, very thin covers for cold nights
