Very cosy and comfortable, great location. Convenient, at city centre, in district with much charm. Owners friendly and helpful.
Nothing serious. Could use some shelving in bathroom.
The bed was comfortable and wifi worked alright.
The room hasn't been made when we arrived. The manager didn't show up so the neighbour had to let us in. Wet towels, used sheets and cash from the previous gast were still in the room. Nothing has been cleaned or organized. The house is getting rented out to a few other people, I guess for long term. The bathroom is dirty, hair in the shower and stains in the toilet. All in all a very poor performance, I was glad to leave.
Great location, close to city centre. About 15 mins walk to the station.
We checked into the room, and the room was still messy and dirty, left from the last guests. And the TV didn't work. In the middle of the night, we found out that the heater didn't work either. We had to sleep in the cold, when it just snowed outside, it was hardly a rest. In the morning, we called the owner to complain. The husband (Martijn) came to meet & talk to us. He told us that the heater was turned off because the heater INSIDE another room on the ground floor was turned off. When we mentioned that the way the heater in the house works should be made clearer, he said that we should've called them last night. We think it's quite absurd that we needed to make a call in the middle of the night, and another guest told us that since the first day she arrived there, she had to call the owner for every little things (e.g. toilet paper, keys, etc). A simple written instruction and a little preparation & care of the facilities would make it clearer & less of a hassle for everyone. Making calls would cost mobile credits, especially for travelers from abroad. But the owner/ husband insisted that calling would actually solve all the problems in their facility. We asked for compensation of the cost of our stay, was only given 5% discount. Overall, it's not a well-maintained place. If you can, better stay in a different place. We left feeling upset, which ruined our day.
very cozy room nice view kind hospitality near by the station safe to walk alone near by the supermarket
Great location on a lovely street close to a canal. It was very pleasant to sit at the table on the sidewalk and chat with other guests and even the neighbours. I stayed at the house on the Achter de Vismarkt and had a lovely room on the second floor. I am used to staying in European hostels and found this experience similar to staying in a private room in a small hostel. The owners were very responsive to requests. Kitchen was nicely outfitted and had lots of dishes and cutlery. I did my own cooking and did not take the breakfast which was available for an extra fee.
It was sometimes necessary to ask for items like dish towels or hand soap or garbage bags, as it seemed that the young girls who do the cleaning do not consistently keep an eye on the supplies. This is a great place if you like shared accommodation and are willing to chip in and treat the place like a home away from home. If you want to be pampered you would be better to go to a hotel. Be advised that the stairs are steep, which is typical of old Dutch buildings like this. A toaster and a newer frying pan would have been nice.
- sleeping in the attick with sky view
- There was nobody when I came, so I need to call the owner on cell phone. When I finally found keys to enter the house there was somebody in my room. Also there was nobody to pay the room. The owner turned off her cell phone so I couldn't reach her. - Stairs are very steep so it is not possible to take yourt luggage in the room - The most stressful part of my 3 weeks holiday in Netherland
Very very nice attic room.
Unclean bathroom No towels Bed linen suspicious Sound insulation lacking
Convenient location Bathroom clean Bed with electronic tilt feature! Availability of fridge and cooking facilities
Dirty towels on arrival No breakfast despite being classed as "bed and Breakfast"
Nice room, close to shops.
I couldn't go into my room at the time that was agreed. Bedside table was very dusty
My bed was really comfy. WiFi was really good.
The room is very cute..
The owners were very friendly and helpful. Location is good - just a 15 minute walk from the train station. Great facilities for cooking meals etc.
The bed in the room was very noisy - squeaked at the slightest movement which was very annoying. Also, walls appear very thin so noise from room next door (and no doubt my bed!) easily heard.
Nice location, even if the house was not with view on the Lage Gouwe (we were in the house around the corner). Free parking space at 3' walk in a city where parking space is expensive. The house has good potential if service is uplifted. Nice bathroom.
Nobody was there at arrival and mentioned phone nbrs could not be reached. (Guests in the other house were able to contact someone to know which key to give) Poor breakfast service : expired products (yoghurt) and essential products missing (milk, fruit juice, meat and cheese, "pindakaas"). Even for a "basic" B&B this should be better Lots of dust in the room : many spaces forgotten during cleaning. Note : after contacting the owner (on vacation), efforts seem to be put in place to improve and we didn't have to pay for breakfast to compensate.
The bed was lovely and so was the breakfast!
Way overpriced, wasn't cleaned properly, no waste basket in bedroom, VERY VERY steep staircase to the bathroom (which is upstairs) Would seriously NOT spend more than 20€ on a stay there.
five minutes walk to the main square; kitchen available
shared bathroom on a different floor than the bedroom; bathroom cleaned obviously once a day, but being used by multiple people, towards the end of the day it is always dirty. Room in a pitiful state: sheets stained with blood, hair, filth, probably unwashed; just under the bed, along with the rest of the dirt, there was even an identity card lost by an unlucky precedent Belgian customer!! and who knows how long it was there and no one collected!
A very easy walk from the train station. Family run with small but cute rooms. Clean bathrooms and a nice little kitchen with tea and cookies always available. A great place to stay. I would stay here again.
The owners were very helpful and their children were gorgeous. The location in the middle of Gouda was perfect. The room I had was large, the bed was comfy, the shower was hot and the room was clean. The stairs were very steep but manageable. I would recommend this accommodation to fit, unsophisticated people Stay at the Best Western if you want corporate comfort. This place to me was perfect.
Stairs are very steep for anyone other than able bodied person.
Peaceful and nice accommodation. See you sometimes surely again!
