Hotel Barcelona is run by the most adorable family. They were all wonderful people, the lady who ran the hotel was kind knowledgable and helpful and her young son was a professional little eager helper. The rooms and grounds were really beautiful. Hotel Barcelona was only 2 or 3 blocks from the main markets and eating/nightlife area of town, but those 2 or 3 blocks were a little sketchy, to walk thru. Take a taxi if you're really safety conscious; however the hotel is gated and very safe.

The question # 1 does not really reflect my position as a traveller. While I was a solo visitor to the country, I travelled with my guide from Ometepe and as such I paid for 2 rooms on 3 occasions. The owner/manager was most helpful. She spoke good English, which for me was helpful even though I travelled with a Spanish speaking gude. She was helpful in assisting me with my Spanish. It was very quiet at the hotel and security was good. The room had a tv - helpful to catch the latest world news. It would have been nice to have a chair in the room - one that could be used to sit outside the room door early morning or late evening and not have to walk down to the restaurant area to enjoy the fresh air.

The staff was very helpful... The room was so dirty that I used a tissue to turn the light off and on. The sink had black crud all around the back of it. There were little bugs crawling on the bedside table and the sink.

Very clean hotel. Beautiful garden. Staff was very helpful and spoke English well. A couple blocks off the main tourist area of town so we took a cab home at night as walking didn't feel safe. Fine in the day. Near the locals market and a local neighbourhood which was much better than being in the tourist trap. A great breakfast option at the hotel as well

Great place to stay in Granada. The entire staff was wonderful and made me feel right at home. I ate my breakfasts and dinners at the hotel and was pleased with every meal, which were reasonably priced. The hotel is located outside the center city and required a walk though the mercado to get to town. That is an experience all should have. I will definately stay at the Hotel Casa Barcelona when returning to Granada. Clean rooms, great service, reasonable price: what else could you ask for.

When we arrived at the hotel we had a nice welcome, and once we were in our room we were given a lovely glass of refreshing lemonade and cookies. The rooms were around the garden which was kept very neat and tidy. There were lots of space for sitting and relaxing. Breakfast was good. Although the hotel was a bit away from the centre it was no problem, walking was perfectly okay. The lady who owned the hotel was very kind, I had a bad earache and had tried to find a local doctor but they were closed. This was on the Saturday rather than let me wait until Monday she took me to the local hospital to see the doctors there. They said it was a and ear infection and inflammation, so glad I didn´t wait until Monday. The staff asked every day how I was feeling and were very kind.

Great staff and accommodation. Very relaxing location and gardens. Very helpful with arrangements. We can recommend it without hesitation, and will stay there again on travel to the Granada region. The "green" status means no separate hot water, although tepid showers can be rather refreshing when it gets hot later in the day! Not a deal killer, just a minor adjustment that we had to make.

The staff and facilities were excellent. The location is a bit of a walk from the "busy area" but we considered this a plus, as it was quiet. The bed in our room was exttra firm (a bit too firm for us) but everything was amazingly clean. I slipped in a wet spot on the uphill walk to the Hotel and got my clothes dirty. The very kind staff took us straight to our room where I showerd (cold as in every place we stayed in Nicragua), and then took my soiled clothing, laundered it, and retruned it to me without charge. If we return, we would definitelly stay here again. We booked through an on-line service thinking we could use a credit card to pay, but they were unable to accept creit card payment. Still very nice people, though. We thought the price was a bit high for Nicaragua.

We liked the friendly vibe, 24 hours security, very safe, great customer service, beautiful internal garden The parking very limited, no hot water (but due to the humidity was not that big of an issue the water was luke warm) location was a bit out of the way from down town where all the action is.

The owner was very nice and cooked us dinner. The rooms were clean, but very basic. The was no hot water available, the charge for a room with air con was an extra $12 per might, the hotel was in a funky neighborhood and a 20 minute walk from the center of town. We arrived late in the evening, and the owner offered to make us some dinner. When we checked out the next day because we were unhappy with the location, and no hot water, she charged is an additional $25 dollars for canceling the 4 night reservation, and $18 for the meal which was way above what we would have paid in a tourist style restaurant. We went from there to El Club which for $11 per night more, included air con, hot water and was only 3 blocks from the center of town. They also had a pool. The hotel owner was very nice and accommodating, but she needs to disclose the hot water issue. She said that most places in town did not have hot water, but we found this to be untrue. Her hotel was no very good value for what she provided.

Convenient location to visit Granada. Great and helpful staff. good breakfast. Not very easy to find..but taxi drivers know how to get you there. Street dark at night...never felt unsecure...but late at night I advice to take a taxi.
